Cereal shouldn’t go stale after 2 wks of being open. It’s probably how it’s being stored. I use a chip clip on the cereal bag insert and it keeps it fresh for awhile.
Right? She could easily buy reusable containers. Keeps the cereal fresher longer.

As someone who struggles to be able to buy food lately I envy your shopping trips. Would love to be able to buy like that.
They foster a lot of kiids and receive monthly stipends for each of the fostered children....that money is obviously to be used to feed and clothe each of those children, of which they do.

@@christinel5486 all the kids are adopted or under their guardianship (but its not necessarily a foster), ie its like they gave birth to them (4 are their bio). They are not receiving a monthly stipend as adopted children unless they fall under the status of hard to adopt, or have medical special needs per the state of New York. She also does make a pretty decent amount across all the social media platforms, she might be getting a stipend for one for sure but it's not all the kids.

It is sooo easy to make brigadeiro at home! Here's the recipe:
You'll need:
2 cans of condensed milk
1 tbsp of butter
3 tbsp of powdered chocolate
Mix everything on a pot until it gets creamy and it no longer is attached to the bottom of the pot. Once it's already cold (put it in the fridge for at least an hour), just ball them and get chocolate sprinkles all over them. I think you might need to double the recipe though, since you have a big family. If you want any other tips on how to make brigadeiro, you can search brazilian TH-camrs and use the instant translation tool here on TH-cam. Hope you see this comment and hope it helps. And sorry everyone for any mistakes, english is not my mother language and I'm still learning, so go easy on me, I'm trying my best 😊

@@jordonthomas4129 thank you! We don't get paid enough to even put enough groceries in our house. It's terrible. I work summer camp just to make extra money to pay bills, food etc. Finically, it's a hard job, but it's so worth it. It makes my heart smile by seeing the joy I'm able to bring to the children in my classroom. Now I'm crying haha!

To stop your cereals doing that get large containers and empty them in put a label on so you know which cereal it is that way you will know what to buy when you need to i do that its so much easier and there is less waste

You picked up green onions instead of chives. Chives are much thinner. They might be in a little clam shell in the produce section.

Do you ever do like a pantry challenge? It seems like that would be interesting to watch from such a large family, and it's a great way to avoid food waste.
I know people jump on you for buying so much stuff-but it would, in my opinion, make sense to stock up on the staples-beans, rice, sauces, protein bars, pasta, that kind of thing-so yo always have a stockpile on hand!
I recently heard of mixing some popcorn with your little portions of leftover cereal and making it into a snack mix to get eaten up 😊

Why do you buy the small bottle of ketchup if you go through so much of it? We go through a lot of ketchup too, but we always buy the biggest size available or buy it in bulk at Costco.

Why don’t you get plastic containers for the cereal
Love your videos! I used to work as a personal shopper & we had to put raw meat in bags. It’s basically so there’s no mess for the holding area or no mess in the customers car & no contamination to any other products. Also when it came to plastic containers like the clam shell containers for produce & egg cartons we would (after checking them ) put a rubber band around it so they won’t open during transit

She explained a while ago that they had a very bad experience when the pandemic hit; the children that they adopted from foster care (namely Bree and Patrick who were older when they came to live) got terrified of running out of food when the stores started being closed for hours a day and had limited food supplies. They were used to not having enough to eat. She and Josh decided that they would never let that happen so they started stocking up. Besides, they aren’t the only people with large families who keep a stockpile of groceries and other necessities. Try looking this up and you’ll see what I mean. Be kind and not judgmental.

No one , not even large families need 1000’s of $$$$ worth of boxed and prepared ( premade ) food. It’s cheaper to make things from scratch. IMO, she could spend way less by making things from scratch, but maybe it is easier to just open a package and add water. IDK, I am a scratch cooker and baker.

Have you considered buying cereal keepers? Tupperware has a great one. There are many other brands as well.
We had those growing up! My mom gave me one of her old ones to keep my cat’s food in because the cat likes chewing the bag for some reason😅

At my Walmart I could not find the Rice Roni. We looked up and down the aisles. Finally, we checked the bread aisle. It was way down on the end with Suddenly Salad. My favorite is the herb one. I also like Suddenly Salad.

Alicia, I'm late to the party here but in future if you look in the craft section they usually have a great selection of colored t-shirts.
I have never seen you make casseroles like chicken apricot or a roast lamb or beef with roasted vegetables. Love watching you shop and seeing different things that are for sale and some things we get here as well. New Zealand
Probably because chicken apricot is not common here nor is lamb. I have had lamb with I enjoy. USA mostly does carb based casseroles
