Hi mate, I have a 2nd gen and I had loose chain to the point I can hear it tick tick especially in first gear! Today I adjusted and as soon as test rode it and put it to gear 1 it went loose again! Any ideas ? Thanks heaps 🙏

Seems odd to me. Are you sure that you tightened down your adjusting nuts along with the locknuts for the chain tensioner?
Other thing to check would be proper torque for the axle nut. If that’s loose it may allow the chain to move.
The only other thing is, you could be maxed out on your chain tensioner adjusters which means that your chain is worn out and needs replacement.
If none of those are the problem, then you are either performing the adjusting procedure incorrectly or your chain and sprockets need replacing.

@@FullThrottleFreedomChannel thanks mate, yes a family friend who is an older motorcyclist helped me with it and all was done properly! I think I just have to get the new chain and sprocket set! Cause it’s pretty straight forward to adjust chain! And this is a 4th hand bike so no idea about the previous owner you know lol

One step missed... alignment. Perfect rear wheel alignment allows the chain, sprocket, and tires to last longer. Those lines do not always line-up.

Definitely agree Joshua, and I even had it in my mind when I was planning the video but forgot to mention it. That being said, most people I’ve met who set their own slack don’t bother being overly meticulous with alignment.
I should make a separate video just for checking and setting rear wheel alignment.

I have a 2004 with extensions. Do these specs still apply

I’ve never dealt with extensions, but the chain slack should be the same regardless of the length of the swingarm. A quick Google search confirmed my logic.
Do you have to switch to a longer chain when you install extensions?

You should always adjust with wheel on the ground.
