Andyrc - moron. Everybody can see that it says 30dbm (which is 1w), but you just say 500mw with no explanation. No point in watching the rest of your review.
Hey Andy have a question for you I used one of these immersion RF power meters to check the actual wattage on a caddyx Vista and no matter what mode I checked it and even at 1200 milliwatts setting I still only saw around a Max of 350 to 400 is digital different this was with a direct connection to the antenna as well not the wand I know you're good with this stuff any input would be interesting thank you
Hi, where can i get an external atennuator? It has to be at 30db? I will measure mostly over 600mw. Can i use the device for a short time without an external atennuator?
You can't change settings with this, correct? It's just used to check or read, for lack of a better term, the output correct? If you can change does it work on all vtx brands?
Hi Andy, Great channel. I'm travelling to the UK next month for about 3 months. I want to send some quads from banggood for my Grand children. Do you have any problems getting quads and batteries sent from Banggood to the UK, if so what is the best way to do it.?
Figured this would be quickest way to contact you. Got a big question for you. Would it be possible to transplant a yuneec breeze 4k carcuss to a ultra lightweight frame to get from it's weight below 250g including battery?
Just got this meter. When I plug my 2 Vtx's in (200mW) they constantly drop from 200+ to 120 after 3-4 min (didn't go longer cause I thought heat might damage). Does this mean they are trash?
I have a r-xsr what is the glue that holds the two antenna on with as mine has come loose and don’t want it to come off on flight? Or what do you suggest to use? Really enjoy your channel keep up good work
Hey mark. another thing i wish i had mentioned is to do with cheap VTX's. these power meters kill them on high power as they dont have heat protection. which is why you dont see me using mine too often. the cheap companies never mention if a vtx has heat protection. the majority dont so id be choosy when u use it, so if you wanna give a cheap model away etc best not to try it on the higher powers unless you have a very powerful fan cheers.
Hi Andy, love your reviews. Good clear presentation. Good mix of table top and out door. Can you use a different color back drop for your table top presentations. White paper backdrop is good enough.
Hey andy Hope you are well I know your a busy man.since you have been inside the h107 d+ what do you think would happen if the barometer was removed completely? I love this little quad but she just wont fly. I have posted a vid on my channel if you want to take a peek. I know that my barometer is faulty. And I am going to take her apart carefully according to your instructions and the schematic provided to me. Thanks in advance for any of your help.
Hello I have your space wolf dt140 it sends power to the xm plus, but my hglrc f438A stack won’t send power to the r-xsr I have to power it from main flight battery is this normal or do I have different versions of the hglrc? Bothbday f4 flight controller?
Hello have just updated my hglrc f4 38A stack with the v2 transmitter, my l.e.ds have stopped working. They worked when i first got the stack installed. But since I have update bf they no longer work. Any ideas?
most likely when you updated BF it turned telem on or some feature conflicting with the LED function. turn them off (config tab where telem and soft serial is found) if not using. cheers
it depends if you are using it for races. if so id say definitely yes. and then if just for checking the power of a copter plugging it in less so however the new one is more accurate getting closer to the frequency.
Nice neat gadget from Immersion RC....I use EZUHF and have to say their UHF gear is flawless and seems well finished as products go.....This could also be very useful for the serious FPV Fixed Wing type for checking basic RF output. Although you didn't mention it in the video, 5.8G vtxs can have some wildly fluctuating RF outputs depending on what frequency you select. Not so important on a Multi maybe, but more so when flying at distance. The removable battery was a relief, I thought for one moment it was going to be built in.
Hey Andy this is probably a stupid question but this will tell you if your outputting though the antenna. Say in the chance you disconnected the pig tail from the transmitter and didn't get it fully seated. I have had trouble with TBS where after replacing the antenna cable my range drops to around 30 meters. To me when I replace the antenna cable it feels like the UFL end snaps into the socket but that cant be right if the range drops like that. After the third or forth try I am forced to take out a fairly large hammer and teach the VTX a lesson, lol. Not really but the VTX is worthless to me at that point. I never had the same problem with Tramp HV so I have some confidence I am doing it right. Not to bad mouth TBS it just been my experience and a consistent problem for me each time. Again I am sure this is a stupid question especially when you screw it on the SMA end. I just wanted to make sure I understand correctly because that would help to troubleshoot.
Yep and I have that problem too. Check the quad connected directly and lf ok, use Scully mode to centre the reading and then if you get a problem the DB will show a reduction
a bit pricey for what little use that most people will get out of it, And its out of stock at the moment, I see in the comments below someone has said about using it to find lost modesl.Good video mate keep it up. Happy flying
So, it can handle up to 500mW on a direct connect to the VTX if I understand you correctly? Any time limit on that? I think all my VTXs are 200mW or less, so I'd probably be good. A neat accessory, and about 1/2 the price of the original, which I couldn't bring myself to buy. Every VTX has an output which varies from channel to channel. Let's say you have a 25mW VTX. It might read closer to 40 mW at 5645mhz, and perhaps only 18mW at 5875 mhz. A meter like this might help you to find the "sweet freq." where your VTX has its best power output/efficiency. Thanks for the review. Cheers.
Hey Bill yes direct connect up to 500mw but i guess there is an element of common sense required also. knowing how this stuff works the more power you output the more you put the internals at risk of decalibrating / damage. Theres also the added variable in that a vtx that hits 600mw really should have temperature protection otherwise it will burn itself out as well as the meter. So i would say up to 200mw is fine but even that can overheat the vtx without cooling. id be more concerned for the vtx than the meter at 200mw. and then at 400-600mw if the transmitter has temp protection it will most likely shut off within a minute. so to conclude a 10 second burst of 600mw should be fine for both. any longer could kill the vtx. but lets hypothetically say you have a very powerful fan cooling the VTX enough for it to stay powered. you would want to attenuate externally to cope with it. cheers
You have a habit of reviewing things which I then find I must buy. It occurs to me that the 'scope function can be used to work out the minor functions on 'toy' quads which means anyone with a multi-protocol transmitter needs one.
And another item on the "wish list". I like that a lot, very useful. Thanks for sharing your work Andy. Jeff
never seen that type of li-ion battery... are there easy replacements for it, when it doesn't charge anymore ?
I was wondering what they were up to since the original went out of stock a while ago.
+Andyrc this tool can actually measure up to 1000mw or 30dbm without an external attenuator, not 500mw
That's not what the instructions say. Cheers
Absolute Maximum Input Power
1.3W (31dBm), > 30 second use with > 500mW (27dBm not recommended)
Yea it just might cook it, lol
Andyrc - moron. Everybody can see that it says 30dbm (which is 1w), but you just say 500mw with no explanation. No point in watching the rest of your review.
This is a must have with the new bf vtx tables! As always thank you for the most excellent reviews and demoing all the feature!
whats the bar across the bottom for ?
does it not pick up the frequency automatic?

The V2 is pretty cool .... A must have

Hi Andy, great bit of kit, thanks for sharing :-)

liquid electrical tape. cheers
which attenuator should I choose?
Up to 600mw you dont need it, it is an internal attenuator in the device
SWEET, Mine will be here Friday.
“Mark, order an external attenuator.” That is what I heard.

Its cool, but still a bit pricey for what little use I’d get out of it. Certain handy for fault finding.
I find that when the VTx is faulty, you can't see :)

Really nice for the price. Great walkthrough on how to use it. Cheers 👍👍

no not normal either a fault or having too much powered up from the bec
AndyRC I only have it wired normally, camera in camera pads, vtx in vtx pads etc
pop on a directional antenna and you have a lost model finder. ;)

I remapped the ppm pad to work with telemetry as per your video what do I need to look for? Or turn on?
turn off telemetry and see if they start working some boards have a conflict
I already own a V1. Do I need a V2?

. GREAT CHANNEL!!
. 👍😀👍
Nice one,
Yes yes. Very exciting. But where's the Tricopter? :-) Also if you do a build and don't tell a joke you're breaking tradition.
Im working on it. just need some good dirty jokes haha cheers
You know you must be famous when my wife, from the bathroom, asks, "is that AndyRC?"
Dude, you've made it 😀🤣
best comment ever thank you
nice but a little overpriced tbh, the arduino rf meter for 30$ on ebay is much more worth it.
Very red red red bed...
lovely poem :)
The price is too high !!!!! $ 45 Realistic price
You wouldn't find anything else doing this for less than a thousand dollars. Cheers
Too bad it can only measure 1W. 😒
🙃
