The ECU on most SR50's is three screws away. The unit he is replacing is the CDI which doesnt need to be touched to derestrict. Infact none of the restrictions are at the ECU on the carb model, only the SiS valve deactivation. All that needs doing at the ECU is the black/white wire cutting or swap out for a malossi digitronic ECU which utilizes the SiS valve, removes the rev limiter and advances the ignition slightly. The digitronic wont improve performance, only save cutting the wire. A tidier job if you can stretch to it plus its handy if you decide to go beyond simple derestricting.
