was that six year old gasoline sitting in the tank all that time? Was that battery still in the bike from six years ago just sitting occasionally charging it?
I have had dozens and dozens of bikes since 1968. My favorite engine is the Honda CX 500 engine. I had a CX 500 that I put CB 400 F bars on, koni shocks, small windscreen..
My favorite bike to ride at the same time. I had an RZ 350 a guzzi SP1000 and the CX500… very pleasant motor. That motor was actually designed from the start to be turbo charged by Honda. That’s why it does not have removable cylinders…
I suppose you will be changing all the fluids, I mean everything from brake fluid, coolant, final, drive gear, lube, even the tires on all your machines..
Maintenance is expensive. But that which ought to be done.and isn’t, is more expensive.. that’s mostly what my TH-cam channel is about. All those neglected things that need to be looked after…

Gday Kev, absolutely beautiful collection of motorbikes, years ago I had a Kawasaki Z750 twin, it was lates 70’s model, fantastic touring bike but sadly sold it to help with the deposit of my first house, kicked myself ever since, I’ve only ever seen 2 others in magazines for sale, the file cap might be just a bit dry and sticky, thanks for sharing your collection mate, makes me want to buy another one, cheers

They are great bikes Kev, lovely example. The petrol cap lock might just want a squirt of lubricant, my Yamaha Diversion used to do similar.
    Best wishes, Dean.

Thanks for another great video Kev. Deauville is a very nice bike and in common with your other 3 a thinking man's machine, reliable, well engineered, made to be riden rather than cleaned and it's not going to kill you.
I've got to wondering what all this motorcycle preparation is about, maybe another Continental road trip?
Whatever it is, have a good time.
    Best wishes, Stephen.

    Hi kev
Just bought a 2002 model , collect tomorrow, never had a shaft drive so looking forward to trying it out, your video has encouraged me though, would you say these are top heavy or not, just felt like it could be
    Thanks
    Mel

    • @MrFactotum
      @MrFactotum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mel
Ive toured and riden over 30,000 mile on mine, i find it a great alrounder, never had a problem with it feeling top heavy, the only caviate on that is if you have a back box on fully laden then you get a little light on steering etc. I usually even it out by putting a tank bag on when touring. The gears are a bit clunky sometimes but thats normal. Also some tyres can alter the handling, making things feel vague with limited feedback, i settled on Michelin after some trial and error, but it's just a personal preferance, like anything one person is suited to one thing and another is suited to something different.
      Enjoy and stay safe
      regards
      Kev
