For me, this was a really easy decision to make. The game heavily implies (Particularly in Ep4) that there are multiple timelines going on simultaneously, and that max is not so much as "changing events" more like leaping through realities, choosing to live in the one she likes best. Similar to Bioshock Infinity, in which multiple timelines exist at the same time across the universe, and in one Booker accepted his baptism and became Comstock, whereas in another he didn't. So your last choice in Life is Strange, is not so much as "Saving Chloe vs Saving Arcadia Bay"; regardless of what you do, Chloe WILL die in that bathroom in one timeline, Chloe WILL end up a quadruplejic cripple then die from respiratory failure in another, Chloe WILL die from a headshot from Jefferson in another, and Arcadia Bay WILL get wrecked by the tornado in yet another. Max is simply choosing what reality she wishes to live in. So hell yes, I chose to live in the reality in which Chloe also lives.
No, you will eventually end up with a world that is spiraling out of control. That was the beginning, the storm. It was also stated and shown max shouldn't be where she is and is seriously fucking up reality. If the goes to far other realities will cease to exist or worse. I let Chloe die and reset the events, stoping the timelines from becoming screwed. It was meant to be, and it but weight behind the game in a way that I believe needed to be Canon. Her death, from the choices she was making, was bound to happen. And max saved no one originally, AND Chloe wanted to save Arcadia bay. She even realized it was time to go. I made my choice to let her get shot. And because of that I think it's one of the most powerful points of the game, and she is by far my favorite video game character solely because I have SO many parallels to her. Let her and Rachel rest. Life just sucks like that.
@@williamelliott186 Your argument is based on two things: 1) Max's guilt-fueled hallucination. 2) Warren's speculation. That is a very limited data set and neither is reliable for reaching a logical conclusion. If you need evidence that the Bae Ending doesn't end in eventual time/space collapse, you need look no further than Life Is Strange 2. It asks up front if you saved or destroyed Arcadia Bay. Choosing the latter eventually reveals that Max and Chloe went on to travel the country together, having literally and figuratively moved on. The devs have confirmed that both endings are canonical. You're free to chose whichever you want and whatever meaning or emotional context you take away them is valid. But to assert that one is right and one is wrong is simply untrue.
+Tim Suetens Your comment is made more perfect by the fact that you have Albert Wesker as your profile picture...now I imagine him becoming a Sith Lord. Thanks for that.
This is what the girls always wanted. While twisted and dark. I think sacrificing the town is the better and actual true ending players should choose. If it wasn't, the characters wouldn't be smiling as they leave the town. Yes they were sad, but they look so relieved to finally be leaving and leaving together.
+heartlessoni13 I think another important thing is the fact that they have each other and can deal with the decision together, while in the other ending nothing Max did happened since she went back in time and she is the only one who will deal with it, alone.
heartlessoni13 I think all of us would choose to save the town. I mean, Chloe is the only one person and in Arcadia there’s so many people. But this game told us by Chloe, that no matter what we’ll choose it’s gonna be right decision. This kind of situation can look easy now, but in real life I’m not sure If I wouldn’t kill myself.
@@sandudelcea6707 many things I recommend the comic which is the direct continuation of this end you can find it in full on the net tell me if you want the link :)
No matter what anyone says this kiss is a thousand times better than the others. The way Max desperately wants to continue the kiss, Chloe's confusion and also being thrilled at that tragic moment is just perfect. They are fully in love
Fun fact: Some people think that the "Sacrifice Chloe" ending is the canon one, because that ending features a much longer video, and this one ends rather abruptly. This was very much NOT the intention of the developers. They simply made the Chloe ending first, but then ran out of budget when doing the Arcadia Bay ending, which is why this one is much shorter. Also they refused to add the kiss in the original version because they felt that Chloe and Max kissing while their hometown is getting wrecked in the distance was too much of a mood whiplash, but that they do indeed kiss a couple of days after they've left the town, and couldn't show it simply because the cutscene was shortened for budgetary reasons. I can only hope that at some point, they do a Director's Cut edition of this game, to add what they couldn't initially due to the budget.
@@jisung7441 sure will bud. I was not trying to be mean. I was just telling you people have opinions and should not be called stupid for them. It just bothers me when something is spelled wrong or put in wrong order. And yes I am fully aware I probably worded this and the first reply wrong and that bothers me.
I keep coming back to watch this ending over and over. It's the best bits of both endings. I can't get over the image of max and Chloe kissing with tornado in the background; it's such a powerful image, and bet they took it straight from the concept art. :)
+ThatScruffyGuy Amen. I'm addicted to this, So bad! It's almost compulsory how many times i keep coming back to watch it! It makes me feel like shit understandably, but at the same time really happy for Chloe and Max. ^^
"Max, It's time..." "Not anymore". When I heard that, I knew I made the right choice (for myself). I fell in love with Chloe, and I really couldn't even think about a minute of Max without her. During the entire game I was supposed to save/leave someone, but I kinda knew I had to sacrifice my best friend/love in the end; Kate and Joyce apart, I felt like I was used and almost felt transparent to other people. Also, people hid in bunkers so casualties were at minimum. This game taught me that we cannot have happiness without something sad to back it up. Best game ever.
besides.. the diner looked pretty much intact, so if it survived the storm so did Joyce, Warren Frank and of course Pompidou.. all important people on board! - I can live with that!
The Life Poster Bae over bay. Personally if you picked save the Bay then you're sentencing Max to live in a reality where she went through all of that shit alone and she can't even talk about it. it's a life of nightmares and terrors no one could understand. so I chose to save Chloe. I didn't want Max to be alone.
Kennady Boone, the reason I went with Saving Chloe was because I felt like I'd gone through the whole game trying to save her so I might as well ultimately do that. But that's a really good piece of analysis there, when I replayed and saw the save arcadia ending, the first thought I had was "If that was me, I'd just top myself" Would be far too much to bare, I actually thought that was going to be the end scene lol
That would've been a really powerful ending actually, but I think that would've fucked with people's heads a little too much and it would've sent a lot of people on some bad guilt trips
+Random2960 They fucking better be safe, otherwise the game is pointless. Think about it, in the other ending nothing happened because you went back in time, and in the city destroyed ending they are all dead.
Francisco Ramos I have been thinking about this games ending for the last two months. I was pretty disappointed about the way it ended but meh. I seem to never get "the happy ending" in any game. They all have some kind of way to fuck me over. I came to the conclusion that i can always imagine what happened in the end :D
But ironically the save Chloe ending doesn't give you a kissing scene, just them driving away, Chloe eerily at peace with her mom being dead after losing her dad had shattered her before.
If you look closely the diner is not destroyed, is in bad shape as we saw when we got the photo from Warren. So I think there's a possibility they actually survived
The storm is meant to be. The town is flushed off the Prescott corruption, the environmental abuse and the bad things it framed. It's not an event of destruction, it's a purification, a rebirth. I don't think it implies the people die, in fact the restaurant stands, it's more like a second chance to Arcadia to be the sanctuary it was. And it wouldn't mean anything to Max without Chloe.
All I was waiting for was an affirmation of the love I feel for Chloe, but It never really came. It was such a let down. I would have been lying on the floor in full fetal mode, as a 24 year old man, crying had this been the ending I saw. But for some reason, Dontnod felt that saving Chloe must be punished. I guess you can't have any real expressing of love when people are about to die. But I CHOOSE Chloe over all those people, I knew full well the consequences of my actions and yet i decided that living without Chloe would be worse then the pain of that destruction. So why could I not have THIS ending? Now the moment is ruined. The intense emotions of the final moments of the game, I will probably never experience those the same way again on a second playthrough. I just hope they don't spit in the face of us who love, the next time they make a game. Love is not selfless, as the original ending obviously tries to make you believe. "You are only allowed to love if it's not in your own interest" fuck you, is all I'll say to such sentiment.
+maggru91 Wow that was intense, thanks for sharing dude. Yeah i, like you, was also waiting for this to happen, and felt even more disappointed that the other ending got it. This is why i made the video, the whole game and endings felt great to me, there was just the kiss missing, which is what i tried to change. Anyway, once you do another playthrough, after you complete the nightmare, just load up my video :D
+maggru91 "I guess you can't have any real expressing of love when people are about to die." - guess that's bullshit. Expression of love in such situation is still a search for proof for the decision, and it's total garbage that saving Chloe is accompanied with coldhearted sequence, the final scene should've included the kiss anyway
Senceinterpreter Well that's how dontnod explained it on twitter. "It wasn't the moment for it" It's complete bullshit because I just picked her over all others, and it was precisely because I loved her. But I will not be allowed to say it or express that love in any way. And the way the endings were made, in terms of length and quality, you just know dontnod wants you to kill Chloe. And as such, they feel they must punish those of us who picked love.
I was disappointed with those outcomes too. But I honestly see it as a trick on your emotions/beliefs. To quote Mitch Albom: "Sacrifice is a part of life. It's suppose to be. It's not something to regret. It's something to aspire to." Choosing to sacrifice Chloe obviously pains Max. Even while attending the funeral she smiles, but as she remembers her friend. Sure she has her memories, but its obvious shes not truly happy. Sacrificing the town, while they are sad of the destruction, but they show clear aspiration. They show relief to finally be making their dreams come true. which had always been to leave the town, together. while they dont kiss. The two do appear happier and brighter. eager to start a new life together. I think sacrificing the town is what the player should actually be choosing. But they trick you, by making you feel inhumane for sacrificing an entire town to save ONE GIRL. but think about it, that ONE GIRL means the world to Max.
Even though it's such a small detail, I love when Chloe grabs Max's hand and her other hand goes from holding in strength, to suddenly letting go. It feels like she at that moment admitted to the entire truth of everything that was happening or has happened.
Man this is so perfect ! Chloe and Max are so cute together,Warren is cute but not more than Chloe and Chloe shows that loves Max and Warren does not show much. Pricefield Forever!!!! :)
Okay peoples, i added the last entry of Max's journal to the description (didn't know you could access the journal in cutscenes before, so i hadn't read it otherwise i would put it in the video, since i cannot edit the video anymore, i added to the description, take a look, it's really sweet!).
+Francisco Ramos I went into the game and took screenshots of the diary so i added the links to the description. I also added cut audio from the game where Max says she loves Chloe.
+Francisco Ramos BEST ENDING EVAH!! Thanks for making this! Ah.. Dear Sweet Closure. You've made a much better ending than Don'tnod themselves did. I can't not pick this option every time now. The link below helped as well, as that's how i felt as i watched the ending. www.reddit.com/r/lifeisstrange/comments/3pj5xu/ep5_spoilers_michel_koch_about_one_of_the_endings/
+QuestionMark When she says "not anymore" it can mean 3 different things in this scene: -Chloe says "Don't forget about me", and then Max says "not anymore" because she is gonna rip the photo and will not go back to let her die, thus never forgetting about her since they will not be apart. -Or could also be like she said "not anymore" because she changes her mind about the idea of going back that Chloe was trying to convince her to do. This fits because Max feels she doesn't want to let Chloe go after realizing she loves her after they kiss. -It can also be that she is not using her powers anymore, because its what caused the storm, so she won't use her power to go back and rips the photo. i could make her not say anything by removing voices at that time and subtitles, but i thought this way was better. I could also just make she rip the photo after the kiss, but Chloe's "I'll always love you.." was too sweet not to include.
+Francisco Ramos Or what about the option where you help in Chloe's assisted suicide when she is paralyzed and dying? She says "Max Caulfield don't you forget about me." and Max says "never" before she dies... (EXACTLY like in the ending of polarized :( ) I found it so sad that scene had to happen twice
+Francisco Ramos You made the right choice leaving it. ^^ I like to see the "Not anymore!" as defiance, and a Giant middle finger ,,I,- to any so called "fate" for Chloe having to die. Or for her having to lose something precious to her ever again.
THIS! Man why couldn't they make the ending like this?.. It's like you don't get anything for saving Chloe, i don't wanna freaking kill her to get a kiss!
Bless this! Still glad it later got confirmed to be canon in the save Chloe ending but this is how it should've been. ... and am I the only one who loves how Max caresses Chloe's back when Chloe gives her that side hug? *le sigh*
+Genkosu It's almost like she is glad that she will not lose Chloe again, but that she is ashamed of her decision and seeing the city be destroyed. Back in the city you can see she is still ashamed of her choice, but Chloe conforts her and she realizes Chloe will always be there and they can deal with this together and that is why she cheers up at the ending. In the other ending she is alone because she went back in time and nothing of this week happened to anyone, so she has nobody on her side and only memories of what happened, only Max is changed in this outcome, but not for the best in my opinion. It's a hard decision in both cases, but in both of them you have to deal with losing something or someone. But only in this choice Max is not alone, she has Chloe with her that went to the same ordeals as she did, this is one of the reasons i prefer this ending. As well as the fact that in the other ending, its like she surrenders because she cannot control fate and nothing is changed from what was going to happen. With this ending, she can change fate, even while not being a perfect outcome, and deal with the consequences.
+Genkosu Confirmed to be canon in the save Chloe ending? You mean by going way together in a car? As obvious as it is, yes they are gay but I wouldnt call that scene proof for making Pricefield canon.
+Francisco Ramos Since they don't show many people but one body, that just leaves ambiguity to me as to survivors. Frankly, I'm happy with choosing this, knowing it's a possibility they're around
+Andy Shepard I agree, even if they are all dead, i'd still say the same about this ending. Also there is more than just one body, if you look closely i think you can see 4 or 5. The funny thing is that when the tornado is destroying the town it looks like its gonna be total destruction, but when they arrive in town it doesn't look that bad, several buildings are standing. The diner doesn't look damaged much, and even though there is an explosion while you are playing, it doesn't look like its damaged by an explosion there, you can see smoke rising from it though so i don't know. The hospital could have transported patients like Kate somewhere else and David, the extra cops and Jefferson could still be in the bunker. I like to think that the choices you made while you are roaming through the storm or previously in the game are actually meaningful, like i saved Alyssa, Evan, made Frank know about Rachel's death, made Victoria be a better person, made Joyce regain her trust in David (i kicked him out before), saved Kate, tried to make Logan be more mature, and many other decisions. So it's like to me you finish their stories and they would survive (otherwise it would just be stupid and meaningless since in the other ending it didn't happen and in this ending they would be dead). It's nice that its kind of ambiguous that obviously people died during the tornado but it's not clear who, and so your friends can be alive.
+hurrdurr25 Exactly!!! The writers pushed SO hard for the "Save Arcadia Bay"-ending and its "don't meddle with the Natural Order/God's Domain"-morality, but in doing so forced the main character to basically do *exactly* what was supposedly wrong all the time: not stand by her choices, and instead "fix" things through time travel.
TL;DR: Im okay with a game making me sad but when it does it by making all your actions meaningless it can go fuck itself and get a 0/10000. +Jan-Erik Ella Hearing that is what made me stop watching any videos to do with this series. If there is one thing I hate in games its when the odds are so fucking stacked against you you start to wonder "Why the fuck did I play this game if Im just going to get fucked over?" This isnt "dont meddle in Gods domain" its "heres why you should feel fucking terrible at seeing this girl die." Its not only shitty writing because youre supposed to know the character before they die, but because you could effectively turn off the game after 15 minutes and get the entire story. Or rather the entire "cannon" story. I mean for fucks sake rearrange it so that Max goes back one week and meets Chloe and letting the entire story play out the same would have been so much better. At least that way you can go "okay I have a week before she dies" instead of "yay I saved her time to have fun with my powers and my old friend." Not to mention the entire game up to that point has only had you rewind by like a minute. Now because you have a photo you can go back to when it started? Everything about how this was done is so fucking wrong it infuriates me. But the main reason I hate this is because I fucking hate manipulators. And thats what this game is. It gets you all happy and pleased about how you're doing good with your powers the emotional connection you share with Chloe builds as you go through so much together, you both worry about what that storm may mean and in the end you either have to sacrifice an entire town or the girl the game has gone out of its way to make you love and think you saved. Well easiest decision of my life. She lives and anyone else can go fuck themselves. The town, the creators trying to enforce a cannon ending on a game about choice, and anyone saying Im a dick for picking one person over a hundred. I didnt pick her the game did. If shes so fucking important that saving her gives Max superpowers then no fucking way am I letting all those memories vanish.'' ...... things like this is why I got into writing fanfiction.... time and time again Ive seen professionals drop the ball and fuck up their characters or their ending or the moral they try to teach. And time and time again Ive seen people fix it or do it better... They say the only ending to a story is the one the creator comes up with but when that ending goes against everything youve been shown so far then something is wrong. And it is up to the audience to speak out about it.
TheDark4light it’s what make it unique, how would you feel if you lived in a world where we’re all the same? It’s meant to be enjoyed physically and mentally. In a weird way.
I feel like the worst part of this ending is the fact that Chloe felt abandoned when she died. She didn't have Rachel, and the last time she saw Max was four years earlier. That's what made me burst into tears because I know what it feels like to be abandoned by everyone. Today, October seventh, actually marks Chloe's death day. Rest in peace, Chloe, we all love you.
thank you so much for making this video edit! this ending is so much better than the original "Sacrifice Arcadia Bay" Ending. The original one was just depressing because they seem to friendzone Max and Chloe in the original ending. The worst ending was the one where you Sacrifice Chloe, it's just so anti-climatic and there's a feeling of hopelessness with that ending, because the whole game was Max saving her love, Chloe, and in that ending, Max just randomly gives up and everything that you experienced with Chloe and the other characters is undone. The whole game send a message, about "never giving up on someone you love, no matter what". And that ending just goes against Max's character. Your edit to the Save Chloe ending gives the player a sense of hope and it makes it a beautiful, bitter sweet ending, rather than it being pure bitter. THIS is the true ending, and this is the ending that I accept in my heart. Because it shows that Max and Chloe have each other, no matter what. The kiss makes a huge difference. At first I was so annoyed with the original ending but after seeing this, I feel so much better. Btw, here is an Epilogue that I found (a fan fiction). It's a very nice epilogue to this ending. Here's the link: www.fanfiction.net/s/11570384/1/Postscript
+Clare J. Thanks, i'm glad people are enjoying the video. I also felt there was something missing with this ending, while i liked it, it felt it was over too quick, so i tested the other ending and was surprised and disappointed that there was a kiss and this ending didn't have one, so i immediately created the video to change it. I also agree with you about the other ending, to me this feels like the right ending, but i wouldn't say any of them are "Good ending" or "Bad ending", it really depends on the player. Thanks for posting this fan fiction, i'll read it when i have time and maybe i can include in the video description too.
I don't get Max just giving up either. I think it was the homeless woman at Two Wales that told Max, "you can't save everyone." That's true, and it's why you always save your loved ones.
+Yang Xiao Long Yeah I am with you on this... they made them way too relatable hahahaha, still want to cry just thinking about those heart breaking decisions :c
I don't understand why people think it was Chloes destiny to die. (Why would you have a vision of the storm when you didn't do anything yet, it's more destinylike to let the storm happen . Yes the first time she used it was to save Chloe but I don't believe that even if you let Chloe die everything would be ok. What if you would use this power later again? I never watched the other ending, I couldn't do it. After the whole episodes I couldn't let anyone of them die. Yes I felt guilty when I walked through the diner and everybody was there , also the "evil" Max hit me pretty hard in the guts. But when the memories of the week with Chloe came I knew that nothig could chance my mind to protect both of them. And when some of you now say "think about the greater good", well shit. I could never kill someone that I love for the sake of other people. It's good to know some of you guys are out there who can but I am not great as that. I just hella love this game.
to outright kill someone like that is like assuming the identity of the grim reaper. to me it's just absurd. i could never kill someone like that, destine them to death and there is not justification to this. a person should not make this kind of decision. Max was already forced to do it with William...it's a slap in the face to not save her or at least keep on trying to fix things.
I think she is destined to die cause: if you save her from dying in the bathroom, in saving his father life she will have the accident in his place and later dies by Max's hand or, if you choose not to kill her, she will eventually die from her lung failure. She will also find death by Jefferson's hand after you discover Rachel's body. So..
Dontnod needs to rerelease LiS with THIS ending! The differences you made are subtle and seamless, but make the choice to save Chloe a lot more impactful and rewarding. Well done and thank you for uploading this!
I had to go with this ending, especially after the conversation by the lighthouse where Chloe said, Max, you finally came back to me this week and showed me your love and friendship. You made smile and laugh, like I haven't done in years." If you let Chloe die, she would never know those things. Never know what happened to Rachel and never seen Max.
As was famously once said "A "hero" will sacrifice you to save the world. And a "villain" will sacrifice the world to save you." Call me a villain then. I'll wear that badge. Another quote comes to mind. "I'm bad and that's good, I will never be good and that's not bad...there's no one I'd rather be...than me." ~ralph from wreck it ralph
To sacrifice the one you love so the people which you saved and family friend people you care about live.. Or To sacrifice the people town in order to live with your beloved one.. Very tough choice.. im sorry but love is stronger than sacrifice.. if chloe is gone who else is going to be with Max after chloe has gone.. she was the closest person who understood max on a personal scale.. and was there for her entire life.. I know this sound harsh to say but her family friends arent worth it. Parents will eventually pass away from old age and as for friends they will move on / away from you and go on with their own lives.. in the end you will practically end up alone but you saved them from that disaster.. Chloe went through so much hell throughout the game seeing her in that wheelchair and trying to make things better for her this whole game was trying to save chloe right from the beginning.. If i was in max position.. i would of gone with Sacrifice city and called it a natural disaster.. people always die in natural disasters.. and being with the one you care about the most is the most precious/rewarding thing.. I wish they did a "10 - 15 years later thing after each ending to see where Max would be" thats the only thing which annoyed me about this.. i wanted to know what was gonna happen to max years after these events happened if she went on with life or found a new boyfriend/girlfriend what she did with chloe maybe they went on vacation together like that sort of thing... it would of made the ending 100 times better in my opinion if the devs. added that last bit.
+DeadSilent Gaming I buy the "Sacrifice" Arcadia Bay ending. What I expect to see in 10~15 years after the disaster will be: Through this strange and terrible journey, Chloe and Max become closer even since (being homo or not is not my concern). Chloe become very successful. She is mature, wise, with care and love. Making great deal of peace to the world. Max become a famous photographer. However she is also dying from brain tumor, obviously it is the price of the rewind power. Max has no regret about her choice. She sees in the way that, the purpose of her life is watching Chloe's back and guide her into a better path. And accepts that, the power is a part of her destiny. As for Chloe, she realised that she is bearing the faith of Max, and in "debt" of the whole Arcadia Bay. She feels sour, yet she gains great courage to walk on.... Chloe is truly blessed!
+Marcus Taylor I think the deers also stand for the spirits of the dead people, it was kinda that way with Rachel. Also, I think they are all dead, yes.
FH damn fuck that made me think of something. You know the vision Max had at the lighthouse when she followed that deer? What if that deer represented chloe’s death, meaning the storm would come even if you let her die at the beginning
This is what I needed! :D Could not sacrifice Chloe and was sad, that I didn't got the kiss xD This should be the real ending... But we can always dream about what happened after they left Arcadia Bay ;3
this is the ending i as hoping for. that they'd kiss before max saves her. both endings were emotional, this is more emotional due to the feelings within it :)
This ending IS the best, at the First time i choose this ending and i really love Chloe and Max together and the obstacles song, listen at 432 hz and sounds amazing
Actually they could have easily handled this choice by having Max reveal to Chloe that she had already done what Chloe is asking her to do: she did go back and let her die, only to then come back in present time and find herself still there, next to the half-destroyed lighthouse, with the storm still raging but only no more Chloe (which would fit with Max's first vision of herself there, alone). At which point she realized that the damage was not because Chloe didn't die when (Chloe believes) was supposed to, but because Max had rewinded time at all (no matter whether or not she then changed something). Add to it, if you want some heart-tearing cutscene also in this ending, Chloe & Max finding Chloe's mother and Warren or some other friend dead and there you go: both ending bittersweet and none really feeling right or wrong: a true choice given to the players. That difficult?
This is just awsome and full of emotions :) I hate the programmers for not doing THIS way of the "sacrifice arcadia bay" ending, because I think the two just perfectly fit together. As someone else already said, this is this sweet-bitter way a game, as wonderfull as this should end, not just pure bitterness. One of my best friends sacrificed Chloe, and I wasn't happy about it, because it's just like this: Chloe is the videogame charakter I learnd to love the most in I think about every game I've ever played, there are just really few other I liked more. And after saving her over and over it just felt so completly wrong to let her die (and have a kiss), or to save her for ever and let the two just stay friends, this was just amazingly awsome, thank you so much :D
Never ever will i sacrifice chloe,i kinda fell in love with her i feel like shes just such a beautiful written character, all the stuff she had gone through and her tuff acting but really is such a loving person with so much emotions. She doesnt deserve to die,and she would die without knowing anything about max coming back or the time they had.She would just die living a sad life to the end.Cant get it over my heart
Sir, you are legendary. After a couple of days and nights of really not much besides playing this game, I finally finished it a few hours ago. This game has been so impactful for me, and I could go on about harrowingly beautiful yet crushingly sad it is, how intensely gripping and captivating it is, but I think we all know. Like most game endings, I wasn't all that in love with the (game) endings - I sacrificed Arcadia Bay for multiple reasons (feeling like killing Chloe now would be a waste and absolutely crush Max, afraid of sacrificing Chloe incase more time crap happened as a result of trying to revert time thus in a way changing it yet again, and believing that people would still survive the storm), and of course after sitting for the credits and reminiscing on the choices, I watched the Sacrifice Chloe ending, and I was right to feel Max be crushed - the pictures being replaced with Max alone tore me down, and then Max hearing Chloe actually die for the last time killed me
Those damn tears from Max (I have a big character crush on her). Argh. I knew Bae over Bay was what I would be happy with, but nonetheless felt that the ending was much more weakly constructed and poorly fleshed out (if at all amiright) than killing Chloe. But you sir, have given me an ending I can truly accept. You have delivered the swan song to the game that is easily a contender for my favourite game of all time, and I can't thank you enough for this (even if it is simple editing ;P). I truly appreciate this, thank you
Oh! And I just read the last journal entries - thank you for that also! I didn't know either you could access the journal in cutscenes But mannnnn, the journal entries even goes with this edited ending better than the other two
I refuse to believe the storm is Max's fault. She had visions before discovering her power. Not sure if I can beat this without crying. Seems sad either way
I only realized it when I played life is strange for the second time that the deer that you see when you find Reachels body is actually Rachel. I believe that she knew Max is special and she was trying to help her to find her body, to find out what happened to her and prove Cloe that she never left without her.
+Nick Beutler Like kate waking up and looking out a sunny hospital window unknowing of what just happened as you drive away. Also everyone in the diner surviving because they hid in the basement!
all this ending needs is max reading her last journal entry over this, then it cuts to max and chloe in a house together in la, where we see max writing in the journal with chloe beside her. That is all they needed to do to complete the story and give us closure.
Nice video, thanks for shooting me a link. I was going to make mine like this too but I felt like cutting up the clips for the song placement. Good use of the photo at the end. I guess my only other comment would be maybe have removed the subtitles, but that is more a stylistic thing.
+kmsumrall Thanks. The subtitles are important for non-native english speakers like me, which have a harder time understanding spoken english. It can also help if people can't hear what they are saying due to the music.
Bah, I ended up dropping this game a while back only to recently pick it up again. The feels. I know a lot of people would choose the "morally right" choice to sacrifice Chloe. But, put yourself in Max's position, and replace Chloe with someone you love to death, would you really be able to sacrifice them? I don't think I could. I read fanfic for alternate endings, I wish they made one where Max decides to intervene in the bathroom and ends up getting shot instead, but recovering in the hospital. She could also write a quick note to Chloe detailing what happened and what she needs to do before intervening. She wouldn't have used her powers in that timeline, thus no storm (if her powers are indeed what cause the tornado, which I feel must be the case). I think that would have been an awesome ending as well.
I sarcrificed Arcadia Bay for Chloe. Like Chloe said I'm not a Time Master, I'm Max Caulfield. I'm not here to do the right thing. I'm here to do what I would do. And Max said it herself. "I won't trade you."
Its the right decision to stay with Chloe because you just switch in another reality if you sacrifice Chloe. But that dosnt mean she dosnt exist in thies reality. So she is just alone in the front of the Storm cause Max was leaving her and she loses all the other too. But if you stay with her, she isnt alone. She has then Max with her. Its my opinion :)
***** Same its the only game that could make me cry. The most touching moment for me is the Ep5 ending, finding out Rachel's body in the junkyard, telling David that Chole was killed by Jefferson, trying to save William, listening to Nathan's final words and realize hes not that much of a douchebag.... This game is the best game for me lol
My fave moments were walking the rail tracks and going for a splish splash in the pool. With the Max & Chloe theme playing both were so quietly romantic. When they found Rachel I wanted to cry with Chloe, so sad. :(
I sacrificed Arcadia Bay because rewinding to fix everything is what we've been doing the whole game and what caused the storm itself, so doing it again will be a lot, especially losing the one person in the whole town who actually understands you. The tornado is the first time Max realizes she should've taken life as it is. And so since the tornado is the outcome, she needs to take life as it is. I'm just kidding that made no sense I simply sacrificed the town for Pricefield, I'm a terrible person : )
So hell yes, I chose to live in the reality in which Chloe also lives.
yess then I don't have to feel bad for killing everyone in acardia bay
I could not have said it better!
You just gave me one more reason to stick with this ending.
Not that i needed one, though.

+heartlessoni13 Someone finally voices my opinion about sacrificing the town is better than sacrificing Chloe.....
Yes it is what me and Chloe always wanted, is to be with each other!
heartlessoni13 I think all of us would choose to save the town. I mean, Chloe is the only one person and in Arcadia there’s so many people.
But this game told us by Chloe, that no matter what we’ll choose it’s gonna be right decision. This kind of situation can look easy now, but in real life I’m not sure If I wouldn’t kill myself.
A world without Chloe is not worth saving
This is exactly the kind of ending I wanted; Pricefield standing strong on the rubble of Arcadia Bay.

Remaster is around the corner. Maybe our wish may come true.

+ThatScruffyGuy Agreed
"Max, It's time..." "Not anymore". When I heard that, I knew I made the right choice (for myself). I fell in love with Chloe, and I really couldn't even think about a minute of Max without her. During the entire game I was supposed to save/leave someone, but I kinda knew I had to sacrifice my best friend/love in the end; Kate and Joyce apart, I felt like I was used and almost felt transparent to other people. Also, people hid in bunkers so casualties were at minimum. This game taught me that we cannot have happiness without something sad to back it up. Best game ever.
Nicely written.
besides.. the diner looked pretty much intact, so if it survived the storm so did Joyce, Warren Frank and of course Pompidou.. all important people on board! - I can live with that!
Yeah, most of them survived or else there'd be bodies everywhere. I always save Chole always.
This is the real ending the game deserved! Good job!
I like to think that people were safe in the bunkers that were built in the city. Everybody didn't really die in this ending :)
I seem to never get "the happy ending" in any game. same, that's exactly why I choosed to save chloe
But ironically the save Chloe ending doesn't give you a kissing scene, just them driving away, Chloe eerily at peace with her mom being dead after losing her dad had shattered her before.
I had the same thought when i saved chloe xD!
Senceinterpreter
Well that's how dontnod explained it on twitter.
+maggru91 The kiss before the choice would be fantastic because it would make the decision even harder for the player.
I was disappointed with those outcomes too.
But I honestly see it as a trick on your emotions/beliefs.
To quote Mitch Albom: "Sacrifice is a part of life. It's suppose to be. It's not something to regret. It's something to aspire to."
Choosing to sacrifice Chloe obviously pains Max.
Confirmed better ending.
Alyx33 yes this is the best ending

BLESS YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO MAKE THE ENDING WE FUCKING DESERVED, BLESS YOU FOR ALL THE YEARS THAT YOU LIVE!!
"Max Caulfield.. don't you forget about me.."
"Not anymore...."
Me: Wait huh?
Anyway this was beautiful!
+QuestionMark When she says "not anymore" it can mean 3 different things in this scene:
-Chloe says "Don't forget about me", and then Max says "not anymore" because she is gonna rip the photo and will not go back to let her die, thus never forgetting about her since they will not be apart.
+Francisco Ramos Ah. I get it now!
+Francisco Ramos Or what about the option where you help in Chloe's assisted suicide when she is paralyzed and dying?
She says "Max Caulfield don't you forget about me."
and Max says "never" before she dies... (EXACTLY like in the ending of polarized :( )
I found it so sad that scene had to happen twice
+Un Known I agree and i remembered that, but i don't think i could have made a good cut if i added the "never" :(
+Francisco Ramos You made the right choice leaving it.
+Sir Boast-a-lot You probably get to help restoring mother Earth.
+Francisco Ramos You sure chloe will not die again?
Should have been the ending. Going back in time is just max again not accepting the consequences of her actions.
+hurrdurr25 I so agree, going back just seems like a cop out to me
+hurrdurr25 Exactly!!!
+Jan-Erik Ella
Hearing that is what made me stop watching any videos to do with this series.
At least that way you can go "okay I have a week before she dies" instead of "yay I saved her time to have fun with my powers and my old friend."
Not to mention the entire game up to that point has only had you rewind by like a minute.
If shes so fucking important that saving her gives Max superpowers then no fucking way am I letting all those memories vanish.''
...... things like this is why I got into writing fanfiction.... time and time again Ive seen professionals drop the ball and fuck up their characters or their ending or the moral they try to teach.

Chloe was meant to die. Thats why death kept following her.
So..
I know I'm late to the party, having played LiS1 just now for the first time ever...
But I consider this the canon ending.
I like this ending better
Me too
despite how selfish this choice is and how many consequences it has.. i just wanted Chloe alive
+steph d No one can blame or judge you for that. :) It's human.
Francisco you have a wonderful soul, and are a wonderful person for making this.
+Keenan Williams Lol thanks
This... is the Greatest Love Story Ever Told
why the game doesn't have this ending? this is what we want :C
+Flying Nyan Just come back here after you get through the nightmare level :)
this is not a edited ending?
Yeah, i mean close the game and watch my edited ending as if you were about to finish your game :D
yes :c
+Charlie Bradbury i don't think i did but still no kiss with chloe
Or
To sacrifice the people town in order to live with your beloved one..
+DeadSilent Gaming
I buy the "Sacrifice" Arcadia Bay ending.
What I expect to see in 10~15 years after the disaster will be:
Through this strange and terrible journey, Chloe and Max become closer even since (being homo or not is not my concern).
Years & years & never get over this! Beautiful Sad!
THIS GAVE ME PEACE. FINALLY. THANK YOU. I NEEDED THIS
this should had been the sacrificed arcadia bay ending. >O
hey maybe all those people aren't even really dead or why all those deers? and i mean has a storm ever killed every single person in a town?
+jessiiworlds I loved the way the deers and birds were there, nature slowly reclaiming a town full of jerks and creeps.
+Marcus Taylor I think the deers also stand for the spirits of the dead people, it was kinda that way with Rachel.
Also, I think they are all dead, yes.
Yes
FH damn fuck that made me think of something. You know the vision Max had at the lighthouse when she followed that deer? What if that deer represented chloe’s death, meaning the storm would come even if you let her die at the beginning
Very well said very well said (clap clap)
Nicely done.
This is what I needed! :D Could not sacrifice Chloe and was sad, that I didn't got the kiss xD This should be the real ending... But we can always dream about what happened after they left Arcadia Bay ;3
+Shieru Kuro (RedRoseReason) They scissored.
+M Bartz Wowser, can you see my dreams? o: xD
Of Course I choose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay, save my Chloe
God damn it someone beat me to the punch to make this "Perfect" ending so Life is Strange. Wp good sir and thanks for beating me to the punch. :D
This ending is just perfect, and thanks also for the journal entries.
I wish this was the real ending...
And now We knew they still live together 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thank you for making this
Thank you for this video man. You improved the ending.
I was the best friend ever. Me and Chloe deserve to be together I would never sacrifice my number one priority.
BTW I think Max is Hot 😻😻🔥🔥
Damn right !
@@maxcaulfield8685 we all do
This is the most satisfying ending i have ever seen PRICEFIELD FOR LIFE
Thanks for the new phone background 😂
I've watched this like 50 times
This edit is the true good end
This is the best ending! thanks! :D
this is the ending i as hoping for. that they'd kiss before max saves her.
both endings were emotional, this is more emotional due to the feelings within it :)
Either you go to the left, and have nothing right, or you go to the right and have nothing left. Fits well with this story
+Kaze Mizu :D
so lovely!!! i knew the kiss would make it look better.
Thanks for the video
Never ever will i sacrifice chloe,i kinda fell in love with her i feel like shes just such a beautiful written character, all the stuff she had gone through and her tuff acting but really is such a loving person with so much emotions. She doesnt deserve to die,and she would die without knowing anything about max coming back or the time they had.She would just die living a sad life to the end.Cant get it over my heart
This scene will be incredible in the Remasters!!
I love Chloe and Max, best couple
Pricefield 4 Life. 🖤
I needed this! Thank you so much!!!
I wish there were more romance scene between Max and Chloe if we push for it enough in the game.
I’m literally crying at 3 am, this is the best game I’ve ever played in my entire life
Really good editing
+Gunnar123A Not much to edit ;)
This edit!! you are my hero!
AHHH Guess my "Ship" has Sailed 😂😂😂
This scene made me cry
The "Max, I'll always be with you.. Forever..." HITS ME EVERY FUCKING TIME FUCKK
I love you Pricefield
After life is strange 2 they need to make another game with max and Chloe.
Exactly
I didn't know either you could access the journal in cutscenes
But mannnnn, the journal entries even goes with this edited ending better than the other two
THE BEST ENDING EVER!!! YAY!!!
Wish this was the original ending omg
I refuse to believe the storm is Max's fault. She had visions before discovering her power. Not sure if I can beat this without crying. Seems sad either way
i needed this. thank you
Square Enix. Not only did they manage to fuck me up with Kingdom Hearts but they fucked me up with Life is Strange.
I view this less as killing a town, and more as accepting I was powerless to stop it.
I only realized it when I played life is strange for the second time that the deer that you see when you find Reachels body is actually Rachel. I believe that she knew Max is special and she was trying to help her to find her body, to find out what happened to her and prove Cloe that she never left without her.
This is the ending we deserved!!!!
The perfect ending for me would have been almost exactly like this, but with some affirmation that Kate survived.
+Nick Beutler Like kate waking up and looking out a sunny hospital window unknowing of what just happened as you drive away. Also everyone in the diner surviving because they hid in the basement!
+Wing X Custom that wouldn't be the case though, they die from the explosion you have to stop.
It doesn't look like the explosion hasn't taken place when we see the diner at the end. At least to me it doesn't
all this ending needs is max reading her last journal entry over this, then it cuts to max and chloe in a house together in la, where we see max writing in the journal with chloe beside her. That is all they needed to do to complete the story and give us closure.
Every tear in the fucking world.
Demitrium #marron4life
Demitrium My eyes are swollen.
Max: *passes out*
Chloe: Don't do that again!
Max: K
going through all these comments makes me feel so much better than I'm not the only one who said fuck the town pricefield must happen!!!
Love the idea to merge both endings. The kiss was pretty much what i wanted to see in mine too without her dying.
Damn! The reason why I adore this game is for knowing how powerful it Is, you know what I mean?I knew I wasn't the only one I love this game
AHH THE ENDING WE DESERVED :(
i never even considered saving Arcadia Bay lmao bye bae over bay xDD
Its the right decision to stay with Chloe because you just switch in another reality if you sacrifice Chloe. But that dosnt mean she dosnt exist in thies reality. So she is just alone in the front of the Storm cause Max was leaving her and she loses all the other too. But if you stay with her, she isnt alone. She has then Max with her. Its my opinion :)
exactly. That's what I thought. I would never leave chole if I were the Super Max lol
Oscar Ray yeah :) i love both.. they are so super sweet together :) and i cried so much in this game :O
