    That explains why the Shriekers multiply after eating enough food, more Shriekers means more Assblasters and more Assblasters mean more Graboids and the cycle continues on and on.

    I love this franchise. I used to watch the first one when i was young and renting the second movie, watching it over and over.
    Although the quality of the later movies don't hold up to the originals quality, i still enjoy the franchise as a whole. From some additional potential threats fro. mixmaster in the series and evolution deviations of other graboids, you could potentially run a horror theme Call of Cthulu game off these beasts.
    And who doesn't love to see a naked Michael Gross?
    .... Nobody? Just me? Ok.

      @moolate127 4 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      The old design is obviously superior, but I'm starting to come around on the African Graboid, all in all it's not a bad design and it makes sense that there would be different species of Graboid.

    • @jonbilgutay2
      @jonbilgutay2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      It's probably a rights thing. They own the franchise, but not the designs. They probably don't own the shriekers at all, since I haven't seen them in any of the new movies.

    • @Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent
      @Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      I have no problems with the newer designs. Historically they are just evolved versions of the originals and never meant as replacements of the main line. They pointed this out a bit in the last 2 movies of the African and Artic strains being a newer version of the originals. If we consider that evolution work with the Graboids as well the Original oldest strain is the American Graboids. They have a fairly decent working design evolved various ways to expand the species to spread to new feeding area's for the Graboids. The original was always the worm but perhaps they were locked in a place that had difficult terrian for the worm to navigate and also prey that figured out rocks or mountains were safe places. Thus the worms evolved the shrieker thus a creature was able to navigate the difficult terrain the worm couldn't allowing it to spread out. The flying ass-blaster was probably created for the same purpose to cover terrain faster to target fast game the shreiker couldn't but also to probably fly above larger mountains or hills allowing them to spread out much farther.. At some point a Ass-blaster ended up in the Africa we don't know when but likely perhaps a more recent epoch, and unlike its original homeland the Graboids in Africa faced fierce competition. Now there is some evidence this was already taking place with the ass-blasters appearance being more intimidating than its shreiker form from its beak. So its likely the ass-blaster was not originally evolved to hunt prey but was to avoid being prey to another creature and to protect the egg. Given the bird like appearance its likely the worms copied what would have likely been the favored prey item, small to medium sized dinosaurs or reptiles, we know Dinosaurs existed around 230 million years starting out so its likely the Graboids convergent evolved the bipedal shrieker to hunt down faster game and to outrun dangerous ones and when dinosaurs got big and or faster they took the next step. Now fast forward to mammals the graboids design worked for it and needed little evolutionary change so eventually a strain heads to Africa either by floating rafts of trees or objects or crossed by land brigdes or took a very long flight. Once in Africa the strain follows its original MO until it eventually encounters something that makes it difficult for its to reproduce. likely a predator that is able to kill graboids or hurt them enough, another unknown graboid species never encountered yet. A predator that has no problems taking out graboid shreikers, or ass-blasters likely being intelligent enough to kill them or raid nest sites. Even the original Graboid bodies now face prey items or animals that are extremely dangerous for a Graboid to attack or smart enough to avoid Graboids thus the much fiercer appearance in its main form and the ass-blaster form, add to increase aggression and thus you have a powerful more intimidating life form that isn't going to take shit from other animals and more willing to take risk to take down difficult prey. Its likely the species like any others would adapt accordingly to its environment. The Sahara for example may have Graboids that did away with the ass-blaster cycle due to the vast expanse of desert allowing the creature to freely roam with little to no obstructions in its way, the same for the Gobi Desert and may look less intimidating and favoring the older style of predation the North American strain had.

    The question comes down to lifespan. According to most sources, it's about nine months for a Graboid to develop Shriekers, and twelve hours to form Assblasters. Full lifespan of an Assblaster is unknown, however the one from the Tremors series seemed to be living rather well. This leads to another interesting factor, the life span of a Graboid. El Blanco is unable to produce offspring so just keeps on living. In general, about nine-month life span, however under the right circumstance a Graboid could live much longer.

    This list is inaccurate, the dirt dragons are the first stage of the graboid life cycle and not the fifth... they hatch from eggs into dirt dragons, grow into graboids, split into shriekers, and then molt into A.Bs. The A.Bs then fly out and lay new eggs that lie dormant for a time and then hatch into dirt dragons and start the whole process over again.

      I think the graboid live as long as it can and how ever long it lives depends on the amount of shriekers come out of it cause in the 2nd movie Burt Sayed 3 and then in the 3rd he Sayed 6 so I think it depends on how long it would love through the pain of the shriekers. Aka they live for 300 years and the director says fuck it let put in 3 to 6 anyone give me a random number and that's what we'll deal with.

      It's really simple. The first 3 stages evolve by consuming enough food til they're ready to lay eggs in the 4th stage. Stage 4 is the end unless they live longer and grow arms. But since they keep getting killed they don't have a chance.

That and how can any of the "Acting" be called that, when you, as an actor/actress, standing infront of a Green Screen just say a line or two and move on? Wheras, in movies from the 70s, we had real good looking facial features these actors/actresses would put on while delivering lines on REAL set locations, like these people are who their characters are (in most movies, and quite often too). I'm not a movie or TV buff either, I just know this from watching what I did, from both eras of Television.

    Feels like it lacks some more data as well as some proper terminology.
    I'm just gonna weave a bit of a coherent life cycle of the US breed with a bit of hypothesis added in. The Graboids hatch from an egg in the ecosystem with it commonly being in soft ground. They grow enough to become the Dirt Dragon with them moving as a pack and leaping from the ground to disorient there prey while taking them down and if needed. The rest will join in with bringing there prey underground to feast on. Once they reach there mature state and developed there parasite like tongs to do the dragging for them, the Graboid's themselves move away from each other to find there own prey unless they are being picked off in which they find and kill the predator that's been killing them. As they consume there prey, the tongs also receive the nutrients from the digesting which when full will start to metamorphosis inside of the Graboid causing it to surface from constant stomach pains. Upon reaching a developed state the 3 Shriekers pop out and attack anything that's produce heat. There diet is more bigger than just eating meat, they also have been shown to eat Grain or Rice as well as other non-meat based edibles. They try to do this in order to multiply there numbers asexually (and become a pack) before there internal clock has reached 12 hours in which they cocoon themselves to turn into Assblasters. Assblasters primary purpose is to locate a new nesting ground in which they lay the egg and just live til something takes them out and the cycle continues. At least that's how it goes for the US breed how it's depicted or so.
    The African breed on the other hand cuts out the Shriker part and fuses it with the Assblaster or so. A African Graboid can still live without it's parasite tongs living inside it as it's still is able to leap out of the ground like it's US Dirt Dragon counterpart (and could possibly dig through more denser ground than the US Graboid). The tongs themselves could possibly evolve into the African Assblaster when in the African Graboid for a period of time before exiting to start eating and multiplying the African Graboid species again.... This is why the African version isn't as great since there's too many holes in there life cycle compared to the US version.
    Well this is all off the top of my head on how there cycle fully works and don't know if there is something that goes into full detail about this, but i wanted to type this out for the heck of it if there was no actual explanation to them (not caring if there is a origin to them). If anyone reads this have fun knowing this possible nutshell of there life cycle.

    I love Graboids and family, they are mythical (in my opinion they are aliens not from the Precambrian)
    Graboids are monstrously hungry,
    the Shriekers are beings "all for one and one for all"
    finally the Ass-Blaster is perfect hybrid between a hawk and a jet. (when eaten too spicy)

      The graboid is based partly on the Mongolian death worm. The concept was by the original writer called land shark. But yea it's a mongolian death worm

    I get the feeling that either people didn't like the shriekers too much or the producers of these movies didn't because the shriekers are only seen in the second movie and a few seconds of the third movie and not at all in either the fourth fifth or sixth movies

    But I sometimes wish they didn't name those monster's since there kinda hell bent on wiping out humanity
    So maybe just name them the same name as the movie title like a code instead

    • @GreaterGrievobeast55
      @GreaterGrievobeast55 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hellbent on wiping out humanity? I don’t know about that i mean yeah they’ll eat at many of us as they can but they don’t have any plans of wiping out the entire species or anything like that. They’re animals, monstrous predatory ones but animals all the same, and an animal ought to be named.

    For a moment of thought I have a couple ideas besides evolution for the new ones. Remember the sites before movie 4 where they where found in the
    American version.
    Nevada original, 3, 4
    Mexico 2
    Argentina 3
    Egypt tv series episode named shriek and destroy
    other U.S. locations, tv series several episodes.
    New version
    Africa
    Canada
    Now here is the idea. If you remember mixmaster the compound that mixes dna from flora and fauna of all nonhuman origin. Is it possible that what was believed from movie 5 as a fossilized graboid could instead be just a graboid husk and not fossilized at all? Thus changing its appearance and creating this new being

    • @mistermann4163
      @mistermann4163 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I more assume that mixmaster was based off of Graboid DNA since it's a large creature that can evolve into a completely different form. Would somewhat explain why the first movie had full blown Graboids and not Dirt Dragons.

      I disagree with you somewhat. If I had to rank them, it would turn out like this.
      1: Tremors. The film does a good job building up to the Graboids and the fact they are intelligent makes the characters' victory over them far more satisfying.
      2: Tremors 4. Watching Michael Gross playing a character who started out as an antithesis to Burt that eventually grew as character was entertaining and the Western tone fits well with the spirit of the franchise.
      3: Tremors 3. To be honest, I need to re-watch this to form a better opinion.
      4: Tremors 2. This film leans a bit much on comedy and the Graboids were basically nerfed just to make the Shriekers more menacing. It also makes the film kinda boring in that regard as we have to wait over half of the run time for decent conflict.
      I won't list 5 & 6 as they are garbage and not canon.

    • @gh0stcrz978
      @gh0stcrz978 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Domestic Weirdo you know thinking about it now you’re right about the comedy in Tremors 2 they could’ve toned that back a little bit but goddamn the shriekers were fucking terrifying. At least when they were first introduced the chilling sounds the graboid made while it died, and the music they played when they find the Graboid split open and just the dark environment made for an awesome reveal.
