I like this comment from the article comments, which I am pasting in verbatim: We’ve seen millions of people move into the new Outlook for Windows since our launch, putting it on par for consumer usage with our classic Outlook for Windows app - in a much shorter time. Most people who were using Mail and Calendar have migrated to Outlook for Windows. ...no you haven't. You've forced people to use the new Outlook web app against their will, and you keep forcing that every week over and over again even if they toggle to go back to the old Mail app, completely disregarding even their feedback when they tell you that the app keeps resetting forcing users to loop back through the entire setup, or how you're blocking paid Microsoft 365 Business Basic accounts from using the Outlook app when Mail worked just fine. You keep breaking workflows, force people into the new Outlook, and then act as if that's people "moving" to the new Outlook as if they're happy with that.
Talking of workflows, those interminable regular UPDATES you face as you start your day's work awaiting your computer's ability to update in less than half an hour. Great for business efficiency.
Thanks for posting this! The new version of Outlook pissed me off, so I'll avoid using it as much as possible. When setting it up, in a new Windows 11 installation, I was informed the email *already* hosted on a private server would need to be COPIED to Microsoft's server in order to access it, which is completely B.S. Right now, we're using IMAP to access that email just fine. So, this is *yet another* data grab that really upsets me. *sigh*
Microsoft account already has two factor authentication, which means there is not only login and password. I am using old Outlook, I don't like the new one, which is a PWA and works only online. If MS will remove the desktop app, I will stop using MS Office.
@@sirjohng1 Of all the Office applications, I need Outlook the most. It's my favorite app for contacts, calendar, and emails across all devices, for personal use and for my job. So, I have had Office 365 for a long time. I simply cannot find a better alternative to Outlook.
Totally agree. I've been using Outlook for over 20 years. This FORCE by Microsoft is another money grab. As much as I hate the thought, if MS blocks my access to my emails in Outlook, I'll just stop using Outlook and notify my Contacts to start using my G-mail or my Yahoo Mail. This is B.S.
It would be great if they could focus on getting things on par with Outlook for desktop, like, oh, I don't know, conversation view for shared mailboxes? You know, the simple things that every other mail program has.
I am in the process of ditching as many Microsoft products as is currently possible. Office has gone, Outlook has gone, a month ago, etc. I really should have switched to Thunderbird long ago. Basically, only Windows (10) is left, and I am working on that.
Had no clue this was goin on, fak sakes... I have to rethink my accounts again, mainly gaming related stuff. I think my internet provider has email service, i could try that next, but what would you suggest ? I still want to use basic browsers, i do not want everything into apps... :7 Couse that means i cant use my old computers anymore, they aint playing nicely with apps.
Most of those that come from Hotmail times are using the Exchange-based Outlook service. The software, however, still sucks if we're talning about the PWA version and the Legacy MS Outlook somehow rivalizes with nowdays Thunderbird.

💯% my own experience!
I agree. Switch to ad free thunderbird

mRNA medicines, driverless cars, forced use of EV's etc. Humans are increasingly being used as Cannon Fodder to test unwanted 'new ideas'.
So what is modern authentication? Such as using Google authenticator or Microsoft authenticator to access your account as login?
To know that I was just about to add my gmail accounts to my outlook app and I'm glad I found this video before I did so.
My wife has 365 and accesses Outlook by right clicking the desktop icon, choosing 'Run as Administrator' and it comes up there and then.

Free to use Libra Office is a very good alternative, I cannot understand the obsession with MS Office?

That’s a rare good change as basic auth doesn’t support MFA. They enforced it for enterprises about a year ago.

I use a security key but currently its optional way to sign in. It would be better if they made it the only way by user choice.
I'm fine with Basic authentication gone. I use 365 at work so MFA/2FA is normal for me. The new interface is fine, used to it from work anyway.
I use Thunderbird, way better than outlook
EXACTLY❗️💯
Yes, I have switched recently, and I like it.
What if you use a third party app such as K9 mail?
For some reason, for the past couple of weeks I've had to run as administrator in order to run my desktop Outlook 2016. Annoying.
Microsoft reminds me of BOEING. 737 to the MAX.😢
2:50 bunch of bs, they just don’t want to keep supporting old apps, they don’t gaf about the “security” landscape
That's okay more work for my clients 🤣

Please avoid ISP emails, they are often buggy and you are locked to your ISP if you need to keep that address
@@PlatyBZH Is 4G connection and my phone, not locked into my address.
Microsoft has never done email well.
