From this one, who as others, so it seemed, was pretty disturbed by the announcements, Outlook, came up with!🙈 Definetely nót there yet -Unfortunately, as my MacBook seems to be "version 11.7.10" and does therefore nót provide me, to update, the Outlook App by the Mac Store, as I just tried to follow your (pinned, in the comments) instructions.. But already, the effort, you do, for people like me who are not that technically wise.. In a way🤔😉, means a lot!🙏
Hi Dutchie, thanks for the kind words. The announcement had a lot of moving parts. I create it for non-techy users. I will send your message to MS to see if I get a response on how to assist you.
I have a response for you. The Outlook App on the Mac Store supports MAC OS (operating system) versions 14, 13, and 12. You need to upgrade to a more up-to-date OS version that supports the Outlook app. For example, I have an old computer that I purchased in 2015 with Windows 10. I was unable to upgrade to Windows 11-it's an old computer. I hope this helps. I recommend backing up your important data. After September 16, you will not have access to your emails, calendar, and contacts.
Hi @@traccreations4e thanks a lot for your response again! I am not sure though, I totally understand it.. It seems (just checked again) my Apple Macbook itself, can't upgrade to higher (just like your Windows 10). IS your advice Therefore, backing up possible desired data Because I'll remain unable to use Outlook at my laptop, after September 16? As you do start with the advice of upgrading 🤔🙈.. But as said, that simply doesn't seem to be an option.. I'm totally lost as you might see 😅(!).. My Mobile is a new one, so that at least should support a possible required update or so..
@@ennabanena You are correct about being unable to upgrade your laptop to their newer Outlook app. For your mobile device, you are okay if you "did not" set up your account using POP or IMAP settings. For example, during account setup, if you were requested for a --> POP Password or --> IMAP setting port number like 993 then you are impacted and must re-download the Outlook app to your mobile device.
I apologize on the delayed response. I thought I had addressed everyone questions. Supported Browser Minimum requirements to run Outlook.com: Microsoft Edge (version 79 or later). Chrome (version 79 or later). Firefox (78 or later), Safari (version 16 or later), Opera (76 or later) Remember if you are using POP or IMAP settings, then you must take action.
I am using Windows 7. Use Windows Live Mail and Outlook-PWA, both for email, although I prefer Live Mail, easier to read. I got a couple of those notices from Microsoft. What should I do?
Based on MS documentation, Windows 7 is an unsupported Operating system (OS). You need to update to Windows 10 or 11. I had an old computer purchased in 2015 and was unable to download Windows 11. If you have a newer mobile or tablet device, download the app onto your phone so you can at least access your emails. You can access your email directly from outlook.com website from a supported OS.
@@traccreations4e Hi there again. I know you already told me this since I asked in one of your videos if I would still be able to sign into the Outlook e-mail website with my e-mail and password after September 16th, but I also checked too and I'm still able to sign in with my password on the website which is really great and thanks again very much for letting me know too! I actually wasn't too sure though at first if I also would have been affected or not even though I never received any e-mails or anything from Microsoft about it, and I also know that this change mostly only applies to people who use their Outlook e-mail accounts on third-party apps which I never really use anyway. At least I can still sign in via the website though with the traditional password method which I actually still prefer doing anyway since I've always been so used to signing in that way and everything since I already tried it after the 16th. Thanks again very much!

@ennabanena : I created the Modern Authentication Part 2 Video: th-cam.com/video/KihhTmwrer8/w-d-xo.html This video addresses your question and demonstrates downloading the correct Outlook app.
Great video. But perhaps a little more detail? I Have windows 10 and "Outlook for Windows" Ver: 16 MSO - 64 Bit. I used IMAP and now have the access issues (online only). I tried your option one & set up a new Outlook/Exchange Syncing profile (Control Panel - Mail etc), But I cant add the outlook account because it wants a password and then doesn't accept it (going in circles, route cause of the problem) - It therefore doesn't seem possible to add the outlook email account to the new profile - am I doing something wrong - Help! Re option two, download a new version (2022) of "Outlook for Windows" from the MS Store. It looks VERY different and I believe it has pop up advertisements unless you purchase a Microsoft 365 subscription. How do I get a classic looking (2016 style) Outlook For Windows working on my PC without a Microsoft 365 subscription? I would much prefer to store my emails on my PC.
Question 1: I have followed up with MS and await a response. Question 2: The new Outlook does have a different look and feel from the classic & Outlook 2016. Question 3: If you want a PC version, you must purchase an MS 365 subscription.
@@traccreations4e Hi I don’t understand, why can’t I purchase a 2021 version of Outlook for Desktop (AKA Outlook for Windows) it is I believe Modern Authentication compatible, run it in classic mode and sync it to my outlook online email account? Why do I need a MS 365 account? Can’t I just transfer/use my existing pst email data files on my pc and download any future emails?
@JACB006 MS didn't suggest purchasing Office 2021, and they didn't share their reason in their article or with me. Office 2021 has one-time pricing, no new features, and access to both classic and new Outlook. Also, maintenance will not be supported in 2026. Even if you purchase 2021, you can not connect your account using POP or IMAP. If you are connected to your Outlook directly, you are fine. Office 2024 is coming out soon. @@traccreations4e Thanks once again. The free mail app on Microsoft Store doesn’t have a Calendar. Does have advertisements unless you subscribe to Microsoft 365. I feel that 365 is a slippery slope which will tie you into endless ongoing monthly costs. I don’t really want to have my future access to my email history in the hands of Microsoft for a monthly ransom. For those reasons I would much prefer a one time payment for a copy of Outlook Desktop 2021 that stores my emails on my PC. Do all versions of Desktop Outlook 2021 work with Modern Authentication required by the online outlook servers? Are there any versions of Desktop Outlook 2021 be they LTSC, MSI, MSO or C2R that won’t work, any to avoid? Could you do an upgrade video to show how to get the address book, calendar and most importantly all historic emails from 2016 imported into 2021? I believe that there is a PST file … are there others files involved? Can 2021 read 2016 PST files or do they need to be converted in some way? Does 2021 let you continue to access gmail accounts via IMAP? A video would explain a lot and the uptake, of such a video, would I believe would be huge. Thank you once again.

How old is your phone? Currently, you may have the old Outlook Mail and Calendar app, which requires updating the newer Outlook application. If you have an old phone, the app is unsupported. First, thanks for this video. I am still confused though. I downloaded the new version per your instructions. An icon appeared at the bottom of my desktop. I click it and my outlook email pops up. So am I set, or is there more I need to do? You say to add my account to the new downloaded version, but I don't understand what you mean by this. Was this done automatically, since I was already signed into the "old" version? Do we still use our ID/password to get into Outlook, or are we forever signed in, since the authentication is behind the scenes now? I do appreciate the video though, as I was in a panic not understanding the email Microsoft sent (the final notice). I have a question about something in case if anyone happens to know. I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone else before, but this is something that's been happening with me though lately, so this must be something on my end perhaps or something although I first thought it might have been a glitch with TH-cam. I sometimes happen to notice that some of my comments that I try to post on videos here at TH-cam won't go through sometimes no matter what video I try to comment on even though other people seem to post on videos just fine, and it also seems to last for at least 24 hours too because after a day, or after at least 24 hours rather, then I discover that I'm able to post again and my comments are appearing on videos again as well. Does anyone happen to know what exactly causes that and why it happens? I was just wondering since I just thought of asking since it's been something I've been noticing lately when I would sometimes try to post on various videos even though I haven't received any e-mails from TH-cam or anything like that.
Dewnloaded the ”new” Outlook desktop app on my laptop with Windows 10 and the latest IOS app on my Iphone. what can I do to doublecheck if I’m good now? Thanks for the helpful video! Rick/Stockholm, Sweden
Well, at least I can still be able to sign into my Outlook e-mail account via the website on a web browser such as Microsoft Edge or something with my e-mail address and password that way since I wasn't affected myself by this change which was really nice although I was still very unsure at first if I was also going to be affected by that particular change or not. This is why I honestly really don't like when these companies and websites are always changing up everything all the time, especially since I always get so used to doing certain things after a while as well as doing certain things the old-fashioned way or something. I'm even the same way here with TH-cam too. I still like TH-cam and all, but I honestly sometimes don't like some of the changes that they make though. I even have autism since I'm autistic myself and certain changes are very difficult for me sometimes even though change is a part of life and all since it can't be helped most of the time.

For your mobile device, you are okay if you "did not" set up your account using POP or IMAP settings. For example, during account setup, if you were requested for a
--> POP Password or
--> IMAP setting port number like 993
then you are impacted and must re-download the Outlook app to your mobile device.
@@traccreations4e (Responded to the other similar answer above..^^) Thanks again!
What about logging in through browsers, chrome/edge/firefox ...etc? I never used those apps to login, will this be affected too?
I apologize on the delayed response. I thought I had addressed everyone questions. Supported Browser Minimum requirements to run Outlook.com: Microsoft Edge (version 79 or later). Chrome (version 79 or later). Firefox (78 or later), Safari (version 16 or later), Opera (76 or later)
Remember if you are using POP or IMAP settings, then you must take action.
It's 16th and all still works as it used too. Keeping fingers crossed.

@ennabanena : I created the Modern Authentication Part 2 Video: th-cam.com/video/KihhTmwrer8/w-d-xo.html
This video addresses your question and demonstrates downloading the correct Outlook app.

Hi
I don’t understand, why can’t I purchase a 2021 version of Outlook for Desktop (AKA Outlook for Windows) it is I believe Modern Authentication compatible, run it in classic mode and sync it to my outlook online email account? Why do I need a MS 365 account? Can’t I just transfer/use my existing pst email data files on my pc and download any future emails?
It also gets very confusing with the version terms such as LTSC, MSI, MSO, C2R .. they have clearly never heard the anagram, K.I.S.S. !
Here is details:

Good to know, if this doesn't work, I can still get access to my email account after the 16th, once/if I do get it to work. Thank you
Once you download the app, did you enter your email address and password? If you did, per MS you are all set.
@@traccreations4e Well, I download the app, but the old Outlook is still there as well. The only difference I see, is that there is no where to sign in to the new version.

Brilliant!!!
