I think having the firefly bush works better vs a mob. Since its particles vs mob. Its also probbably alot easier to manage in terms of transport and accessibility
Jordan, Snapshots are still called Snapshots. Game drops are smaller full releases. 1.21.4 was a game drop, 1.21.5 will be a game drop, etc. 1.22 will be an update, and snapshots are snapshots. I know it's confusing as heck, just trying to help :)
According to the patch notes, the firefly bushes generate both around riverbanks and in swamps. Also, the falling leaf particles don't create Leaf Litter, it just generates under the trees in forests, dark oak forests, and the smaller forests on top of mesa/badlands biomes. Leaf Litter isn't currently a renewable resource, but they might change that in the future.
If I were designing it, I'd have you punch (not break, punch.) A leaf block and then leaf litter spawns around the player. Like you shook the branch and some went flying off
@The_waffle.. so, yes and no. If you're playing on Java I'm pretty sure you can get it by enabling it in experimental features, I _think_ that's how they're doing these now?? But for bedrock, the versions on mobile, console, and minecraft "windows" version, you've usually gotta wait for the update to fully come out unfortunately. It was like that with the pale garden.
@@Rebellious_Strangerthey could easily add different textures to the sheep so that the wool at least when it's on the sheep looks slightly different (or if they feel like going even farther, they could make it so that there's different types of wool depending on the sheep you get said wool from)
@Rebellious_Stranger technically, they are closer related to goats than the Minecraft "goats" since they based the goats off of mountain goats, which are actually closer related to antelope.
You missed the small update on the vanilla (and variant) cow models having protruding snouts now. Also they added a new "bush" block (in certain biomes), and more ambient sounds (esp in the desert). Source: MC website news article.
The ambient sounds are absolutely my favorite feature, and if they can bring it to every biome or at least the ones that will benefit the most from it (mountain biomes particularly), I mean that’s gonna be awesome. This is absolutely what the wild update should’ve been Edit: aw cap didn’t mention them but they’re still cool lol
They are doing it week by week, just be patient. I am 99% sure there will be chicken variants next week, but not sure about sheeps since they have a color variants
I honestly think they should drop the "drop" terminology (no pun intended), as I think it's way more confusing than if they said "we're returning to smaller updates now". Mojang has had those sorts of periods before, like 1.10-1.12, and they communicated that at the time so people weren't really disappointed with them (well some were, but it wasn't a major deal). Same with when they've done a one-off smaller update like 1.15. However, putting actual gameplay updates and features in what used to be reserved for small bug fix version numbering is way more confusing than just calling it a smaller update.
Opinion. The new models/skins for the cows/pigs are great and I love the new 3D bits. I feel though the ears should be 3D instead of painted on. The new forest stuff is good. I think the forest need fallen trees and stumps. There should also be hanging roots spawning on the underside of dirt blocks in forest biomes. Edit: I really like the fireflies.
Hey Jordan! Three quick things. - These are still Snapshots! A "Drop" is just a smaller version of an Update. 1.XX, that's an Update. 1.XX.X, that's a Drop. All these changes have been Snapshots which I believe are leading up to a Drop, 1.20.5. What we have in store for 1.22, I have no idea. - The reason Fireflies weren't added at first is more than them being toxic (though that did contribute to the decision). It was also because having a bajillon small entities flying around swamp biomes would be a "performance nightmare" (as put in an _Ask Mojang_ episode), no matter how small the entity was. Although I'm glad they added them back as particles! And emissive particles, at that! Also, they create the Fireflies when it's dark _around the block_, not just at night. You can manipulate this by putting them under the ground to force Fireflies to spawn in the day! - None of the new blocks added (the Bush, Firefly Bush, Leaf Litter, etc.) require shears to break. You can just punch them. That's all! Hope your house (and family) (and cars) (and yourself) were ok.
To be really honest, before Mojang changed the lodestone recipe, I did make a video about this issue 2 years ago. Now I realize Mojang watches and fixes the bugs based on what I say. o_o Just wanted to say this. No hard feelings, really! Keep being an awesome Captian, Jordan!
First Firefly Bushes spawn Swamps and then Riverbanks! Secondly Frirefly Bushes emits Level 2 Light like Medium Amethyst Bud does and etc 1 Lit Candle has Level 3 Light!
I do think that the firefly bushes should have a way to make them be active during daylight that way if you have a dark base you can add some firefly particle effects.
No sparkles. Thoses are still snapshots. For drops. Major updates are still a thing. And are called major updates. The big new number change. But all smaller updates are drops. And major updates also have snapshots. And they all may be found in the experimental toggle. If they arnt planed for the exact new drop or update. Aka so Mi'ecart and villager changes are experimental feature. That might one day come as a drop or in a major update. But not until they're forced upon the snapshot. Instead of behind an experimental toggle. And experimental toggle come in snapshots. Snapshots for drops and or for major updates. Yeah idk how I could make this more confusing without saying something wrong lol.
Male and female cows both can have horns, this is called nonpolled. Then cattle without horns are called polled. (Yes it seems backwards) The difference in bulls and steers are if they have their testicles or not. Steers dont, bulls do. The difference in cow and heifer is a heifer has not had a calf yet where as a cow has. Hope this answers any cattle questions one might have.
Normal cows are based off Holsteins (milk cows seen in the Chick-fil-A commercials) warm cows are probably based off something like a jersey or brown Swiss breed. Then cold cows are based off the highland breed.
I'm a bit sad that they are simply calling them warm and cold, when the cold cow is clearly a Highland Cow and the warm pig could be a Tamworth pig. And they simply ignored the most famous pig species after the regular one, the Hampshire one or as they are called here, Piggham.
To this day, I never understood the logic behind removing fireflies entirely. There’s a thousand reasons why the logic doesn’t make sense, but what baffles me the most. What really irks me with how the devs work is this: Why didn’t they just program the frogs to just NOT eat them?
exactly... i mean you can feed cookies to a parrot to kill them, but that's a players action to do so, while the frogs would choose to eat them, but they could just make them not eat them.
the issue you're having is that you come at it from an inherently skewed perspective and work backwards on the logic. fireflies were never *removed*, they were *not added*, which means that they scrapped them before they ever got properly into the game. the reason they didnt program frogs to "just not eat them" is because it doesnt work like that, fireflies never existed, we dont even know if there was any work at all done on them beyond the ideation phase before they got scrapped, and if there was work done on them it clearly wasnt enough to keep it around. the question you should be asking is "why didnt they program them in without doing the frog feature" which likely has many right answers, but a few of them are: 'They lost their only feature', 'They would likely be very laggy if they were entities as was planned', 'Making them not laggy or some sort of intractable particle would be a lot of work with very little payoff', 'It is easier to scrap a feature than it is to rework it entirely', 'They were already running low on time for their schedule' the PR answer of "poisonous to frogs" was rather unsatisfying and obviously not its only issue, but it is by far the easiest to explain
If you breed cows/pigs of different temperature variants, the baby will have a 50% chance of being the variant of one of the parents. That’s how it was coded with the pigs, so I’m guessing it will be that way with the cows.
If they emit light they would lose their glowing effect since the space around them would be too bright for it to look good. They only look good when it’s dark

@Orion_44 Eyy! Thanks for watching 😄
hehehehe I'm happy I now know who you are after watching UHCG
The firefly bushes do actually give off light, it's just a light level of 2 so it's barely noticeable lol
According to the patch notes, the firefly bushes generate both around riverbanks and in swamps. I mean, we already have sheep variants with the different color wool, but I agree that chicken variants would be cool
@@Rebellious_Strangerthey could easily add different textures to the sheep so that the wool at least when it's on the sheep looks slightly different (or if they feel like going even farther, they could make it so that there's different types of wool depending on the sheep you get said wool from)

They'll definitely get their own variants in time

You don't need shears to obtain the new bushes. Also, the firefly bush does indeed emit a small amount of light.
Highland cows!
Crazy to me that they didn’t add fireflies, just to add fireflies now
Tbh they should've added them in the first place. Just not edible via frog.

What i want is Sinking Snow variants, like in desert its QuciSand and on swamps its loose Mud or something.
This is the best drop/update and you can't convince me otherwise, Highland cows are great and I'm so happy we have them as a variant in Minecraft now
Bundles are the best drop and that was entirely just a bag meant to be added half a decade ago.
This entire update is just reskins that change nothing
The giant horns on the baby cow 😂❤
those fire fly bushes would be cool to place under an enchantment table to add more wonderment to it.

New chickens too now

This isn't a drop, it's a snapshot. It will be a drop when they officially release these features.
I'm a little concerned that the baby cows have horns at birth...

But can you plant Firefly Bushes on stone? Can you use them to create a trail in caves.
To this day, I never understood the logic behind removing fireflies entirely.
There’s a thousand reasons why the logic doesn’t make sense, but what baffles me the most. What really irks me with how the devs work is this:

the question you should be asking is "why didnt they program them in without doing the frog feature" which likely has many right answers, but a few of them are: 'They lost their only feature', 'They would likely be very laggy if they were entities as was planned', 'Making them not laggy or some sort of intractable particle would be a lot of work with very little payoff', 'It is easier to scrap a feature than it is to rework it entirely', 'They were already running low on time for their schedule'
the PR answer of "poisonous to frogs" was rather unsatisfying and obviously not its only issue, but it is by far the easiest to explain
Finally fireflies
