Tito The Raccoon It is difficult to describe because of the limited sounds you have in English! *Tvättbjörn* . Ä (short) - pronounced like 'e' in wet or in the name Elsa. Ö (long) - pronounced like 'i' in bird. Perhaps you know the name Bjorn, replace the O with an Ö. The narrator says it in this video: th-cam.com/video/qJBvyJRwEkU/w-d-xo.html at 0:08. In another video: th-cam.com/video/HBCZgrDWPec/w-d-xo.html at 0:05. They both have a strong dialect but it's the best that I could find. th-cam.com/video/PHwctLDOQgs/w-d-xo.html at 0:05 (she says "...fånga tvättbjörnen" quite fast)
Tito The Raccoon haha yeah, that's why I was surprised when you said raccoon was sometimes called "trash panda", which is contradicting the Swedish name for it. Thanks for responding to my comment!
Ha yeah it’s because they are always eating out of trash cans. We had a couple of them get stuck in our trash cans at work and we had to help them get out. It’s a semi common thing 😂
I’d never seen a raccoon in real life before until I moved to a new place last year. We had a group of 8 girls that would come around every night when we’d sit in the backyard in the evenings just to hang out with us. We weren’t feeding them at that time. They responded kindly to us based on how we talked to them and the tones of the voice we’d use. Two sisters came more so than the others and used to follow us around the yard and up and down the driveway. They’d sit on my running shoe and fend off any marauders that may have stumbled in accidentally. One of the sisters, Phyllis, was VERY tough and always protecting her more shy sister, Tyra (from stranger raccoons), who was disabled in her front paw. They always tried to undo shoelaces and take our socks off, and when we’d bend over, run around and stick their cold noses down our butt crack!!? LOL! It was like an ice cube down your pants! They were crazy! Sadly, we only saw them once more last winter and then never again. We then had a male raccoon, Marvin, who was the kindest soul that started to come around. He would start coming out at around 3-4pm and hang out every day and multiple times at night. I should mention that we started to leave out fresh, cold water containers during record breaking heat waves this past summer. Marvin eventually brought a female, Elsie, to meet us. What we didn’t know is that she had just birthed SIX Kits who she brought with her for breakfast, snacks, fresh water, and left us to babysit on a few occasions while she had a cat-nap in a tree or shed nearby! We were honoured that she trusted us with this responsibility, which was also a lot of fun for us! They are sadly gone and we now have another male, Gilbert, who has just started coming around and LOVES grapes! We never thought much about raccoons prior to having personal encounters like this and now they are a major part of our environment and we talk about them often!
Aww that’s really sad that they don’t come around any more! Do you think something got them or just moved on from the place? Unfortunately, most raccoons only make it like 1-3 years on average in the wild 😒. I absolutely love the momma raccoon and her babies that visit us! Besides Tito these are like the only wild raccoons I’ve ever seen! They are a blast to watch!
@@TitoTheRaccoon One myth is that they make great pet and are just like owning a dog. A raccoon is not for everyone. Another myth is there harmless and wouldn't hurt a fly. Yeah, tell that to all my neighbors dead cats.
Excellent information!! I do believe that these creatures are often misunderstood. You very appreciated for teaching us "ignorant folk" about these crafty critters! Thank you!!! I love watching Tito & the bunch that visit your porch, at night. Keep sharing. It's great!
My wild raccoons do something similar.....one little guy, especially tame, brings a rock to my door and "taps" the glass when he wants food. I love it. So smart!!! I thank you for all the knowledge you pass along.....raccoons are one of the most interesting animals....you're so lucky to have Tito! PS- the bath time video is great. He is adorable!
You should strap a go-pro on Tito, and then leave him roaming in your house for an hour to see what he does. That would be pretty cool. And this video is awsome, so is Tito.
Haha we would see what would be left of the house 😂. He is very clumsy and knocks things over. He also likes to chew cables. Unfortunately raccoons need a lot of super vision! They are like little toddlers!
Great to see Tito is doing well!!!! I absolutely absolutely love Tito....!!!! And love you for giving Tito a tremendous life!!!!! I just lost my little baby Wolfie....my 19 year old cat.....so devastated....so broken hearted.....
Oh no! That’s heart breaking 😭. Sorry to hear that! Losing pets is like the hardest thing ever. I remember when we had to put our dog down 😒. But I’m glad you like tito! Hopefully he can take your mind off of that for a bit.
Yes, very informative and also Heartwarming watching Tito. The Brothers here at The Monastery really loved the Bathtub scene as well as the Very Cute still photo at the end of the Video... it would make an Excellent Card. God's Blessings to Your Wife, You and Tito.
Great video! Actually. Raccoons have a small throat, and washing their food helps them swallow better. I had a male for 18 years, had him since about 8 weeks old, I miss him. He was one of the family. Also he loved when I put my left over live minnows in his little pond. He would catch them between his fingers without looking, and eat them right down.
First I want to say Tito is adorable ! He looks so cute looking for his rock in the tub. Thank u for the information I also heard that all Raccoons have rabies I'm glad u cleared that up. I also wanted to add u have done a great job raising Tito he's just too cute.
I used to raise chickens but they would die of natural causes or by Racoons and other predators. I said enough and started feeding just the Deer and Racoons and it is awesome. I have so many that come visit but two are my favorite, Smiley Cyrus and Rocket. They come tap me on the hand or just smile and do the intl sign for where's the food. I'm a Veteran with a bad case of PTSD and they fill my sleepless nights, I Love them.
Love all your videos, cute and educational. I live in the country, but over the years have fed the local raccoons some dry cat food at night when they would visit my back porch. Well, the Mother raccoons learned that I provided water, food and safety. I have never pet any of them, yet they will gently take food from a plate I hold in front of me. They never are rude, and are too damn cute! Anyway, 6 years later families have flourished and thrived, and every evening I go out in our yard down by the big trees and feed them. They wait patiently outside for me, follow me walking and I spred out their food. I've tried fruits, different meats, but for some reason they always want the dry cat food. So I feed about 10 lbs each night to 18 raccoons that are in our extended family. They still have to find other food in the wild, 10 lbs. Spred over 18 of them, just gives them a little treat each night. Wonderful little creatures !
Excellent. Good luck to you and Tito!!! I see my young/teenagers come out early who don't want to compete; also the Moms with kits - just as you say...early bird gets the food; not as much competition.
That’s awesome! What time do they usually come out? Ours stopped coming out during the day now that the kits can come out on there own! I love the wild raccoons that visit me as well

Trash panda eating trash as usual at 7:22. I agree with the part about you stating that it's a wise idea to stick to watching cute raccoon videos on the internet, instead of petting a wild one although I would love to feed a trash panda someday myself, but I prefer watching them instead. You never know. They're one of my favorite animals of all time and I just love them so much.

thanks for clearing up the "washing their food" myth. I always thought they do wash their food, mainly because in german raccoon is "Waschbär" and Wasch (waschen) means cleaning.
1st commenter Also love raccoons!!! Never knew the reason why they put their all over the things they touch is because of receptors on their paws!!! I would’ve never guessed!!! Thank You 😊
Great info! I realized these things, but many don't, especially if they don't live around wildlife. I was going to ask about a bath after the dirt eating episode (*nutrients and small bugs etc. in soil) if you bathed Tito. So, obviously you do, but I'm not sure if he likes a bath xD typical boy.
When he was looking for his rock in the bath it reminded me of when I drop the soap in the tub and have to frantically try and find it before it disolves cuz my brain likes to get all paranoid for no reason
Thank you for the information. Recently my dog has gotten in some fights with raccoons and I always worry about rabies, but since you said most are clean, that makes me more at ease.
I have several racoons around my house and I get along with them very well. They play with my cats and they socially inter act with me. They are very sweet creatures.
Thank you for your excellently presented video, and for the additional insights regarding "all things raccoon" ;) Re 01:48: I completely understand your logic here and all of the benefits for Tito by having more "awake time" to experience activity.. my only concern here is related to some of the "sleep research" I have been studying over the last year or so (as a simple amateur mind you). Some of the lectures and reports I studied indicates that our internal clock (circadian rhythm) is biologically fixed and cannot be recalibrated. This affects things such as our energy level at different hours, our appetite, and most importantly the *quality* of sleep we experience. I'm very interested in sleep-related science, so I mostly try to learn and share the more "provable" or "rational" (shiny) coins that I find -- this was my two cent gift to you :>
Aww he is such a cutie! I am a new sub and thanks to you're videos I have decided that I want to be racoon momma! I just don't know where I could go to find a baby racoon in my area 😟 do you think the animal prtective league would have any? If so I will be the first and probably only one there to adopt unfortunately because of the stigma on racoons people are either afraid of them or find them repulsive but to me they are beautiful creatures that just need love and companionship! I always stop to feed the racoons in my neighborhood park they eat right out of my hand too, since I live in a city the racoons here are more used to people and are very docile but people around me still gasp in amazment as I'm feeding them... Thank you for making thses videos proving the stigma wrong and also for sharing handsome little Tito with us! 😍❤
Actually the reason they “wash their food” it’s because their sense of touch (wich is their main sense, like us the sight) gets even more sensitive when the hans are wet. Remember raccoons are associated with corpses of water.
Loved this! Just a reminder though, had that worm slept a bit longer, that bird wouldn't have ate him :) LOL! Just for those who need a lazy explanation. :D
Aw Tito! He’s cuter than my rat babies lol. Yeah a lot of pest animals share their bad reputation with their domestic cousins unfortunately. I’ve had plenty of people tell me I’m going to get rat bite fever from my pet rats. Extremely extremely unlikely....
Yeah unfortunately most people speak out of ignorance but try to act like they have the years of experience to back it up. Haha don’t let your rats here you say that 😂! Do they know any tricks? At my university someone was teaching rats how to play basketball. They are so smart!
Tito is so cute and he melts my heart every time I see him now I rlly want a pet raccoon 🦝 hopefully once my parents watch these videos they’ll be convinced
I'm curious... what kind of pre/misconceptions did you have before adopting Tito? How well has reality reflected your expectations? Was it easier? Harder?
I learned more about them from you than google and you-tube. They are so misunderstood and demonized, trying to convince people that they do not all have rabies is almost impossible. They are more cat like than anything else. I follow you and love your videos. 👍🤗
I've "thought about" adopting a raccoon before.. and I never acted on this, mostly due to the reality of the discipline and risks involved as a keeper. After watching several of your videos now, I'm convinced that living with a racoon would likely send me back into deep depression.. as it seems they experience and perceive the world with such childlike energy and ambition.. even though they have fewer cone cells for vision, I feel they can see much more brilliance and color than I can, and I would always be envious.
How much does Tito weigh? We had a raccoon stroll across our deck recently and he was huge! If I had to guess, he weighed 40 lbs. Of course, I realize that they are very furry. Love your videos 😍
I love their hands. I saved a baby raccoon and used my hallway and garage for her play area and eating area. She slept in the tree all day. She would not stay inside. Unfortunately one night it was raining bad and I couldn't sit outside and she ran into the road and was killed by a car. Best furry friend ever. Wish I would have switched her schedule and kept her inside a few weeks. She was probably 7 or 8 months old. I miss her so much.
I like your emo cat.

I have several racoons around my house and I get along with them very well. They play with my cats and they socially inter act with me. They are very sweet creatures.
Thank you for your excellently presented video, and for the additional insights regarding "all things raccoon" ;)
Re 01:48: I completely understand your logic here and all of the benefits for Tito by having more "awake time" to experience activity.. my only concern here is related to some of the "sleep research" I have been studying over the last year or so (as a simple amateur mind you). Some of the lectures and reports I studied indicates that our internal clock (circadian rhythm) is biologically fixed and cannot be recalibrated. This affects things such as our energy level at different hours, our appetite, and most importantly the *quality* of sleep we experience. I'm very interested in sleep-related science, so I mostly try to learn and share the more "provable" or "rational" (shiny) coins that I find -- this was my two cent gift to you :>
Thanks for that. Very informative. Tito has a very good friend in you.
he is really very cute your raccoon, bravo for the video 👍
Thank you!
I love the underwater shot of Tito
Love you, Mr Tito 💛💛💛💛
Thank you 😊
Aww he is such a cutie! 😍❤
Why doesn't he have more subscribers? I can't stop watching. I'm going to need a Tito 12-step program LOL
You’re so cute he’s so cute ... can’t handle it❤️
Thanks 🙂
Actually the reason they “wash their food” it’s because their sense of touch (wich is their main sense, like us the sight) gets even more sensitive when the hans are wet. Remember raccoons are associated with corpses of water.
Loved this! Just a reminder though, had that worm slept a bit longer, that bird wouldn't have ate him :) LOL! Just for those who need a lazy explanation. :D
Thanks! How’s the camera 🙂
@@TitoTheRaccoon Really like it! Easy to use and the clarity is awesome :)
What a cute little fellow. And the raccoon too!!
Great video keep up the good work!
Thanks!
They are carriers. When they get old, rabies comes out, quick.
Thank you for another great video🐕🐾🐩🐅🐆🐈🐾
He really is obsessed with that rock...
Tito is so cute and he melts my heart every time I see him now I rlly want a pet raccoon 🦝 hopefully once my parents watch these videos they’ll be convinced
Idk who’s cuter- Tito or his owner. 😍
Definitely Tito 🤣
Just subscribed, love the videos
LOVE the video as usual!!!! Raccoons need more love!!!!
I HAVE LOVED TITO SINCE! MORE POWER!
An amazingly beautiful animal.
My daily dose of all that CUTENESS...🙌🙌🙌
3:55 I love that song!!
I was looking at the merch and thinking you should put out a black hoodie🌚
I could probably do something like that 😊
@@TitoTheRaccoon that would be awesome😊
Yeah I'm sorry raccoons are just my favorite animal so i dont like when people say they have rabies and i dont like When people hunt them for fun
