Rasputina, Boa, Cibo Matto... these beautiful weirdos carried me over some rough waters, entering the new millennium as a highly affected young teenager. So good to see in these comments that they're still enjoyed ❤🔥
Rasputina is my favorite group. Melora makes sense in a way that is not easily digested by the masses, who are asses. twenty years and I love it just as much as I did 20 Years ago..
Likewise! We took our daughter to see them when she was a kid and she loved them! (One of the few shows we dragged her along to she really enjoyed ;) She recently got an aquarium and has a dwarf frog and when she showed me said " I wanna tell you about my friend the dwarf frog " Haha!
jammed it in 2000, forgot it until now... Man... is that the ending drum riff of Black Sabbath "Behind the Wall of Sleep" driving the intro of this song??? I had to take ownership of my dad's old records before I would ever notice that.
This album was a huge influence on my project "Vernian Process". The first time I heard it I was on my first mushroom trip, and it was quite an experience.
Good music was never lost. We just need to dig deeper than what is right in front of us. I'm so glad I took the time to listen to Rasputina (though I should be doing my essay right now) :)
I love this song. I saw the video a VERY long time ago, but I didnt know the name of the group. Today I saw their picture, and now I finally know. Awesome!
Dig this band big-time for their warm, deep sound and (really) retro image. Cello rock...very interesting. Bonus points on this one for the Space Ghost reference. It's probably a cliche by now to point it out, but I really miss the 90's.
I was going through Old photos and found some photos taken at a very small intimate concert. My friends band played this Pagan festival in Oberlin Ohio and opened for them... but the crowd was small and we were all hanging out. Of course the photo I had with Melora was the blurry one.. of course...
I LOVE IT!!!! Ah, too bad the bloated record companies couldn't keep their heads out of their --es and continue to spend money on this band ... All of the awesome videos that could have been ... sigh
What becomes a legend most? I'll let you think about it, Space Ghost coast-to-coast While I give thanks today For all the things I stole And all the things I gave away. You make experiment, you try to Teach a lesson and then take a stand. A fake handshake don't make no man. I don't know about a year ago or so I must have made you up in my head. What did I base you on? Was it a Broadway show I saw? A hot new book I read? Half-baked you come at me You know I told you not to call here no more. The New Best Friend, The Olde Headboard. Yo no comprendo, mi amour. Oh no, yo no comprendo. The New Best Friend, The Olde Headboard. Where'd you get the dumb idea For all the secretive platonic dating? I have experience In the love and the lives Of Man and Machine. Yo no comprendo, mi amour. Oh no, yo no comprendo. The New Best Friend, The Olde Headboard. What becomes a legend most? The love and the lives of Man and Machine. Olde Headboard. The love and the lives of Man and Machine. Olde Headboard.
*i had a vision of melora, last night or the night before, i forget. it was an outfit she was wearing and it was very beautiful. totally her style. very feminine. had a red heart centerpiece, tank top style dress or blouse, lace trims, very pretty. the heart represents how loved she is.*
I thought about Rasputina recently, while questioning fans of an artist by the name of Lindsay Stirling on what they find so great about her. Decent violinist. Decent dancer. I don't undestand why people are literally WILD about her, is all. I guess I'm spoiled by Melora's addictive cello silliness--listening to The Olde HeadBoard for the first time in months, maybe years... Oh how I have missed it. Missing Frustration Plantation (also Olde HeadBoard) on my MP3 player... That's my problem.
@lostchild06 Rasputina did not leave Sony/Columbia, they were dropped by the label due to unpromising sales of their 'How We Quit the Forest' album. 'Ether' was somewhat of a success especially due to the attention granted to the band by the Marilyn Manson scene, however initial sales for 'Forest' proved disappointing. They were declared a financial liabity and there contract was promptly revoked. Despite success elswhere, 'Forest' has since been taken out of print.
I guess Clay got around, eh? I know this is about him. That whole platonic stringing along in public thing. Guess he liked his spooky gurls. I heard and loved this song before I met him. Wish I had understood the meaning before I also got burned. I guess none of this matters anymore.
They opened for Manson and they opened for smashing pumpkins saw them with pumpkins Oct 31st 1996 I believe. I was amazed how talented they are on those cellos AMAZING....and I was told they are as well a part of a coven of witches ( their songs kind of back this) all the way around one of the truly different groups in the '90s apocalyptic and trans Siberian had to be fans of these ladies...listen to their cover of baracuda....amazing
@FourthMetalArm They left the label beause they felt like it just wasnt for them. They didnt have their own rights for personal creativity. Everything was being chosen for them after a while. Now they are with another label, I forgot the name, it's something bonnet, something like that. Anyways, many fans have made videos for their songs. You can find em around on youtube. They are pretty good. I even made one for their Hunter's Kiss" song.
Rasputina showed the world that the Cello is a badass instrument.
Love em for that
I went to high school with Melora. Her sister, Rachel, was in my graduating class.
That's so cool!
2024 aint stopin the song
Yesss
shit doesnt get old
This, is gold ✨️ ⚘️
Rasputina, Boa, Cibo Matto... these beautiful weirdos carried me over some rough waters, entering the new millennium as a highly affected young teenager. So good to see in these comments that they're still enjoyed ❤🔥
More than anything about her or Rasputina I love Melora's uniqueness. She has a genius for putting it out there.
2022 and I still blast this song.
Me too!
Also me!
2023
Sorry
2023
10 years later, and I'm still loving this song
This song is older than ten years old.
@@abuse-steers That's true, but I remember watching this on TH-cam 10 years ago is all haha

Still loving this song?

Haven't listened to this since high school. Forgot how much I adore them!
Everything about Melora and Rasputina is so inspirational. She means so much to me.
I hope melora knows how loved she is by people the world over
Rasputina is my favorite group. Melora makes sense in a way that is not easily digested by the masses, who are asses. twenty years and I love it just as much as I did 20 Years ago..
Got nostalgic for some Rasputina. Big fan. Introduced your music to my daughter when she was a kid, and she became a huge fan.
Likewise! We took our daughter to see them when she was a kid and she loved them! (One of the few shows we dragged her along to she really enjoyed ;)
She recently got an aquarium and has a dwarf frog and when she showed me said " I wanna tell you about my friend the dwarf frog " Haha!
I love these lovely lady's southern gothic aesthetic, it evokes images akin to what I felt when I read William Faulkner and Cormac McCarthy.
Found 3 Rasputin’s CDs at Goodwill and figured they would be like Switchblade Symphony.. o ride to it with top on drop
jammed it in 2000, forgot it until now... Man... is that the ending drum riff of Black Sabbath "Behind the Wall of Sleep" driving the intro of this song??? I had to take ownership of my dad's old records before I would ever notice that.

Ahhh... just like a fine wine. Actually wore out my "How We Quit The Forest" cd, had to buy another one! 🎻🎵🎶
I saw them live a few months ago and they were amazing! I'm glad I'm playing the cello still 👌❤
Now I remember, there is good music out there. How I forgot.
I absolutely adore this kind of music.
Talented and beautiful ladies. Still loving your albums.
The costumes and makeup in this video are amazing. The first scene with the water is the best.
Good music was never lost. We just need to dig deeper than what is right in front of us. I'm so glad I took the time to listen to Rasputina (though I should be doing my essay right now) :)
Holy shit I didn't know she even had music videos! Loved seeing her live!
Literally the best music video I have ever seen.
Victorian Gothic music churned up in a cauldron, with all manner of boogie woogie witchy woo, until it comes out madder than a hatter.
They have so many more songs that exemplify this way better than this one
Lol
Melora is a gift to humanity❤
haven't heard this song in years.....♥♥♥
love this
First time I listen to this. I'm loving it, impressively. This is my type of stuff.
I love this song. I saw the video a VERY long time ago, but I didnt know the name of the group. Today I saw their picture, and now I finally know. Awesome!
OMG. This is the First Song i Heard from this band...FIrst impressions are best...I likem NOW:) Im looking forward to their sucess

I passed out demos in Deep Ellum for em, but they forgot most their friends when they got record deal.
LOVE THIS BAND!
Trippy as hell; I love it!
2022, still listening. Melora is eternal.
Dig this band big-time for their warm, deep sound and (really) retro image. Cello rock...very interesting.
Bonus points on this one for the Space Ghost reference. It's probably a cliche by now to point it out, but I really miss the 90's.
How did I not know this video existed?? I have only loved them since they only had two albums ...
o.o
that.... was.... AMAZING!!!
*drool* I love this so much.
This band lives deliciously.
It's been a while. What a song!
This video is exquisite
The spinning contraption is awesome, with them playing their cellos... it should be made into an automata toy!
I was going through Old photos and found some photos taken at a very small intimate concert. My friends band played this Pagan festival in Oberlin Ohio and opened for them... but the crowd was small and we were all hanging out. Of course the photo I had with Melora was the blurry one.. of course...
Ah, the infinite weirdness of Rasputina. Pure F**king brilliance!
I LOVE IT!!!! Ah, too bad the bloated record companies couldn't keep their heads out of their --es and continue to spend money on this band ... All of the awesome videos that could have been ... sigh
Everyone keep pressing replay... we can TAKE IT TO THE MILLION!
Wow. This is unique.
Heather King cbc charity to new york.....love your concert in the 90s

Am I the only one that’s still watching in 2018

I'm still here and I just saw them in concert a couple weeks ago
Nope!
I just saw it a few weeks ago.

You like Buffy, Rasputina and Space Ghost, therefore; you are amazing, my friend.
Found this at a record shop on CD
Very cool stuff! We like! :-)

The five dislikes have never been to The Olde Headboard. Sad really...

I want her entire wardrobe.
Came for the Space Ghost reference, stayed for the
The what?
I will never not love this song.
Oh good ...
** yassss**
It's so weird that this music video doesn't emphasize her cello playing more. You can tell it's corporate.
Un grupo magnífico, poco conocido
Sexy steampunk
wow, very cool
My first thought about Rasputina, "she just mentioned space ghost?"
+Toby Dipaola Yay
btw I didn't even know coast-to-coast when I created this username
I think she's saying that current art forms serve the same purpose as mythology.
😂
Because she's awesome and they are totally cool chicks 🙌🏻
Most of their lyrics make no sense...I 'm here for the music.

Does anyone know who directed this video? I've been looking forever for some info and i can't find anything.
失散多年,终于找回来了
What genre of music is this Alternative??
Cello Rock and Dark Cabaret
There's no ther band like them dude
Damn, I remember seeing them open for Marilyn Manson back in…. 1998, I believe. They were great.
Dig it. Period.
2:12 looks like me when I see my mom bring in chip's from the store.
@batzangelika Oh my hell!! I totally agree!!
Mel's creation.. History nerd with a touch of weird and a slash of creativity....
It makes me wonder why we are so messed up.
Cello

I love, love, love their cover of brand new key, too.
Tangential, but have you ever listened to the dickies cover of nights in white satin? It's fuckin wild, but it works.
I love the hair
I just want it to come up in search without having to add the A to Rasputin.
Lulz @ all the newbie fans. I want to see them live so bad!
Just found this in 2019
@FourthMetalArm They left the label beause they felt like it just wasnt for them. They didnt have their own rights for personal creativity. Everything was being chosen for them after a while. @RudraNightmare cool.
I love 90s music. This is kind of Steampunk-ish no?
I like this moment too
@madig100 -- I'm dying for having them also...
@KaptnKabaret thanks! ^_^
