- Lesson 02 Story / narration practice. (Audience level: Beginner)
ASLU: ASL University Level 1, Lesson 2. Dr. Bill Vicars reviewing a basic introduction with Estefanny who is a beginning level student.
This video is intended for beginners who barely know the fingerspelled alphabet. The goal here is to get the student signing a short narrative (in this case, a sample introduction).

:
Hello ASL Heroes!!!
Hey, I could really use your help.
If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you.
A donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com.
Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!”

Thank you so much for these videos, Dr. Bill. I'm learning so much!
Hello! My name is Andrea, I'm a sign language interpreter from Brazil (LIBRAS) I moved to the United States, to learn English and American Sign Language (ASL), I'm your fan and I would like to be able to go to your program one day to learn the signs. Today I live in Orlando FL, thank you!
Hello Andrea!
Welcome to the U.S.!
I encourage you to google "Deaf events near me" and "ASL socials near me" -- and start attending. Plus check to see if there is a chapter of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf in your area and start going to their meetings.

Hi Mr. Vicars.
I love this series and I'm fortunate to have discovered it. (:
I'm hard of hearing but was cut off from my deaf friends after my parents and I moved to another place.
I'll comment again later to show you how far I've gotten once I get there!
Hello Nox!
Keep up the good work! You can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

How is the progress?
Thank you very much.
Yow. My hands started cramping on this one. Got a long way to go i guess
My poor brain just can't seem to wrap around a stream of sign language. Or does it just take time to learn to comprehend it when all put together into a narrative?
First watch the "instructional video" THEN watch the narrative video.
Here's the latest instructional video for ASL 1: Lesson 2: th-cam.com/video/U0qG639Vx-0/w-d-xo.html
ALL LANGUAGES from around the globe takes time to learn permanently or temporarily; in both hearing or deaf cultures alike 😀😀😀😀
It'll take time, but you can do it. It helps to think of memory aids to remember the signs, and it might be easier for you because it's a visual language. I'm not sure if you're a visual learner or not, but this is what works for me. Hope this will help!
