Jon Jones’ dominance is a perfect mix of physical gifts, elite skills, and a ruthless mentality. His insane reach lets him control the distance, while his creativity in striking and wrestling makes him unpredictable. Add in his fight IQ-he adapts to every opponent-and his killer instinct to finish fights at all costs, and you’ve got one of the most complete fighters ever. Love him or hate him, there’s no denying he’s a once-in-a-generation talent.

I don't understand why people are saying that all of these legends put their career on the line and "gave" Jones a chance to fight them. He was literally the champion of his division. He earned a fight against Shogun, and has been a champion since 2011. Rampage fought the CHAMPION of the division. Like it was never disputed who the best in that division was once Jones came to town.

He is building the storyline & payday for them both and making Aspinal & fans believe that he’s the boogeyman. Shogun, Machido, Cormier, Texeira, Vitor, Rampage, and Chael etc were all LESS than 5 years in the UFC before they had to face Jon Jones. The latter has been in the UFC for 16 years now and has been champion for 14 years. He has been competing at the elite level for far longer than any other big name, he has defended his title more times than any other big name and is now being goaded to fight a monster that was still in high-school and too young to drive or drink when Jon was already a champion, despite the fact that Jon had already announced his retirement LONG before Aspinall was even on the radar. The only way I could see him take the fight is if they gave him more money, and that’s precisely what’s happening now. He is publicly negotiating for a higher payday, and the UFC will be forced to reach into their pockets or risk losing one of the biggest fights on their roster.
If Aspinall loses, people will just dismiss him as a hype-train like they did Gane and start chanting Ngannou again lol, it will do nothing for Jones’ legacy because people have a vested interest in seeing him lose his zero. That’s what it is all about, it’s why they still can’t accept the outcomes of the Reyes and the 1st Gustafson fights, because they need to rationalise to themselves that he lost, because in their eyes he is undeserving of being undefeated and therefore there will always be another guy he should defeat before retirement, be it Walker, Ngannou, Stipe, Pavlovich and now Aspinall. Good for him that he is sticking to his original plan. I know the Aspinallettes are fuming 😅

Couple of things. 1. That rule has never existed, it’s something Sonnen made up. If Jones refuses to fight Aspinall, he will be stripped and Aspinall will be promoted to champion (like Whittaker was).
      2. Aspinall called out Gane loads in the past, Gane didn’t want to fight him. He’s interim champion now, and has defended it. Next fight is for the undisputed belt. Gane had fought for the belt, twice and lost both times because he can’t wrestle.

The single most important factor to his success is his ability to avoid the takedown. We have never seen anyone put Jon Jones on his back for any extended period. The second someone figures out how to do that is the second they win. It's that or be as tall or even taller than he is and beat him out with striking. Which is exactly how his two biggest challenges in Gustafsson the first time and Reyes found success.

Two HUGE points that these guys are also missing: 1) Reyes is not a great example of "how to beat Jones, by recklessly going for it". Bones barely trained for Reyes and 1st Gustafson fights (if at all). 2) It's not just Jones' arm reach that's ridiculous, his LEG reach is unmatched in MMA. I don't think anyone is even close. It's honestly, much scarier than his arm-reach. I believe Cormier or someone of the like even emphasized that as well.

TJ said it best, You can't fight a technical fight vs Jon he's to smart at that and is so incredibly good at sitting at a disatnce and picking you apart. Jon has a lot of trouble vs people who take that away from him, most figthers who have similar range give him a hard time. Tom is the real challenge to Jon because he has decent range, and he covers range so ridiculousyl well which would give Jon a terrible time, that fight would cement Jon as not just the best UFC figther, but most likely the best fighter to ever exist and nobody could ever argue that. I think he already is that but there are some naysayers out there and those people would have no choice but to agree, that Jon is the best and a super rare species.

1:20 Thats the problem with Jones and P4P rankings (other than Jones getting caught using steroids or losing to Reyes), P4P means if every fighters were same size who is more skilled, however Jones moved up 1 weight class and he still has an absurd range advantage like 84' reach vs Stipe's 80' reach, even Makhachev (70' reach) didn't have that size advantage vs Volk (71' reach) it doesn't make sense to assume Jones and his opponents are same size so it will always be difficult to say Jones is P4P great because no one has Jones's size advantage and no one has Jones's athletic ability.

@ true, I forgot about the retirement thing. If he came out of retirement for it though it wouldn’t be a terrible idea. Jon is right that the dude hasn’t earned the right to just call him out like that and expect a fight. Also Chael pointed out that the only way an interim belt exists is when there’s the absence of an undisputed belt. The second the bell rang for the jon and stipe fight Tom should have been stripped of his belt and he should now have to do some more things to earn the Jon fight.
