    Hi @the truth reviews, I replaced the 500gb SSD into my X5 with the new 970 EVO plus 2TB. With 500gb I reached 2800 read and 2300 write. With 970 evo plus I reach 2800 read but only 1000mb in write and I can't understand which could be the reason....any idea? thank you

    Wondering how the new 980 Pro would perform in this enclosure and if it's compatible with that drive.

    Thank you for your video. I want to know if all SSDs with the same nvme socket are applicable

    Hi, congratulations for the video tutorial, can you tell me if the upgrade also works with the Samsung 980 pro?

    Thank you for this DIY! Can you tell me if inside Samsung X5 enclosure is possible to install a M.2 dual side?

    This is great man, wouldnt have guessed it would be that simple. How has the unit been running with the swap as of lately since you made it?

      It runs faster than the stock SSD drive. My only worry is both the stock SSD and the one we put in get VERY hot. Truth be told. There is no noticeable difference when editing off this compared to a T5 SSD. Only transfer speeds when importing media.

      @matthewblakejohnston 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TruthReviews would you say the 970 runs hotter than the stock one.
      Also the speed drop off, were you running into that with the stock M.2?

      @@TruthReviews So there's no noticeable difference on an X5 and T5? how about booting on it? and opening apps speed?

  • @iftibashir
    @iftibashir 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Im currently reviewing the Glyph Atom Pro SSD - it doesn't throttle the speed right down like the X5 does. It is more expensive though, but the speeds are constantly sustained. Much recommended over the X5.
    Video will be up in a few hours....

    The stutter might be from you not having the cache folder, buffer folder or what its called in the same library as the location you pulled the file from. I have the same ssd and havent noticed any thing i havent really done any big projects though.

    Please note that my X5 1T, in a warm summer day, with ambient temperatures at 30C, not only that runs incredibly hot, but throttles down to about 50MB/s, which is far, far less than expected. Unless you live in a cold environment, I definitely do not recommend this disk.

    my friend do you mean that there is no difference between the X5 and T5 in the programs performance ?
    i'm going to buy the " T5 " to use it as boot camp for windows and installing programs on it .
    so is it better to buy the x5 instead , or there is no difference performance ? i don't care about transferring time .

      There is a big performance difference. I've tried this and although the T5 runs well enough reads and write around 500mbs, the X5 is about 4-5x that. Saying that though.. it is still fast enough really to be a boot drive (the T5), but it won't be as fast as your internal ssd. It's about somewhere between a hard drive and a standard internal ssd (not the PCIe/nvme internal ssd speeds).. but for the inexpensiveness it may be worth it, and it would be acceptable for basic things. Hope this helps!

      It won't really make a difference for Windows and Programs. But if you do video editing it would be useful for the source files or media cache. Depends on the program though.

    Hey man, Did you have any issues ejecting the X5 from your Mac? When I eject my X5 it disappears from the desktop but doesn't actually power down, so when I unplug it and plug it back in I get the 'disk not ejected properly' message. I'm wondering if the Samsung password software has anything to do with this ? Ideally I'd like to just get rid of the Samsung software now and try and use it without it, but I also have no idea how to uninstall the Samsung software !

      @jorron9381 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Save the software that comes with the SSD installed on the drive and move/copy this to your internal or different external drive. Once done you can format or erase the drive with Disk Utility to any format you like and it’s done.

    When I swap with 2Tb evo 970 write speed block to 1300Mb/s and read is good 2400Mb/s. Test on another enclosure and get back 2100Mb/s for write but not X5. X5 original disk 500Mb write to 2100Mb/s but each time test with 2To evo write fall back to 1300Mb/s.
