Yeah! He is great! Amazing reviews, great wrestling content in general. I also pointed out how his editing and review quality has improved along the way. He is also very nice and humble reading, liking all comments and responding to a lot of them as well.
Finally, this legendary game is covered. Yeah the first two Def Jam games aged exceptionally well. The roster, gameplay, modes, insane levels of customization and soundtrack are absolutely perfect. A very early prototype was found in March and this game was going to be EVEN BIGGER! 2Pac, Notorious Big, DMX, Sean Paul and many more artists were going to have their music in the game but were cut! DMX, Kurupt and S-Word were also going to be playable but were also sadly cut! Carmen Electra and Ice T LOVED working on the game and want the Def Jam series to come back!
Definitely a classic game in my eyes not even mad it's so expensive to buy second hand these days. The remaster we'll never get but the remaster we'll forever deserve.
My favorite thing about this game is how everyone that is seen with a proper model is playable. The trainer? You can play him. The salesmen? You can play them. Your barber? Hell yeah. The placeholder for your character in the opening cutscene??? Literally one of the best characters, statistically.
About damn time. Thanks for the review the wait was worth it. Too bad DMX wasn’t included, he’s my favourite rapper. Honestly this was my favourite rap era; the music, the styles and the attitude was the best.
Back when he was alive, DMX had stated that the developers didn’t pay him enough money to be in Vendetta so he didn’t want to be in Fight For NY because of it.
The fond memories of this game , I always gave my best to tryout all the fighting styles mixing and matching em , I remember one time I made my fighter a Drunken style kickboxing hybrid
Bro, it’s between “COMP” and “See about ya” 😂🔥 I downloaded both songs, uncut and uncensored onto my phone, you HAVE to bump see about ya full volume, now that I think about it, yeah, that song is WAY more hype, but COMP comes in a close second!! 🔥🔥

In the past year WWE champion Big E. Lingston, Ice T, and Kevin Liles, who was a Def Jam executive when the games came out, called for a sequel on Twitter. Ed Boon, of Mortal Kombat fame, did a Twitter poll on fighting game franchises asking which should return. Not only did Def Jam win, it trended to the point where Ed asked everyone to calm down already. There's also petition for a remaster as well. As Def Jam Icon proved (published by EA Chicago rather than EA Big/ Vancouver and developed by EA's in-house Fight Night team rather than AKI, it's nothing without AKI. Kenny Omega toured syn Sophia's studio and found only the No Mercy/Revenge/VPW2 Def Jam director, Hideyuki Iwashita aka Geta-san, and he was hired by Yuke's to work on the upcoming AEW console game which I hope is at least a fraction as good the old AKI games. If they want to revive the Def Jam series they better find the rest of the AKI team members who no longer work at syn Sophia.
I knew about there being a sort of “tease” for the def jam series to return from the def jam Twitter page a few years ago, of course nothing has came of it, but I never knew Ed Boon tweeted about it haha, that’s funny asf 😂 but even still though, would def jam be worth reviving in this day and age? With these, uh, “new generation rappers”? 🤔
One of the greatest and most perfect video games of all time. A COLD ass opening that gives you the chills, Massive roster, incredible gameplay with a variety of different elements, plentiful stages, unlockable stages and fighters, amazing, hype ass soundtrack, I could go on and on about this game. This is my childhood right here, and it’s insane how I’d rather play this game than pretty much most any “modern game” today. I hate how everybody really hated icon, as I personally did not find it that bad. Sure, HUGE step down from FFNY, but it had potential, but it did kill the Def Jam series. I pray we get something def jam related in the future to jumpstart this amazing series again. 🤞🏾💯💯
Damn, this has been a long time coming. The price exploded out of nowhere, it was like 20$ when i bought it in 2019. But all in all, DJ ffny is probably the only great arcade MMA game, just like vendetta was a great arcade wrestling game
Man I brought this on gamecube for 20$ in 2013 because my PS2 stopped working crazy I sold all some of my games to Gamestop I regret selling my my ps2 version not paying over 100$ but I play it on PC now
I actually had the pleasure of owning all four games Def Jam games. Vendetta, which I pre-ordered at GameStop in the mall; Fight for NY, Christmas present; Fight for NY: The Takeover, it is suppose to be a prequel to Vendetta even though it features Fight for NY characters; and Icon. And NikateeN, there is no shame in saying that you had Def Jam Icon and liked it. It may have moved away from what we all experienced from what Fight for NY gave us, yet it was creative in using the music and the background in attacks; controls were lame though. BTW, when I played the Tag Tournament in Fight for NY, I ALWAYS picked Ice-T. It is great that I got to see this game again.
I personally liked icon, and it was one of the first games I downloaded when I jailbroke my ps3. I loved the “DJ scratch” gimmick and using the music to fight, that was pretty genius. Just damn, the gameplay is so slow and everybody pretty much plays the same 😂
1:21 F-Zero X Title Theme and 10:36 NBA Hangtime Create a Player Theme, both amazing tunes! Glad to se you coming back after a few months. This game, even Vendetta exists, is totally unique. It's a must for wrestling and fighting video game players. See ya!!
Thank you for reviewing the Xbox version. It's the fastest running aki style game. The Microsoft hard drive was strong and it's the smoothest version. If you notice, no mercy lags when there's 4 players.....this game was so perfect in it's performance.
Yeah, we have been waiting for a while for this review. Amazing job, once again!! It must take a lot of time to finish these great reviews, so we apreciate it. I loved this game as a kid/teen and I still do. It introduced me to great rappers and their song. The story was engaging, customization was superb and all with the tight and great Aki system. That "Walk with me" music by Joe Budden when you finish the story was a nice choice. One of the greatest games I ever played. One weird story is that I think I glitched the game but I was never able to reproduce this glich anymore. On my first playtrough, at one time I spent my training points and then decided to go back to it after doing something, and my points were back, even tough my stats were increased. I kept spending them, and they kept coming back. So I was able to full my character stats at the middle of the game! I bought all the blazing moves avaiable and two more fighting styles as well. I became an overpowered god lol !
People still play FFNY competitively. There's a Vice article called "Snoop Dogg is Banned-The Community That Reinvented 'Def Jam: Fight for NY" about it. There's a discord. People still stream it every day on TH-cam and upload playthroughs. And it's been featured at CEO.

You have great selection for background music in your videos, I know I recognized an Xzibit song from Madden I haven't heard in years. Excellent review and time capsuling of a time in hip hop that I'm glad I experienced as a teenager ^_^
The illest game ever! I was mad as hell when I sold this along with my PS2 when I was in college. Biggest regret of my life because of the game price now...let's see you finish it out with Def Jam Icon next.

Yea I remember passing on it when it was around 60 bucks in 2012 because that was ridiculous for a PS2 title. Little did I know how it would keep rising!
The Gamecube prices for FFNY are the worst especially. Luckily FFNY here is only £12 on an original Xbox, jumps to £25 for the PS2... And ouch the GC is £40... Fortunately Vendetta though is pretty cheap at £3.50 here.

Thanks Alec! Glad to see you still around here. I think the price is a combination of the game itself being so good and also the fact that it did t have as high of production numbers as other games of the time.
The game is expensive because it really is the definition of a “classic”. It’s a damn near perfect game, something that modern games could only ever hope to achieve. It has so much replayability, it’s legit one of the greatest games of all time 💯💯
@@NikateeN like Def Jam Fight for New York is like a good version of WCW Backstage Assault, the Ultimate Muscle games were like WWE All Stars, but getting the concept right
Maybe at some point this channel can review the ajpw wrestling games for the ps1 and Dreamcast as they're not well known to many people. They definitely need some love
It would've been cool if they had a rock genre version of this too,but that probably would've been a nightmare talking with bands coated to singular rappers.
the ps2 version doesnt have the coolio hair but the psp one does.. the psp version also has a different fighting mechanic where you can grab them as theyre half up
Yea I had a few games like that, like Final Fight CD for Sega CD. I had that game complete in pristine condition and have no idea what happened to it but now it’s worth good money.
I never played this or the previous game as I was deep into my metal head phase, and though I do use at the time and still listen to rap/hip hop occasionally I never had much interest in playing them, but I find it kinda interesting they had the wife of a rock star (as Carmen Electra was dating/married to guitarist Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction at the time) and rock/punk rock/hardcore punk icon Henry Rollins
According to DMX it's because they didn't want to pay him even though he was the most popular character from Vendetta. I think he wanted 2 sents from every copy sold of FFNY. There's a video of him explaining it. I don't think the legal trouble happened until way after 2004.
He was literally in jail while the game was in development. That information is pretty well documented but DMX himself could very well have his own version of things.
I spent a whole lot of time with that one. It was one of the most fun multiplayer wrestling titles I’ve ever played. Even my non wrestling fan buddies loved creating their own wrestlers and putting them into Royal Runble matches.
I do absolutely love how DefJam turned from a relatively light hearted wrestling game to a pretty grim fighting game. Even though I love Vendetta slightly more for the wrestling side. No other game could I say Snoop Dogg threw Danny Trejo into a train.
This channel doesn't get enough love.

Maybe at some point this channel can review the ajpw wrestling games for the ps1 and Dreamcast as they're not well known to many people. They definitely need some love
Welcome back brother! Hope you and the family are doing well and staying healthy!
Thanks a lot!
Awesome review! Would love to get my hands on this game!
It would've been cool if they had a rock genre version of this too,but that probably would've been a nightmare talking with bands coated to singular rappers.
That would definitely be cool!
the ps2 version doesnt have the coolio hair but the psp one does.. the psp version also has a different fighting mechanic where you can grab them as theyre half up
Phenomenal game.
I remember having this game as kid on the ps2 and I have no idea what happened to it. It just disappeared and now it’s worth so much 😂😂
Yea I had a few games like that, like Final Fight CD for Sega CD. I had that game complete in pristine condition and have no idea what happened to it but now it’s worth good money.
Please never stop uploading videos.
Played this game so many times I maxed out how many times you could create a character
Ohhhh yeah this is a great freaking game!
I just got wrestlemania the arcade game and can't quit playing it
I’ve got a ton of nostalgia with that one!
Dmx gave an interview how he didn’t want to be in the game because the contract was only like 5 cents per game sold
You gotta check out Roadkill so underrated
According to DMX it's because they didn't want to pay him even though he was the most popular character from Vendetta. I think he wanted 2 sents from every copy sold of FFNY. There's a video of him explaining it. I don't think the legal trouble happened until way after 2004.
He was literally in jail while the game was in development. That information is pretty well documented but DMX himself could very well have his own version of things.
@@NikateeN I wasn't aware.
Raw 2 is the most underrated wrestling game ever.
I spent a whole lot of time with that one. It was one of the most fun multiplayer wrestling titles I’ve ever played. Even my non wrestling fan buddies loved creating their own wrestlers and putting them into Royal Runble matches.
Me and my freind played the hell out of this was an awesome game
That man shouted out Scarface ❤️👑💪
i thought Mayhem was a'ight not better than Revenge or World tour, but still pretty fun.
I do absolutely love how DefJam turned from a relatively light hearted wrestling game to a pretty grim fighting game. Even though I love Vendetta slightly more for the wrestling side.
No other game could I say Snoop Dogg threw Danny Trejo into a train.
They bringing this game back o shit
indeed one of the greatest fighter ever made
I feel honored to own this game on the ps2 because wow this game has gotten expensive
Cherish it! 😂
I have the game box but not the disk, but I jailbroke my ps4 to download the game, so I actually have the disc “in spirit” i guess?? 😂🤣
That was a great presentation and I just subscribed😊
Thanks!
Welcome Back bro. Hope all is well 🙏.
Thanks! Same to you dude!
