    It's awesome people like her are looking into this. It's a miserable condition. I have the nose sprays and such, but it's sooooooo easy for me to get sick.

    Vasomotor Rhinitis sucks. My trigger is a sudden drop in temperature. This lead me avoiding drinking cold drinks and always expecting to get a cold a day after drinking iced drinks. Also I found out this is very consistent and very predictable to me though. I live in Singapore which is very humid and hot (can get around 38C) So when I want to drink something cold or eating ice cream, I have to make sure I don't go to school the day after.
    PS: I wrote this while sneezing like 5 times, It's annoying.

    I have the same, triggered by weather changes, the blood vessels in the nose swell up and I am left without any sense of smell or taste. Also my voice changes every time, headache, pressure feeling in the head and a higher resting heart rate.

    I have a lot of trouble breathing through my nose. At certain times more than others. I visited an ENT last year and he said that the problem is partly attributed to a
    1)slightly deviated septum
    but more so to;
    2)swollen airways
    He didn’t mention anything of nasal polyps, but he prescribed me anti allergen pills and steroidal spray. The latter helped alleviate the nasal congestion by about 60%, but I couldn’t use this medication for more than 3 months. I don’t think the anti-allergens helped much. We have a small dog, but when I am away from home for weeks at a time, I didn’t notice my nose feeling less congested. So I don’t think it’s an allergy issue.
    Anyways I will make another appointment with another ENT to get a second opinion.
    Other than that the blockages aren’t attributed to a build-up of some sort. I can blow my nose very hard, but barely anything comes out, yet it’s still congested. In the mornings, I do however get a slightly metallic taste in my mouth, which could indicate mucus.
    My nose frees up slightly when I am lying on my right side. It is not immediate, but after a few minutes, it does become easier to breathe. I can feel ‘opening’ sensations in my nose, and this can be accompanied by funny sounds, like a creaking door inside my nose. Once I turn on my left side however, I can only breathe about 10% through my nose.
    Does anyone have a similar issue that can give me advice please? I heard that this may not even be related to respiratory health, but rather things ranging from spinal issues, to autoimmune problems.
    thanks

      Hey ubershredder1989 going through the same thing. The sprays my ent gave me didn’t help at all. I went back for a follow up and my ent said he wanted to do latera which is nasal implants that dissolve within 6 months but is supposed to correct your nasal passages to be open. Scared to pull the trigger on it because it could cause empty nose syndrome

      @@warrenwkeener thanks for the reply !
      I haven't solved the problem, but it has gotten a little better. I haven't been to see any doctors because of COVID inconvenience, but I have been rinsing with salt water more regularly. Previously I thought it was a trivial thing to do, but it seems to help, especially if done persistently.
      Facebook has some good support good support groups for this. You can ask questions, share experiences etc. Just type in "Chronic Sinusitis Sufferers" and there are a few other goods ones.
      I also have high blood pressure and slightly disturbed liver function. at this point I think all this including my nose are attributed to stress and autoimmune flare ups. Seems like lifestyle and dietary changes are the answer... MAYBE..

      @warrenwkeener 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ubershredder1989 do you happen to have acid reflux by any chance? I heard this could have a big factor into chronic sinusitis. I really wish I could just feel rested when I wake up from a night’s sleep this has been a miserable year and it came out of nowhere

    • @ubershredder1989
      @ubershredder1989 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@warrenwkeener sorry to hear about that. no i dont have acid reflux at all to be honest. Some days my nose is 90% stuffed at night. I have to breathe through my mouth, which dries up very quickly. I then drink lots of water , and hence many toilet trips at night, poor sleep.
      After several days salt rinsing, lately my left nostril is about 70% functional and right one 60%. I can therefore manage a reasonable nights sleep, provided i sleep only on my right side with certain pillow elevation. the downside is that is that its not too comfortable having to sleep on one side all the time. But at least i dont have to breathe through my mouth.

    I have this and my nose will run with clear discharge for 24-48 hours when it flares up. Happens 2-3 times per week. Almost ready to hang myself.

    • @anothergol

      Me too. On average, 1 day out of 3, and it lasts 1 day. It has been going on for the last 7 years, with a few pauses of up to a month, and once 8 months, for no apparent reason.
      Seems to be triggered by heat in my case.
      Tried pretty much everything, the only thing that has a little (tiny) effect is capsaicin-based sprays (Sinus Buster/Plumber/Capsinol). But it only delays the inevitable by a few hours.

    My sinuses are almost always swollen and I feel stuffed up way more than I want to be. I can't smell much of anything. I have post nasal drip constantly. I even feel like it's pooling up in my throat and making me feel asthmatic at times. I was just diagnosed with non-allergic rhinitus last summer. Nothing seems to help get rid of it and I've tried just about everything.

    Mine was probably triggered by the latest cold snap. I've had it now for 48 hours and still am not sure if it is just common cold symptoms. Nevertheless, the rhinitis part was driving me insane. Every 20 seconds or so, my left sinus would itch unbelievably making me sneeze a dozen times. The inevitable gush of tears and endless runny nose had me pulling my hair out.
    THE CURE!!! It's similar to a hot tottie:
    1)1 tsp salt
    2)1 tsp pepper
    3) 2 tsp honey
    4) 2 tsp lemon
    5) mix well with 7 ounces water
    6) Microwave till piping hot
    Drink it all up. Tastes a bit nasty, but I'm in heaven. Instant relief
