mine to, and didn't when installing, the screw that adapts to the main screw, keeps on getting loose, you turn and turn and just doesn't work. i ended up buying this simple set, only 23 dollars, and was SIMPLE AND FAST !!
This morning praying to God I watched your video and suddenly I was a lot happier when the pulley came off the shaft. Please pray and stay alive and thanks.
Your the best Sir. Thank you. Now I feel confident enough to do this. Your videos have always helped me most. Thank you for all that you Do. Keep Rocken those 3rd gens.
I took my psp to the shop but those idiots didn't tighten the pulley all that well and now it has play. So now I have to do it myself. You know the saying " if you want something done right, do it yourself" thanks.
Extremely helpful. I was fighting for 20 minutes trying to press it on with just one wrench LOL. Then I didn't lube the shaft so I just threw a little vaseline under the pulley on the shaft and 30 minutes and 100 quarter turns later it was flush.
i was told not to add anything to the shaft for lubing to help install that it was to be a compressed pully but having problem getting my pully to go on as smooth as you did will the spray dry up after installed
The one side of the lip ripped off while trying to wrench it by hand. Any ideas how to get it off with not enough to bite onto. My pulley snapped off origjnally so I just have the inner core to work with
Thanks your video helped a bunch. And your pump looked exactly like the one I changed on a 97 Chevy Lumina. Just changed the hub at O reily. In the parking lot. Never needed to rent the puller. Or pay a core charge. Total time 20 min. Used 3-1 oil for my butter
I'll be removing and reinstalling my LS pulley onto a new pump tomorrow using that exact Autozone kit. How do I know when the pulley is pressed on far enough? Should I just line it up by eye with the belt mark on the water pump bell pulley?
Okay so I have a 79 Z-28 Camaro and the power steering is not making any noises. Pulleys turning fine. Fluid full and no other symptoms except the power steering does not work. Would you suggest flushing the system before changing the pump? Or would a clog make the pump have a noise? Re-manufactured pump. If I have to get the pulley on the new pump, how am I to be sure it will line up with the pulley on the engine when I press it on? Only the dirt mark from the old pump?
So just wondering if I'm replacing both the pump, pulley, and hoses... Could I just remove the pump and pulley from the car to get better access to take the hoses off? 🤷🏼♀️ Just a thought. 😁 But great video! Thank you!
I have a 96 gmc k2500.6.5 diesel..do you know if this tool will do the job ? I try on other from advance auto parts. But I couldn't get out. Any suggestions will be appreciated
There's other's videos on TH-cam about doing this but yours is the best by far, thanks man. Great explanation and detail. In your experience is a little bit of back and forth play on the pulley shaft normal? I'd say I can move the pulley front to back on the shaft about an eighth of an inch (not left and right though, so it's not wobbly). Seems like from what I've read online that's normal but just wondering what your experience on this.
I must have a weird puller/installer set because although it allowed me to remove the pulley, it won't reinstall it. My set has a separate double ended screw that is screwed into the pulley shaft, then into the installer, but since that allows the pulley to turn, it fails every time, it just unscrews the installer.
Klowny1969, just replaced PS pump in a 99 E450 superduty. Bought a pump with a pulley already pressed on but the serpentine belt jumps over about two grooves when its cranked up. Reset the belt and it happens again. Doesnt look like the pulley on the new pump is lining up with the others. Can I use this method to crank the pulley out a bit to match up to the other pulleys?
@klowny1969 The Coolant is Below the Cold Level the only time it will rise is to half but are you saying i may have a bad head gasket if its leaking into the combustion chamber?
Dude my extractor wouldnt go in so I thought the wrong screw was in it and now the ball bearings are out and won't all go back in this is probably the most frustrating tool I've used ever
Powersteering pump keeps throwing my serpintine belt because the pulley is fucked, I can't believe the pulley is made of plastic lol ordered a metal one to fit however
When I try to tighten the bolts the part that screws into the pump comes loose. I have tried everything I can think of to stop it from coming loose. I've been trying for 3 days. Any ideas?
Well, I'm looking at the same thing and that middle nut that the puller goes into is an Allen nut, what would it grab onto? I will attempt the same thing.
U save me a $180 in Labor, No Cap. I tend to overthink at times, but your video helped me cut to the chase and get er done.

I love the way your set is already put together when you open the box. Mines came with 20 different pieces.
Sorry about that lol

that power steering pump pulley puller is SEXY AF!! I spent all night obsessing about it and just ordered one from autozone! Thank you for the video.

How do in know if my power steering pump is bad,or is the power steering pulley the one who needs to be changed???

Is the screw on the puller supposed to screw into the hole or just kinda sit on top of it?
Just one question - can I do this with this tool without getting power steering pump out of vehicle?
Thankyou! Very helpful and informative 👍

so the removal bolt isnt supposed to go inside the hole???
Mine started going on crooked. Will it straighten itself or do I pull it off and start again?
Take it off and try again..if it does it again..it might straighten out on its own
I'll be removing and reinstalling my LS pulley onto a new pump tomorrow using that exact Autozone kit. How do I know when the pulley is pressed on far enough? Should I just line it up by eye with the belt mark on the water pump bell pulley?

Like butta baby. Lol. This vid is equally informative as it is entertaining. Thanks.
Cool! How do you know when the pulley is perfectly lined up in terms of not being to far in or too far away from the pump?
Have you removed and installed without a impact tool? Your expericence?
yes many times
I tried that on a cougar pulley wouldn't work because the hole in the shaft was to small, kept going sideways, guess i get a 3 arm puller
Thank you very much. TH-cam university. You helped me out alot brother

@@klowny1969 thanks man, I actually did after i sent this message & it worked.
Do you need to change the Steering pump too? Because mine doesn't leak no problems just polley borke.
If its good..no need to change
@@klowny1969 hi, why did you change the pulley? Was it wobbling or losing from the pump bearing?
Because I changed the steering pump..new pump doesnt have a pulley
@@klowny1969 does the pulley installed firmly onto the ps pump or it can be sliding in and out a little, says about 1/10 of an inch?
It shouldnt be sliding on the shaft..it should be a pressed fit on the shaft..
