WUWT Paranormal-09: UFOs-06-Close Encounters, 12/19/2019

Some specific examples of UFO Case-Histories are examined and some categories of corroborating evidence are described in reference to these particular examples. These UFO accounts are older, but more modern accounts also have these same features and by understanding the history of the UFO phenomenon we can better place it in our modern thinking better understanding the modern culture that has grown up alongside the UFO-experience. We can understand both the culture of those who have had these undeniable experiences and those who categorically deny these experiences. In the first part on 12/19/2019 we look at a few encounters in the USA.
Any single UFO account can always be apparently dismissed by skeptics who will insist on impossible standards, standards that we would not expect even in a courtroom. Such skeptics demand laboratory circumstances which cannot be imposed on phenomenon which are outside of human control and UFOs are far from the only such phenomenon outside of human control. Scientists certainly study many types of phenomenon which cannot be rigorously controlled without making such unrealistic demands as long as the subject matter does not pertain to the paranormal. However when taken together, many such UFO accounts make it hard to deny many mutually-unknown-witnesses making similar statements. Sometimes there are traces of physical debris or after-effects left behind as well. Just as there are “true-believers” there are also “true-disbelievers.”
