I found Dr. Stiassny's presentation at the Secret Science Club in fall of 2010 so fascinating that I am still thinking about it frequently. I ended up here because I was looking for more information on the prehistoric Congo Basin great lake that she described, but haven't really found much information. I was curious about how such a lake and it's sudden draining into the Atlantic would have altered climate in Africa, particularly whether it was a catalyst in the evolution of humans.
