Yep, anything above 9.5gpi in 300 I don't even consider. .204 that's 8.5-9gpi in 300 spine would be great. Like Rampage but actually straight and durable.
30" draw? Your arrows should have plenty of zip. Unless you are shooting sub 60lb, not being able to shoot sub 450 grains is a bad thing why? You want velocity for more forgiveness at range, I get it. Personally I think any arrow going over 250 fps is plenty fast at extended ranges. In all your years of hunting with a bow, honestly how many shots have you taken past 60 yards? Z
204's are on the way... as far as heavy GPI, the 166 are one of the heaviest micro arrows on the market with the 250's being 11.8GPI plus they come standard with a 50gn insert/outsert system
Great vid, fellas.... These arrow are intriguing. I've shot the VAP SS .00001 straightness. Love them! They hit hard and fly true; never had an issue. These Altra arrows might be the next tinker play coming in FY24. See you on the next vid!
Great stuff! I am a fan of not having to worry about spine alignment but prefer lighter spine arrows for the purpose that I would use them. Also, when talking about being hard to find the spine, I thought, "I know people like that".
I bought two dozen .166 Premier's and the stock components are pretty decent. Are the brass inserts that you guys touched one for the .166 or .246? I see on the Altra website that those inserts are for the .246....only one option for the .166. I really like the arrows BUT I purposely nock tuned the first dozen bare shafts "just to see" and there was a difference through paper when rotating the nock every 45 degrees. I have only shot them once outside so far from 20-80 yards.
I’m an old Gold Tip man. I do love accuracy. Used to shoot state indoor 300’s for years as well as hunt. Don’t hunt anymore and am starting a new to me set up. Would love to shoot some Altras, but way out of my price range. Just like the UV Hinge 2. I wanted one of those but way out of my price range and you can’t talk to anyone at the company. I will not deal with someone who has no customer service other than an automated text that you get a response from it at 3am. Ridiculous. I shoot low poundage on my indoor bow so arrow choice is limited these days. Although back when I stopped shooting, I was shooting a 42lb pull indoor bow and shot 2512’s out of it and qualified first in the state that year. Today everyone telling my that fat arrows are too stiff for a target bow???? I think I proved otherwise back when I was competing. I just wished all this new good equipment didn’t cost so much. Looking forward to your next video. I ammo e who mentioned lesser priced stiff for those of us with little to no income but still need or want a New gadget here and there. But don’t want to be spending or can’t spend $300 for whatever it is. My GT ultralight Pros cost me $130 for a Dozen shafts.
I purposely shot the .166 aluminum inserts into a block of wood. Point went in all the way into wood. I was able to unscrew the insert and the shaft was still perfect. I then shot a tko into the same wood with the Goldtip trad insert stainless and it splintered the end of arrow. Also was -8 outside when testing! So far so good for me. 70# 29”draw lift arrow weight 460 with a speed of 284
Is this the same guy off the podcast that said he was doing the Leadville 100? Dudes a big beast he better get to pedaling in a hurry. Leadville is for real near the pinnacle of hard rides.
Heat gun, Dan. Lose that propane torch. It always freaked me out watching you using that thing. Harbor Freight, $30. It was a matter of time, but now you know.
Nice arrows, just too damned heavy unless I want to shoot a 550+ grain arrow with poor FOC with my 31 inch draw length. I'll keep an eye on Altra, if they come out with a shaft under 9 gpi (and preferably closer to 8.5 gpi) I would buy a dozen and try them out. But given the shaft weight and that their components are aluminum and brass--not interested.
Lets go ill pack my bags now and drive over. Its only 4 hrs away lol. No but for real good luck to everyone on getting picked who ever does is extremely blessed and lucky
Best thing about this channel is you don’t try to act more knowledgeable about things than you are. If anything you hold back some. Breath of fresh air. Every TH-cam gimmick acts like they know everything and 99.9 percent of what they say is just incorrect.
These are not an arrow for 3D, these are not an arrow for short draw guys, these are not an arrow for lower poundage guys. So I guess they made them just for Levi. Arrows in those spines weighing that much is pure stupidity. Sorry. Just the way I feel about it. Why would I go to an arrow that the same spine, same diameter and same components, and lose 20-25 fps? Makes no since. And these guys saying " I had the best groups I ever had", is BS as well. Even if you don't have to nock tune, ( which I highly doubt) , you can easily nock tune a different arrow and shoot the EXACT SAME GROUP SIZE. I'm all for new products, but I'm way past the bull$&@" and out right lies on some products. Guys that can build a good arrow and tune a bow, NEVER missed because of the arrow. They miss because of making a bad shot. Period. I don't care what kind of arrow it is, what kind of bow it is, if the shot breaks and the pin is in the 9 ring, guess what your score will be. Yes a 9.
dear altra if you guys read these comments. Set the trend, be the first... stop putting development time and money into aluminum components. Just sell us the shafts, no one into this enough to be sitting here watching elkshape wants aluminum anywhere near our arrows. If you don't have an all steel or titanium system that's fine, we throw whatever comes with away and purchase something that's built to take a hit.
You mentioned a giveaway at the end of the video and just was curious where to enter or what needs to be done to enter!!! May the Lord our God be the lamp to all our foot steps!! God Bless you Dan and all the ELKSHAPE families!
I just wish Alta had a lower gpi…I have a 30” draw and I cannot make an arrow sub-450 with a decent FOC at those grain weights…maybe the .204s…
Same boat here. 31" inch draw and not interested in shooting 500+ gr arrows

Victory RIP XV is what you’re looking for
@@HuckFTW Serius Gemini. They’re not quite as light as the xv you mentioned, but they’re more durable in my experience.

Very interested see how they hold up. Wish the had a .204 as well. And heavy GPI

@@danielkarcher7846I’ll be giving them a try for sure.

Love the Ballistic gel step stool.

Love the transparency, especially in the beginning of the video with the clear gel block 😂😂😂
😁
Great as always man.
lmao the editing is getting good!
Great video, thank you. I’m definitely interested in those arrows.
Awesome video!
Looking to grab a dozen of these to try indoor 5 spot!
Thank you for the video, I saw Altra Arrows on Instagram and was wondering about their brand. CBE video is gonna be interesting! Almost 100k lets go!
Love the videos and the information keep it up!
3 weeks ago I message Altra, they said a .204 would be out in the spring.
I believe the new SpotHogg sight the Boonie will be very similar exciting to tinker with, especially with the inter changeable sight tapes.

Would be great if you could get the Altra .204 shafts!! Anyone have any idea when they will be available?
Ah so very similar to my experience with day six arrows and having a hard time to find an actual stiff/weak side of the spine.
Getting ready for next season. Saving up for a decent bow!
Where are the separations in the preparation shirts already?
So I’m shooting GT XT 340’s at 28-1/8” from throat of nock to end of carbon. What should I order in Alta?
No 204 is what is keeping me from even TRYING these arrows. I shoot an Easton Axis normally.
Have the 204 now. Might have to try them now
Never heard of Altra arrows, thanks for the review
Good stuff man!
Need someone to tell me pros and cons of .204 and .246 please. What makes someone choose one over the other?
.204 vs .246....
Dan I've pulled my CBE TREK through its ass (and bush in South Africa) walk and stak every day and its bulletproof! Love the content man!
Love that feedback! More to come on that sight! -DS
what kind of boots you wearing??
Blake!!!!!!
Thanks
Doing Dan dirty with the ballistic gel. hahaha.
Haha - it's all good, we like to keep it real! -DS
That zero spine seems similar to Carbon Express’s 360 degree spine back in the day
Man I think I want to test out a dozen or two of these arrows!
Just bought some 204’s . Building them now and nock tuning arrow , i turned nock to 12-3-6-9…. And got 4 different tears …. What does this mean
I know I said to much f-ery when the dropped, but I’m starting to be intrigued. Might be worth a shot!
Nock tune 6 and just out of the box fletch 6 and see if there’s better groups????

My biggest question for the 166's is how durable are the stock components?
Only time will tell - Tyler seems to think they're pretty good! -DS

@@grndapache4200 thanks for the results
Rolled or drawn over mandrel?
Needs a lower gpi.... wont check em out until then. Ive got a 31" draw so they would be crazy heavy lol
Thank you Dan God's Blessings on all your adventures
What was the broadhead that came with gloves?
Bowmar beast

Clocking has nothing to do with spine, it’s string rotation
gpi is way to high for me
Yeah all the brands are covered, if the brands names is Mathews😂

There too heavy on gpi
This is comical😅 arrows aren’t effecting group size I don’t care who you are.
100k subs let’s get it!!!! @ElkShape
