How is the reverse set up? I looked at the specs for the avian speed controller, it says no reverse...what the deal, Yo?🤔🤔🤔 I really want that feature for my float planes!!!!😍😍😍🤘🏻
@@sacrificialrubber779 The reversing functionality is uniquely programmed in the Avian 60A ESCs installed in the Ultimate 3D and Night Timber X. However, it will be possible to update other Avian ESCs to having reversing in the future!
HorizonHobbyProducts how soon?? That’s the only thing I am waiting on before I start switching out all of my speed controllers!(12+ airplanes and 5 yet to be built😂🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️)
You are so good at being so relaxed, flying well, and doing this all in one shot like it's nothing, you've gotten pretty good at these! This might be my next plane, I'm impressed with all the new smart features.
Love the paint scheme and graphics!! Reverse is great!! Not to shabby on those sticks!!! The Ultimate 2 has been my phone's screen saver for a long time.
So this plane can send back to your radio voltage information. I am a newbie, but from what I can gather being able to monitor your battery might save you lots of money in repairs/replacements.
Exactly! "Spektrum™ Smart technology is about offering a higher connection to your hobby. It's a connection that puts you in complete control, makes you more aware and more confident about the capability of your equipment-all while making vital components of your model easier to use than ever. The combined result is a sense that will make you wish everything about your hobby was smarter."
Gypsy Salami, Darrin Burt is correct. Mike already has a new Wilga 2000 in his hangar, and he will begin the modifications shortly after Scrappy is finished. He’s picked the moniker off “Draco X” for the new Wilga.
Does this have the same safe select feature as the 300, Maule, T-28 or is the panic recovery version that is on the Sukhoi? I have yet to fly the Sukhoi as I am not quite ready for a 3d plane without stability in landing.
Hi Jason. Nice flyng! 2 questions please... 1. Is there an Ultimate 3D 950mm for RealFlight 9? 2. I missed out on getting a Night VisoinAire - will there be something similar anytime soon or what do you recommend as an alternative?
Hello Joe! We don't currently offer an "official" Ultimate 3D 950mm model for RealFlight, but if there are enough requests we can possibly add it in the future! In the meantime maybe someone else will make one and offer it for download via the swap pages: www.knifeedge.com/forums/index.php?resources/ Also, the Night VisionAire is now discontinued (most spare parts will still be available for a few years), but you may be able to find one in stock at a hobby shop or online retailer since they just sold out in our warehouse recently. And although it's not exactly the same style, we view the Night Timber X 1.2m as its replacement: www.horizonhobby.com/SearchDisplay?searchTerm=efl_Night+timber&categoryId=&sourceDomain=&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&pageSize=40&beginIndex=0&sType=SimpleSearch&resultCatEntryType=2&searchTermScope=2&showResultsPage=true&searchSource=Q&sourceDomain=&pageView=
Love it, I still have an Ultimate 2. I made new gear for it cause the original was kinda soft and started bending with every landing, but other than that I love it
‘Simple’ question. Ha. Balancing with the CG points. Should the bottom of the fuselage be horizontal at the neural point ??? Or it the neural point as if all wheels would be touching the table at the same time, it not raised. I have my 4s all the way forward (with metal tail rod).
Hi Dear Sir .This is an excellent video, thank you for it, please which plane is better on the pattern flying style ... ultimate or Extra ...? extra is bigger and must have bigger batteries ... thank you for the answer ... Jan.
For precision aerobatic/"pattern" style flying, the Extra 300 is a bit better suited. The Ultimate can also do that well, but is a bit better for 3D flying than the Extra 300.
If you have a Spektrum DX Gen 2/3, NX or iX series transmitter you can set up voice alerts to call out the telemetry data at certain time intervals (e.g every 30 seconds), when certain values are reached (e.g. low battery voltage, high ESC temp, etc.), and in other instances. Or, in most cases, just a quick glance at the screen will allow you to see the information you're most interested in (and some screens show the data in different ways so it's quicker/easier to see when flying).
Similar to the full-scale Pitts versus Ultimate, the shorter tail moment of the Pitts makes it possible to perform more aggressive snaps and spins. The longer tail moment of the Ultimate works a bit better for precision aerobatics and hovering (though it does also snap and spin well...just not quite as fast/aggressively as the Pitts can).
Not with the stock ESC, but down the road you will be able to install a Spektrum Avian Smart ESC (www.horizonhobby.com/SearchDisplay?searchTerm=SPMX_ESC_AIR&categoryId=&sourceDomain=&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&pageSize=40&beginIndex=0&sType=SimpleSearch&resultCatEntryType=2&searchTermScope=2&showResultsPage=true&searchSource=Q&sourceDomain=&pageView= ) to reverse the motor/fan. We have already been testing motor/fan reversing on EDF models like the Havoc with very good results so far when utilizing it to slow the airplane down after landing (which makes the roll out much shorter...almost like brakes!)
It will depend on the weight/performance of your packs and throttle management of course, but with the Spektrum 4S 2200mAh 30C Smart batteries (www.horizonhobby.com/2200mah-4s-148v-smart-lipo-30c--ic3-spmx22004s30 ), 6+ minutes would probably be likely for most. Jason still had almost 30% capacity left when using that battery after about 5 minutes of mixed flying, including some 3D and motor reversing in flight (which pulls quite a bit of current at full throttle), during the flight in this video.
This is 3 years ago but I'd love to get you flying! I'm in Pacific Northwest... Now we buddy box 2 transmitters together wirelessly! You'll be flying and solo the first day I'd bet with your RC experience!

Being Jason Merkle has to be awesome. Unbelievable piloting skills. Great plane and video. Thank you Sir.
The smart update is a wonderful idea and love that you can run both 3 and 4s without major upgrades needed! Great work in the video too Jason!

Great Jason and HH bought the OG Ultimate and a had a blast flying it, traded away. Love the color scheme, home run, Jeff in LA USA
She is on the way 😍 can’t wait for this one to get here!!!
As always, well presented Jason. Great job. Keep safe & well mate.
Good presentation Jason! If I was into 3D, I would be clicking that button right now.
GB you may have a chance to get a video of this because I really like it and want one. I think more than the A10
Really enjoy your product videos Jason and this one is no different. Great overview and flight demo. It’s going to be hard to pass this one up
Great Video Jason. Thanks for putting out these informative videos. Looks like another Plane to buy!
Great looking airplane, I like the idea that it can fly sport or 3D you're choice, 3s or 4s you're choice !
Awe man that's an awesome plane..Jason your a fantastic pilot, the reverse thrust is awesome!!!I want I want, I need I need - Bob Wiley

I feel like the reversing ESC is a test for an upcoming E-Flite/Mike Patey Draco.
interesting...
Yep, has to be the reason

The Commander has the checkerboard on the bottom. When I fly inverted I call it going out for Italian.
Wow, looks great. Thank you.
Dude I swear when he started BACKING OUT I was like 🤯
Awesome plane. Thank you for the video. U don’t need a spotter when flying with other planes in the air ?
Great Video. Very well done. Thanks.
Great job Jason, I like it 👍♥️
Does this have the same safe select feature as the 300, Maule, T-28 or is the panic recovery version that is on the Sukhoi? I have yet to fly the Sukhoi as I am not quite ready for a 3d plane without stability in landing.
The BNF Basic version of the Ultimate 3D has the same type of optional-use SAFE Select as the Extra 300 3D 1.3m, Maule 1.5m, etc.
Do you guys ever make a bad product? Also, I just realized this the Real Flight field!!! Cool :)
Hi, i need the AS3X settings i have lost the Gyro gain datas. Can you say ne please

@@HorizonHobbyProducts Thank you for the quick reply
Needs to be larger, like a 55" or 60" span, then I'd buy one!
I totally agree with you! And then also made with balsa and ply
Does this receiver function the same as the ar637t? Can I add flight modes or adjust the as3x?
Love it, I still have an Ultimate 2. I made new gear for it cause the original was kinda soft and started bending with every landing, but other than that I love it
Ohmg looks soooooooo amazing!!!!!!!!!
Just got mine so I have both versions:) ha Ultimate fan! Love this plane.
Will this new telemetry work on the older (silver) DX8?
love this plane but the spare pins keep coming lose in flight causing one wing to flutter

good job enjoy your viedo
But how do you have time to see all that telemetry while flying?
If you have a Spektrum DX Gen 2/3, NX or iX series transmitter you can set up voice alerts to call out the telemetry data at certain time intervals (e.g every 30 seconds), when certain values are reached (e.g. low battery voltage, high ESC temp, etc.), and in other instances. I took the weights out in the nose have you done it on yours ?
Jason flew the model in box stock form in this video :)

636T or 637T receiver?
The BNF Basic version of the E-flite Ultimate 3D 950mm includes a Spektrum AR637TA receiver :)
The control this guy has on his plane is staggering
Please develop a large scale carbon Z Bf-109 or FW-190, no Mustangs please, there are enough out there.
Does it really have enough power .😆👌😍
Please build us a 60/70cc Ultimate 3D biplane!!!!
