If you want to save a little space on your searches, get a 5-gallon bucket and pour in about 2 or 3 inches of cement or sand in a bag. The weight will keep it upright in the water. You can toss all the junk in there. I just tie a short length of rope to it then hook it to my belt look. I have several carabiners I keep on my chest strap to hook rings into. I have a plastic quart jar which I cut a large coin-sized hole in the top. It is clipped to my belt so I can toss coins in or small earrings. It really irks me to find sharp glass and metal in the water.

As far as shark stories go...I got a few One i'll tell here was from a guy that was hitting used to live on gulf coast in area you hunt he was hitting about chest deep and all of a sudden people were running down the beach yelling at him - he didnt know what they wanted ...as soon as he took his headphones off and yelled "What do you want1" - There was a big swoosh and something ripped his long handled scoop out of his hand. He then became the second man to walk on water. He made it to shore - never saw that scoop again. Life guard said by distance of fin to tail what he could see it was a big one. After that he gave up water hunting and moved from Fla. to Ct.

My brother and I took our wagon and a sifter early in the morning at the beach. we found rings and once a wallet We turned every thing over to the life guards. it was so much fun. thanks for sharing with us.
Regarding shark attacks, there were 39 of them so far in 2024. Several ended with the victims passing away. You just need to be mindful and aware of your surroundings. There was a tourist who came to FMBCH two years ago, before Ian and he just got his feet wet. They got back to their hotel, and his left leg started to burn. He was rushed to the ER @ Healthpark. They found that he contracted flesh eating bacteria. His leg, up to his knee had to be removed. Maybe before you get into the water each time, do a simple water test. There are hand held units and will tell you if the water is safe. If the test shows too much bacteria, maybe skip that afternoon of detecting. Just a thought...I would hate to hear that your arms and legs had to be removed due to bacteria!!!
