Zarah Leander- Servus,sagt die schöne Stadt der Lieder(1952)

A rather dramatic post-war recording which in translation means something like "Goodbye, says the beautiful city of songs".
The city in the song says goodbye to the singer and she will have to say goodbye to her loved one...
You will notice how Zarah Leander's voice is transitioning into a lower register and slowly becoming more masculine... (Compare it to songs from the 1950 movie "Gabriela" or even "Cuba Cabana").

dieses lied war eines der ersten die ich von zarah hatte, damals mit 8 jahren hörte ich es immer wann es ging, ich liebte und liebe es bis heute besonders. diese stimme ist so voller magie und verzaubert.... ach zarah!

What a beautiful and magnificent song. I played it two years ago on Dutch national Radio 5 and I think no one took notice. It's a strand of music that somehow got forgotten. But cover it to a rock/pop setting, and you have a hit, I'm sure.
