It's not only the guitar, his pauses, his voice, the combination of the three are just impossibly impressive. I ask myself if he has any idea of how unique is his ability.
netdaniels does his commercial success at times distract people of his raw ability? I went to one of his gigs and it was full of the radio 1 crowd, talking over it , repeatedly shouting out for his singles . The gig was ruined for me his second album which was amazing seemed at times over shadowed by his poppier first
+Mathias Gabrielsson people don't understand the complexity of different music. They just see a British guy with an acoustic. WOAH must be like Ed Sheeran
"Where to...Where to begin?" Greatest vocalist, greatest guitarist, greatest songwriter, greatest composer, greatest artist of my generation, decisively.
I agree with you on all points! I would add that Ben Howard can create and write songs as if he has lived for generations (instead of less than 30 years). That perspective is the connecting element for all the great singer songwriters (Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Lindsey Buckingham, Nora Jones, Jack Johnson, etc). They all could see a greater depth and breadth of life at a young age, and that made them special. Ben Howard is the next in that legacy, the next generational artist.
When is this dude able to make stupid music? Literally every song touches me and speaks to me in so many ways. It's so deep and he's just my favorite artist.
I'm a singer/songwriter and had a radio interview the other day. The interviewer asked me "if you could play live with any artist out there , who would it be?" And it kinda stumped me. I wish to God I had heard this before. Ben Howard would've been my answer 150% !!!! This dude is nothing short of a GENUIS!!! Love it
I love this version so much, so much intensity. Eyes close. With mr Howard, it always seems that he sings his songs for the first time and with all his passion. Thank you for your music
Oh in dreams I have lain in sin Just to be the cracked and the cared for How can I ask, ask for more? This has to be, for me, the most relatable lyrics from Ben. He puts in words what I can't even begin to explain.
His melody and rhythm is other worldly. His lyrics reach across space and time into the inevitable abyss that swallows up all of existence and shines light up the faces of those consumed. Ben Howard is a musical inspiration and one day he will guide my soul into the house of halcyon and into extreme elation. Thank you Ben for allowing your music to be so free and fruitful.
Getting to watch Ben perform this at a live performance was absolutely beautiful...he closes his eyes through much of his performance, it's like he's feeling whatever made him write the song all over again. Passionate & from his soul.
Want to say something about your music and the only thing I could say something about is your incredible hair. The rest makes me speechless, pure emotions. You're music is so beautiful. Love you man!
Intense. Words to the music here apply to all living now in this dark age. The great acoustic guitar playing is great. Drives the whole song right through your head.
This is maybe my favourite song from I Forgot Where We Were. But the whole album is absolutely amazing! It took me some time to get into it but it grew on me and now I can't stop listening to it. Somehow he managed to do something new and yet keep the same magic from Every Kingdom. I can't wait to hear what he'll do next :)
"Talk of mysteries! - Think of our life in nature, - daily to be shown matter, to come in contact with it, - rocks, trees, wind on our cheeks! The solid earth! the actual world! the common sense! Contact! Contact! Who are we? where are we?"---HDT My king, my stone, the melody I love, no language on this plane can express to you my unfailing gratitude and love, I remember where we were....
I can tell from this album that he has grown so much as a human being and as an artist. it's an album that I can listen to from start to end anytime I pick it up.
Love this song, please do a version of keiko like this, I know it's not on the album, but I'd pay for another album just to get a studio version of keiko!
Yeah, i have hope for him to make an album covering all of his songs not on an album, like keiko, as you said, and also "A hand to hold", "white lights", "Masters" and his cover on "hideaway"?, "are you ready" "Soldiers" "wouldn't be a lie" and so on... Would most defiantly buy that. love all of his songs.
2SICH and her cover brought me here, can't believe I lived 32 years not knowing such an amazing artist as Ben Howard exists
Same here.
Same :)
Same this dude is a beast
same
Same here, only 47 years :)
It's not only the guitar, his pauses, his voice, the combination of the three are just impossibly impressive. I ask myself if he has any idea of how unique is his ability.
One of the best musicians of this time!
netdaniels And the lyrics - don't forget the lyrics.

FUCK ,YEAH!!!!!!!
Hello people with good taste in music!
Probably my favourite recorded performance of his. I can't get over the way he sings the last couple of lines. No words.
I honestly can't see why people compare him to Ed Sheeran? Do they even have anything in common except for playing acoustic music and singing?
+Mathias Gabrielsson people don't understand the complexity of different music. They just see a British guy with an acoustic. WOAH must be like Ed Sheeran
+Mathias Gabrielsson And Ben is way talented on the guitar
+GoldieWow How can you say they have nothing in common then compare them in the same sentence? That actually made no sense.
+loki i think cause of the style
+Mathias Gabrielsson they really don't . He has a completely different style than ed
Ben's music is unreal.. just... UNREAL!!!

I have to agree with most of it but Noel Gallagher is one of the greatest if not the greatest in last 20 years

All true except in songwriting he is second to Conor Oberst

Ben Howard's music takes me to another world!

Ashley, from Mirkwood All of his music is stupid. STUPID GOOD!!! Some people are other worldly with their abilities. This guy is one.
+Ashley, from Mirkwood Hopefully never. He's one of the few lights that gives me hope about music in our century
+Jiz Anthapus
well put!
+Ashley, from Mirkwood same here:) good taste gurllll:P
The 2SICH cover of this song is equally amazing.
Anyone listening to this in 2020? This song just calms me ❤
"Always a thing of wonder, the way we come to be..."
I keep returning to this. He is a legend.
I've seen that in dreams too, Ben. You're not alone.
I got chills when I read your comment.
I've seen it too.

This song is perfect for "The walkind dead". It's really perfect in both lyrics and music!

In dreams I play my guitar this well.
What a blessing it is to know this artist now. I know I'm late, but I'm so glad I'm here.💎🙌🏾
The second half of this song reminds me a lot of Gracious, such a surreal calm to the harmonies, love it
This melody is genius!🔥🔥

Magnificent......
I hope your ok Ben...you beautiful soul 😎🤗
The sound of the guitar and his voice... just awesome.
A remarkable artist, with outstanding messages throughout his albums! This song in particular sounds magnificent!
His picking accuracy is ridiculous, his left hand is a machine.
Those lost lines make me think of a summer in Tibet. At nightfall, the prayers, bells, music, altogether in a wooden temple...
Oh wow, Ben Howard you are totally awesome,, amazing finger picking and great voice

Soul-touching...
The song has a calming effect and

Can´t believe that anyone could actually compare Ben and Ed Sheeran . Ben is a profound artist , with guitar chops , poetic lyrics !
And I may be troubled
But I'm gracious in defeat
beautiful phrase indeed

im so emotionally attached to him and his music :(
Amazing. So much soul behind his music. It's breathtaking.
Bends my head everytime I listen to Ben. Man, your a genius. Keep on keeping on brother.
Only to be able to watch and hear makes me feel so full of limitations, I wish I had more senses available to enjoy Ben's music. But yet I'm blessed.
