I was fortunate enough to paddle in the Windrush at Bourton On The Water in 1997. It was so beautiful and clear. We need to work hard to preserve our rivers.
Such a sad sight too see, had caught many chub and my first Barbel from the Windrush during the mid 90's plenty of Roach and Dace in Witney where Waitrose is on Station Lane back then it was a beautiful small river full off life and fish including wild Brown Trout havent seen it for over 20y now❤
How sad. I used to fish the Windrush at Crawley back in the late 70s and early 80s. Upstream from the bridge round towards the mill pool, and downstream for a mile or 2. Always caught loads of fish. Big perch, chub, pike, chub, gudgeon. Sad to see it like that now.
Amongst many fish I caught 2 eels in the Windrush between Crawley and the ruins at minster one was at least 3lbs and the other one about half that size. Such a shame to see the river in this sorry state 😢. Let's hope and pray that it can be restored. The year I caught the eels would have been August 1997

i look at that bit of river all the time and sadly wasnt alive in 98 to see that i started fishing newlands ac in about 09/10 really really sad
