      Dude. I just purchased an HP Omen 30L RTX3080. My first gaming PC since 1997. Your videos are amazing. I'm trying to learn how to torque my GPU & CPU to squeeze as much life out of RDR2 as possible but I'm brand new at this stuff, is there ANYWAY you could upload a video on overclocking the HP Omen CPU?? Thanks for the consideration!

    I've got a chance to try all sorts of things: replace all the possible thermal pads inside this case, undervolt CPU and GPU following your tutorial, change the cases, replace the fan, replace the CPU cooler, try horizontal vs vertical HP Omen RTX 3090. And the undervolting works best! Well modding the card physically just changes the total amount of heat transfer at steady, so if you use the best thermal pad and thermal paste, you might increase the heat transfer directly from the GPU chip to the ambient air by a few degrees, not much. If you want to achieve higher heat transfer, you will need different materials rather than playing around with the pads. I recommend undervolting if it suits your using purpose. I do a lot of 3D simulation which utilized the whole card, from VRAM to memory clock to chip clock, so it is no point for me to undervolting and downgrade the performance. But for some activities that utilized a portion of this powerful card, like mining uses extensive VRAM, or rendering use a lot of chip clock, undervolting is how you keep the card for longer. And also, as the GPU card is horizontal, the heat will rise up very fast, so having a top-back exhaust fan will lower the total case temp by a few degrees. Moreover, this HP Omen RTX 3090 card also blows hot air horizontally to the side panel of the case, which causes a bit of turbulence and retains more heat inside the case, that is also why you need the top exhaust fan to create the pressure drop to immediately draw that hot air out. And also if you can find a tall external heat sink, you can stick it on top of the card, where the VRAM and other hot components are, so the rear exhaust fan will also draw hot air from the sink, that is the best set up in my opinion. My setup is the Noctua U12A on the CPU and 5 Noctua case fans for the GPU, CPU and GPU idle temp are 28C and 73C under very heavy load with VRAM temp at 92 when mining. Good luck with your channel! Quality, useful and practical content!!!

      Thank you very much! Do you have a good suggestion for a good vertical mount that fits well in this case? I would be interested in trying that out.

      @@jdwtv6530 not that I know of, I am using a different case now. I have also tried several vertical GPU, but the thing is the RTX 3090 also has VRAM at the back, and the most practical vertical mount I know of, like Universal Vertical GPU Holder Kit ver.2 | Cooler Master, does not have a lot of space for air flow at the back of the card. This vertical mount is best suited as it does not let the GPU be very near to the side panel like other extensions vertical GPU mount. I end up keeping horizontally now, but you can try that out to see if it works.

      @@doriflow_engine Iv got a lian li lancool mesh case I am about to swap into to. I will just wait until I do the swap and buy there specific vertical mount and see how it goes. It is very frustrating to have to do all of this for a prebuilt computer but gotta do what we gotta do in these hard times. I miss the days of walking into a store and being able to buy a graphics card.

      @@jdwtv6530 yea true, but luckily HP decided to price their pre-built at a reasonable price, so we can invest a little more to get the specs at a lower price than other premium pre-built at a much higher price. And it is ashamed to actually buy a pre-built to own a gpu solely, but i guess we have to now!

    my 3090 never broke 79' in the 30l. I have since put it in a lian li 11dynamic...added a 360 aio, another 32gbs of ram. now cpu stays at 40-50' gpu still in the 70s during hard gaming. with the hp version of the 3090 I have yet to see a cooler im confident will be worth the money

    Hi, thx for the video! I have an Omen 30l with i9 11900k, ram 32g 3200 MT/s and RTX 3080. The temps for both cpu and gpu are very high so I was looking for undervolting cause i'm not very confident for a different approach. To give u an idea I had CPU running at 76 to 85°C and GPU at 72 to 83°C playing Mfs2020 just at 1080p (ultra preset). I already undervolt the cpu thanks to ur other video and temps have dropped! Hopefully the system seems stable and the benchmark rating on OmenGamingHub has raised from 2937 to 3025. Now wanna do the same for the GPU. What kind of frequency do you think is gonna be the best/safe ?? Thank u so much ! !

    Just remove the 2 staggered grills on top of each other and the giant "cross" air blocking bracket(cut the cross part out) on the output of the radiator and you will have proper free flow air through it and cool temps. My I9 10900k is a witness to that. Fantastic computer but they really screwed up on proper water cool radiator ventilation practices. Remember an all in one Lenovo years ago my wife bought. It was such a nice computer with huge display. But they used "speaker grill screen" for the ventilation on top. By the time a year or two later realized something was a miss. The heat has damage everything from the drive to the chips. Just amazing to me engineers do not know the basics of thermal coefficient formulas with respect to what they are cooling.

    👍Thanks for your information.
    CPU temperature is problem. Did you change your AIO fan? One 120mm aio fan can't support i9-10850K temperature. XTU undervolting can't support good enough temperature too.
    Without change new pc case with two fan aio, I can't overlook my cpu.
    It makes me sad😭

    Will this work with the 2060 graphics card option ?

    • @jdwtv6530
      @jdwtv6530  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes absolutely. This will work with any nvidia graphics card. At the bare minimum I would suggest msi after burner so you can control fanspeed on your GPU. Turning the fan speed up alone to keep temps down in the high 60s- low 70s will give you an increase in performance. Nvidia cards factory fan speed curves allow the cards to reach temps of high 80s which is technically fine but lowers max boost output.
      But yes absolutely it will!!

    How to lower memory voltage?

    • @jdwtv6530
      @jdwtv6530  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      to be honest I'm not sure if you can technically undervolt memory on an invidia card. i know you can underclock it or overclock the memory but not sure of a way to adjust voltage for memory. amd cards have software I believe you can use to adjust memory voltage but I am not familiar with how to use that specific software. I have only had nvidia cards in my builds. I'm sorry I couldn't give a better answer for you.
