  • #comettroy takes the viewer along for his first hand experience of excavator dirt work after the actual land clearing excavation with heavy equipment (Hitachi Zaxis 200LC track hoe and John Deere bulldozer) shown previously in Week 1 of 4. "Dirt work" is a excavation industry term for moving earth from one location to another. Watch the transformation of Linden Camp, a future RV park and barndo 5 minutes southeast of Linden, TN. The heavy machinery may be doing all of the heavy lifting, but Comet Troy is the man with the vision and aspirations to make a computer sketch become a reality. This week will be mainly focused on the dirt work but ends with a wild chain of events for Comet Troy including a forest fire, a new battle scar on the RV and a spooktackular Pagen Witchery tree! You won't want to miss this!

    This is one of my favorites so far. Great job on it. It's exciting to see the progress being made and now I really see it instead of trying to visualize it . Love it ❤️

      We just started this channel in April 2022 and began very unorganized. There was no video plan and we just recorded EVERYTHING!
      Fast forward to August, we came up with a video plan for excavation, sorted through all our video and then had to record new content to fit the plan. Then it all needs to be edited (removing uh, ah's, redundancy, etc) and stitched together. Rendered (Produced) into a single video. Reviewed. Uploaded to TH-cam. Fill out on the TH-cam fields/links. Whew, it is a lot of work!
      I think we've got better through this learning experience and have more "intention" now and going forward. We just need to get through these darn excavation videos first! HaHa

      That is very true and great advice! #comettroy has been building fires successfully for decades without incident. In this case, he believes he let his guard down under the false sense of security created by placing the rocks to build the firepit that day. The false sense of security came from "I've had fires out here without a pit at all and didn't have an issue. Now that I have rocks organized in a containment ring, I've got an extra level of protection and have lowered my risk."

    A very interesting video that got my heart pumping! My A-Fib almost kicked in -- especially when I saw that Witchery Tree! When you said it was the most stressful day you've had there so far, I can see why. But it's very interesting to see all the progress being made. It's really starting to take shape. Excellent job with this video! Like how you explained chert.

      We are on our way to Linden Camp and have gallons of Triclopyr 3 and 4 with us to battle those pesky invasive plants & trees! Stay tuned to see some videos on this topic and how well it works.

    Great progress, so exciting to see! Very sorry about the motorhome damage! I thought I'd die when I saw the fire jump! Keep a shovel and a big bucket of dirt or sand near your fire ring. Hubby suggests keeping an Indian Pump (pressurized backpack pump) as well. See you next video!

      We'd like to put 55 gal drums or a 300 gal container up on an 8' stand to catch rain water near campfire pits that don't have a water spigot nearby. Then use as an outdoor shower and also as a fire safety measure. We'll have to check into an Indian Pump as well!

    I guess we were a larger grading and excavation company than you're dealing with. If there was to be any burning, we put a 1200 gallon hydroseeder full of water on the site. We also disposed of the wastes instead of leaving it to the site boss. Good luck with your development.

      You have to understand how rural Perry County is to put things in perspective. Swarey Excavating is the Dad and his three sons... their operation is on the larger side in the immediate area!
      FYI, we requested they leave the larger logs for us to cut up into firewood. Otherwise, they would have gladly addressed and disposed of them.

    I had cut down a small tree like the Witchery tree last week. I had never seen anything like it. We live on TN-KY state line north of Nashville. Probably similar plant life to Linden.

    • @RvParkBuilder
      @RvParkBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It looks like we have at least two invasive species (Tree of Heaven and another with giant leaves) on Linden Camp that are native to China. The witchery tree may have been a full grown adult version of one of those. We will do more investigation this fall when back on site and have some future video ideas. Additionally, we have found some sources and clues indicating our loblolly pines planted by wood harvesting companies may be GMO. Stay tuned!

    • @timsteiner5983
      @timsteiner5983 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a giant leaf plant 2 ft high near the witchery that I also cut down. Our land has hardwoods(tulip poplar, oak, hickory, ash, walnut) in the hollers and had been pasture and replanted pines on the ridges before it was subdivided into .5 to 2 acre lots around a Army Corps of Engineers lake.

    • @RvParkBuilder
      @RvParkBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's the same giant leaf tree (looks like a plant when small) we have, it's probably called a "Princess Tree". This may be witchery tree in it's infancy. We just love the names of these invasive plants/trees..... "Tree of Heaven" and "Princess Tree"! Who wouldn't want them growing on their land? LOL
      BTW, cutting them down is NOT what you want to do! The sprawling roots will detect the decapitation of the tree and will shoot up a bunch of root suckers in it's place for survival. From the research we've gathered so far, those invasive plants/trees need to be slowly poisoned over a 2 year period by breaching the bark with a hatchet and applying the chemical to the wound. The tree won't know any better. The chemical is also applied to the root suckers and no need to cut a slit if they are small. Good Luck!

    Im am interested in land in that area. Can you tell me how to check on what tracks are available?

    • @RvParkBuilder
      @RvParkBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you drive through the area, each lot will have a yard sign displaying a lot number. Once it is sold, the yard sign is flipped around and it will say "SOLD". When #comettroy drove around in November 2021, that's what he did.... Looked for yard signs.
