As a dog dad who raised "only child's" for 25 years, I adopted a Border Collie who's owners died, to be a sibling for my German Shepherd. And I couldn't agree more, to borrow your words, "its the best thing I ever did." Especially when they play tug of war. 😅 So glad it worked out for you! Thank you for caring for these precious kiddos! Every dog deserves a home.
Western United States is beautiful but my favorite part of the US is Wisconsin and Minnesota stunning in all seasons especially winter. Lived in Both states for 76 years!
Finally, I found the one dog owner on TH-cam who doesn't think he's a veterinarian. It seems everyone an expert on why Rodney has night terrors or what food is best for outdoor dogs less then 3 yrs old and over 23.5lbs who spent half their lives east of the Mississippi. Come on TH-cam be like my man Seth and remember just because you bought a hammer it doesn't make you master carpenter Norm Abram.
Your boys are absolutely adorable. Rodney's little face is so precious he is truly a keeper. It is obvious that he adores you and you have become his everything. Bless all 3 of you.
Rodney’s little waggy tail is adorable! 😍 He’ll start to feel safer at nighttime & his fear response will go. I’m so glad be became Campers brother. ❤️
🐶 The only items missing for your dog's safety are seat belts!! 🎉 🐕🦺 My Emotional Support Dog Bailey Girl almost went through our windshield when my husband had to slam on the brakes!! 😢 We bought the pet seat belts 2 years ago!! ❤ #davesandersstepdaughter
I agree! I always have my little one belted or in her soft carrier. There was an accident in LA a couple wks ago and a man was ejected out of his RV back window when his wife hit a barrier on the freeway. Safety first! 😄
Yay, the mystery man is back…and he has a name!! So excited to see more of you and Justin together! Love that you have a special someone in your life, Nikki. ☺️
I'm ashamed of myself to admit, but I'm so relieved. The world has many dangers for women, and having a man around offers a layer of protection from the predators who target women who are living solo and traveling.
@@lmiller1413 You are absolutely right. But I'm afraid that this wonderful, cheerful guy is nothing more than a friend, buddy, good acquaintance... of the beautiful Nikki. Unfortunately, what is dangerous for women is not so much men, who can be compared to large predators, but other women. The latter can be overly jealous, envious, and also have cruel fornication, which increases bitterness. Such women resemble snakes. They look harmless and are easy and fun to be around, but inside they have strong poison. Often such women provoke men to commit crimes. So you're absolutely right. A strong family is the key to security.
As a diehard rescuer, facing sadness every day, this new love story gives me life. Words just can't describe how much it means to me that you adopted a second dog. My minimum has long been 2 dogs. So many need homes and dogs love having siblings. Ya did good, lady
I was so happy and surprised to see Rodney off his leash! I remember how long it took Camper to get off his leash! It's great that they getting along so well! Nikki you are a brave woman taking a cold plunge in Lake Tahoe in January! 🥶💙🤪🥰
Rodney is such a lucky puppy , he has the best brother and dog mom . His nighttime issue will go away in time . The views of Lake tahoe are stunning. That's a great way to start a day, coffee, and a cold plunge .
Hi Nikki, Camper and Rodney, I'm happy to see you are all settling in, despite Rodney not feeling well. Nikki, you need to meet Lee Asher of Asher House. The two of you have such a love for animals, I think you would enjoy seeing the Sanctuary he has created. I'm looking forward to seeing your adventures. Safe travels 🤗🤗🤗
You're a wonderful momma bear to your babies. Being a momma bear myself, I couldn't help but worry when you were hiking without a survival pack. It's just the protective instinct kicking in, making sure you're safe and sound in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Take care, one momma bear to another! 🫂
Camper is so into all your awesome adventures as I see him totally glued in the passenger sit, as he’s looking out front and side windows as you’re driving. It’s like he’s a human sitting there. These 2 beautiful dogs were mean to be in your life. And they are lucky to have you in both in their lives. My family has had over 9 different dogs, in my lifetime from local shelters where we live, and some were from pet stores and from our veterinarian office. And other animals and goldfish and tropical fish too. I own a 14 year old Jack Russell Terrier, and I talk to her all the time and I know she’s listening to myself. And I really love her too.
Nikki get used to it, and remember one happy thought they’re still cheaper than kids. I just spent $1100 bucks last week on both of my GSD’s. Split up between the wellness exams, their yearly vaccinations. The monthly Librela shot for the older one to help with her arthritis. And the follow up and suture removal on the one year-old due to the laceration, he received on his leg due to the asshole, shooting all fireworks and stressing both of them out, and I said it’s still cheaper than kids!
Its wonderful to see the blossoming relationship with Camper and RV, so sorry to hear hes not well but great that you caught it early. You are an amazing dog mom so he is in good hands. RV did really well on the hike and the views were stunning. Great to see you with Justin again x
Aw, Rodney is just the cutest little sweetheart. Camper is like a guardian, a warrior, but Rodney is a romantic, a lover. So now you have all the bases covered with them. Sad that both of them had a lot of early life trauma, but thankfully they are living their best lives now together with you. It’s good that you always pet and feed Camper too so he doesn’t feel deeply hurt or jealous. It helps to integrate animals with each other, as is happening with your boys. And I’m always happy to see you traveling with a friend, keep you safe and happy, because WE LOVE NIKKI. Bless you, dear girl. Enjoy your week.
Too many things I love about this video to list them all! Love the new addition to the pack, love the light up collars, love that you have such a heart to take on another furry family member Nikki 🥰
When I adopted my second dog, she has a lot of issues from things she’d been through. She would sleep on the edge of my bed kind of hunched up and ready to bolt at a moments notice. She’d run and hide in my closet a lot. It took a full year of living with me and my other doggo for her to finally feel fully safe and secure. Now she sleeps totally relaxed sprawled out right by my shoulder, snoring like a diesel truck 😂 . So the night time aggression may minimize or go away over time once Rodney settles in and starts to heal from his trauma.
My wife and I picked up two stray cats that hated each other until we got them neutered. Then they were best friends. We got them about 12 years ago. We lost one of them last week to kidney failure. The other one wouldn’t let me touch him for the last 12 years. And if he saw me with a rake or broom in my hands he would run and hide. We assume a man abused him before because he will let my wife walk right up to him. In the last week since we lost Lewis he has let me walk by him and he purred for the first time yesterday while I was petting him. First time purring for me anyway. All it took was 12 years and the loss of his best friend to warm up to me.
Nikki your endless love for these pups is so admirable! One thing I want to point out for your viewers (since I think you are following this protocol behind the scenes) is that with a puppy they should only walk once or twice a day for 5 minutes per month of their age. Their joints aren’t even connected until a year or older so you can do major damage to their joints by overdoing at a young age. Just because they can doesn’t mean they should. Okay now that that disclaimer is done everyone can go back to viewing RV & Camper’s great Tahoe adventures! Cheers!
Plus Lyme disease attacks the joints (in humans at least, speaking from experience here). So more reason to be careful about over exercising until it is dealt with.
I feel so happy now knowing I’m not the only one with hair all over my clothes. I always see people with dogs and they seem so hair free! Then I look at my clothes and want to climb under a rock! Now I can walk with confidence since Nikki can pull it off!
I love how through Camper's body language and his intense staring forward whenever you're driving seems to signify his anticipation and excitement of where you are to stop next. Glad you were able to rescue Rodney and give Camper a little brother in doing so.
I’ve been watching you for a couple of years now (before you found camper). I have always loved your videos. I’m touched by your love for animals and so happy you have 2 fur babies in your family now.
Nikki, I don’t know if you will even see this message BUT I wanted to say the BIGGEST thank you for not just rescuing Rodney but most importantly keeping him when you found out he had some health issues, I live in Australia and volunteer at a rescue and foster dogs when I can, and so SO MANY times we have dogs adopted and then “returned “ because they had health problems/ or behavioural problems. Some of These dogs have been treated so so badly, it takes a lot of time, patience and so much LOVE 🥰 to help them adjust to their Furever home. Thank you 🙏🏻 for not giving up on Rodney, you are a WONDERFUL human being Sending thanks 🙏🏻 and love 🥰 from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤❤❤
I adopted a dog that spent the 1st year of her life in a wild pack. She looks like Rodney. I taught her two words to gain her trust, boo and brave. I used the word boo with her when she was scared and she new I understood. It was so fun watching her when I told her she was brave..she was so proud!
I made a “vegetable medley” aka fridge full of veggies got tossed in as well as some frozen Turkey and frozen peas. It’s a mix of like a million veggies bc you inspired me but then I was curious what you flavored your veggies with or just eat them simply cooked in the pan. Lol I ended up adding stuff that’s the flavoring for “eggroll in a bowl” aka coco aminos, rice vinegar, garlic and ginger paste and may add some Siracha. Or not. It’s mystery clean out dinner. Veggies I had were broccoli, kale, onions, carrots, celery, mushrooms and tossed in some peas and Turkey from freezer just bc I needed to use the Turkey and started to make a pot pie but didn’t feel like dealing with crust so here we went. Might serve with rice or just as is. Also so good of you to reassure your new puppy that he’s safe at night and that’s probably why he’s licking your face when he wakes up at night with a mom and a brother to protect him. He’s happy and thanking you. Poor baby. I hope all of his illnesses are easily resolved and your cameras are fixed or dealt with. Take care. I enjoy checking in on your channel off and on. Makes me smile.
This is such an AMAZING video. This is my home town...you actually got the house my Grandfather built in this video. I can't explain how happy this video makes me. Thanks for ALL your videos. I enjoy watching your travels so much!!!!
Hi Nikki, your a GREAT K9 mommy, you show so much ❤️❤️❤️ affection to those doggy and a place of safety. Your doing a great job! Giving them the best adventures.🙂
I am so glad that Rodney has a loving family & a safe home. I guess that for Rodney it will still take a while for him to settle in but I can see that is very happy. He looks to be part Doxie and is very cute.
When I need to wake up, I make coffee. No icecold lakes for me, thank you. You are obviously made of sterner stuff than I. Camper is the world's best pal and Rodney is the world's most adorable pal. Power to the poochies! And keep your own sweet self safe!
Teenzo, I'll bet 100-1 that if you tried cold therapy it would change your life for the better. It's a hidden secret to life that's becoming more known, and if you think about it, most things that are good for you are hard, uncomfortable, perhaps a little painful but you'll slowly get use to it, acclimated until eventually, you can't live without it. Say goodbye to depression, say goodbye to getting sick and say hello to a secret only those few who endure the initial agony uncover.
You should get GPS dog collars for Camper and Rodney. It will not only locate them if they get lost, it monitors their sleep, tracks their steps, etc. Wouldn't it be fun to know how many steps they take or how many hours they sleep in a day.
Happy life, happy dogs, Happy wonderful woman. Life is a miracle.. Eat good food, dogs deserve the best. You give them paradise. Wonderful world on wheels. Smile😊Rick
You should be proud of that basket, and all the things you have accomplished in the last year. Amazing. Look forward to your 2024 projects and adventures!❤
I adopted a dog from Puerto Rico who has Ehrlichiosis. He had bad bloody diarrhea most of the time. I started treating him with alternative herbal treatments and he is doing GREAT! You can tell his joints were a little stiff at first too but that made a turn-around. I'm sure the diet changed helped too. Now it's freeze-dried raw in the am and raw (some times slightly cooked) in the pm.
I travel with my 2 pups. Can't imagine life without them. For sure there is an adjustment period for all when you get a new pet. But once all has settled in it is the best!
So happy for you guys that you kept Rodney! Just wanted to also say, be careful with feeding them food cooked with onion (even if not feeding them actual onion)... I made that mistake thinking just a nibble would be okay but it made my little pup really sick! Thanks for another great video!
I love the fallen Leaf lake. I’ve camped at few different campgrounds there in the past few months. It’s only 3 hrs to my house in Bay Area. Such a slice of heaven there. I am surprised it’s not snow covered right now unless this was filmed awhile ago,
I love Fallen Leaf Lake! Spent a few scary nights with bats flapping around there, before I wasn’t afraid of them anymore. The more you know. 😘 Lake Tahoe is no joke. I learned how to water ski there and it was great because you did not want to fall in so even more impetus to stay up on the skis.
You're my hero for adopting Rodney. Liked and subscribed. I put a 15 foot lease on my dog and let her out in the yard before I go to bed. With the lease on she knows to do her business and not play. I stand in the doorway. You will get use to the midnight potty break.
It is important to watch out for coyotes, someone that I was acquainted with lost her small dog letting it out to go potty, she did not stay outside but within a few minutes, those coyotes ran off with her dog ( she knew about the danger but said she felt “lazy” that night) it was just heart breaking to know that this happened!
The shower part is hilarious. I literally said the same thing to myself last night taking a shower on top of a mountain in Utah, in my cargo trailer conversion. only about half gallon spilled over the edge.
Going into Lake Tahoe water is just crazy! I was there years ago and I visited the Vikingsholm right next to the lake below where you were hiking and hiked the two State Parks close by. It cost me $1 to go into each park to hike and the ranger let me pay when leaving and told me if I did not think the hike was worth it I would not have to pay! Well, it was extremely worth it and I gladly paid the $2! I stayed in South Lake Tahoe for about $40/night and they even provided donuts in the morning! That van you have now is quite an upgrade from the Prius! I drive a 2009 Prius and love it!
So sorry to hear about the Ehrlichlia! This was a big concern for us with our dog/foster dogs while living in Costa Rica. I’m surprised someone would put in the effort of traveling with him just to abandon him. He’s lucky to have you to give him the care and treatment he needs to be as healthy as possible. Hugs
Rodney has the kindest face. While an adjustment for Camper, I imagine, the net gain should be a best friend forever. As I added dogs, the benefits revealed. The night scares, I agree - living on the streets, the night could be scary times. It’s almost like doggie PTSD. Understandably so.
If you want to get in a better mood and you like coffee get an Ember temp. controlled mug for the road. It keeps your coffee perfect for over an hour and is perfect for desk jobs, travelers, and people in bad moods. It's a great tool to perk you up. I hate my coffee getting cold or luke after 20 minutes.
So awesome to see you still doing your thing and making great content. I was subscribed but had a tough year with cancer and the passing of my father. With the help of watching your channel when you had the Prius I've decided to buy a new sprinter van conversion and go on an adventure after the sale of my house. Thanks Nikki
Rodney fits in great with his chillattitude. Glad you were able to add him to your crew. I saw on your Instagram it looks like you've been hanging with the Vanwives and we'll see some content soon. I've been following them for years too.
Im just INAWE of you Nickki your a. Allrounder Beautiful Human inside and out Smart interesting ,i could go on but the Bestest is your a Brilliant Rescurer 👏 saved Two Gorgeous dogs lives and giving them their Bestest life.GODBLESSyou Camper and Rodney ,stay safe Stay Happy, lots love Me V Australia 🇦🇺
Next time you go to a pet store, look for a belly strap for Rodney. It is a soft diaper for dogs that have the same issues as Rodney. It is a wide belt with a place to place a dog diaper pad and is kept in place with a velcro closer😊
It is not always the “family did not want the dog.” I know dogs run off on their own. They don’t know their way back. Tags come off and chips are not 100%. So there are strays. I have one. He is joy to my heart.
Poor Rodney, little guy has had a hard life up until now. Have you ever thought of going to Texas and helping Matt Carriker AKA Demo Ranch, Off The Ranch, Vet Ranch to set up some RV/Van life spots? He is planning out an abandoned resort and would love some ideas on what folks need and want at a quality resting place/ holiday spot. He is also a Vet, father, husband and just nice guy all round and could maybe help get you some bulk subs as it is just what he likes to do for good folks and secretly gets a kick out of introducing his fans to other channels.
Awesome video as always Nikki, Camper and R.V. Two dogs one van it must be a barrel of fun and laughs can't wait to see the next adventure y'all take us along on.

Camper and Rodney now live the lives of princes and kings.
I'm happy to see people helping animals!
I don’t think I could ever do van life or life without a pup they just make things better. 🐶 🐩 🐕 ❤
Here here 🙌 ❤
Your boys are absolutely adorable. Rodney's little face is so precious he is truly a keeper. It is obvious that he adores you and you have become his everything. Bless all 3 of you.
Really lovely seeing the growing relationship with Rodney and Camper ❤
I am so happy Rodney is fitting in. He is truly one lucky dog.
Rodney’s little waggy tail is adorable! 😍
He’ll start to feel safer at nighttime & his fear response will go. I’m so glad be became Campers brother. ❤️
Sleeping outside at night, he would have to sleep lightly and be on guard for predators. That would be normal.
Rodney is like a little baby . They are very lucky to have a wonderful leader.

My favourite part is the beggening with the catchy music ❤❤❤ and when you go lik 🤘🏽👏
I have visited beautiful Lake Tahoe 3 times in the last few years, and I won't be jumping in the lake in the Winter! You two are crazy!
Rodney is so lucky to have you. I absolutely love and look forward to all videos. Keep up the good work Nikki
I travel with my 2 pups. Can't imagine life without them. For sure there is an adjustment period for all when you get a new pet. But once all has settled in it is the best!
I love Rodney. What a great addition to the family he is. Makes me almost want to get another pup for my almost 2 year old MiKi.
Your two dogs are so lucky to have you take care of them! They are truly loved! 😍❤️🇨🇦
So happy for you guys that you kept Rodney! Just wanted to also say, be careful with feeding them food cooked with onion (even if not feeding them actual onion)... I made that mistake thinking just a nibble would be okay but it made my little pup really sick! Thanks for another great video!
You are healing Rodney’s broken heart.
Rodney seems to be getting his hiking legs! Glad he and Camper get along! Hope he is doing and feeling ok.
Hi Nikki, thanks for taking us up the mountain for that great view . I admire your trust in leaving your van all alone in the bush. Be safe.
Love the new addition A good match. Thank you, ALL stay safe
He's doing great off-leash already! Camper is a good teacher.
I love the fallen Leaf lake. I’ve camped at few different campgrounds there in the past few months. It’s only 3 hrs to my house in Bay Area. Such a slice of heaven there. I am surprised it’s not snow covered right now unless this was filmed awhile ago,
I love it that both dogs "talk!" :) I hope Rodney gets healthy soon. I know he's in good hands!
What an fabulous find this is, so loving your journey with your dogs, looking forward to watching some of your past videos and future videos.
Hope Rodney gets better soon. He and Camper are so cute. Thanks for sharing them.
You're my hero for adopting Rodney. Liked and subscribed. I put a 15 foot lease on my dog and let her out in the yard before I go to bed. With the lease on she knows to do her business and not play. I stand in the doorway. You will get use to the midnight potty break.
Thank you!!!! ❤️
Oh my goodness, little Rodney has stolen my heart!❤🐾
Camper ❤❤ & Rodney ❤❤ is all I need to say prayers and blessings to you all ❤❤❤❤
It’s good and enjoyable to spend your time with your two fur babies enjoy your adventures
So happy for Rodney, love him and Camper!!!! God bless you Nicki!! I live in the Tahoe area, so beautiful!!!❤
It's so fun to see double the pleasure doggies!
Ur so cool having that kind of van was the best thing will happen if evr I experience that life ❤❤❤
Rodney hoping he get well from his diseases, keep well You, Camper and Rodney drive careful.
Love the new addition and I love when you talk for them, Funny!
Not much, but I hope it helps Rodney get better.
The campster and Rodders !! What a double act !!💞
It is not always the “family did not want the dog.” I know dogs run off on their own. They don’t know their way back. Tags come off and chips are not 100%. So there are strays. I have one. He is joy to my heart.
Super to show that even you have a challenging day. Thanks for being honest
I just knew you were gonna adopt Rodney. How can you pass that cutie up? Good job Nikki!
Camper is a iconic dog in TH-cam
Another adventure with the beautiful girl. And your faithful friend. A toast to nature.
You need to get steps for Rodney to get in and out of the van. Don’t wait for him to start hesitating because by then he will already be in pain.
I'm so glad you got Rodney for camper your so beautiful happy camping boondocking
Ice 🧜♀️, love it. I have a rescue doggy. Seeing camper being happy with RV makes me think about getting a second 🐶❤
❤love all ur videos Nikki what great energy and positivity ❤
Awesome video as always Nikki, Camper and R.V. Two dogs one van it must be a barrel of fun and laughs can't wait to see the next adventure y'all take us along on.
