With the canbus connector, my D2B wakeup wire is connected to the car's turquoise wire. Then opposite end the other two are properly connected. However there's just no sound. My amp fuse is fine too. Great video. I was going to do it to my car based on Amir's video that you linked. Your video is even more detailed, particularly around the D2B wake up wire. Very helpful. Than you.
yes! that was a part i struggled with, so i figured i would make a video as clear as possible to help others!
Was very interested in this radio for my SL as it looks fresh and.fits perfect. Whats it like to use ? Smooth or any major glitches ? Great video.
It works incredibly well! Smooth like butter. So far the last couple months it works really well! My only complaint it when the tops down you can’t really see the screen from the glare
@@Haydenschreiermk2 first world problems if you have the roof down and the sun is annoying your screen. I think this is the way I'm going to go with mine. I really like the fit and the screen looks crisp in the video. I'm an Android user so I am really into the Android Auto part of this for maps and music.
Thanks!
Thank you! You’re welcome!
im going to try it on my slk. hopefully its similiar
this was an awesome video..i wish you lived in vegas Id pay you to install mine. I couldnt get my seicane unit to power up so being frustrated I reinstalled my stock unit and now I cant get sound from any of my speakers even though the command unit works. My aftermarket unit is either defective or I am not getting the power it needs. My whole weekend was ruined..I have a 2004 SL600 with the EXACT wires but seicane DID send me the correct adapter for the d2p wake up connection. I did everything right but no power on the new unit :( and now no sound from the old unit...
haha pay for my ticket or and ill come install it! from the sounds of it, it seems like there is still a break in your fiber optic loop or you damaged a fiber optic wire. since the head unit still works, then that should all be good. a good way to check is turn the volume up and unplug the fiber optic cable from the radio and you should here a loud click (almost like when you unplug an aux from a guitar speaker) from the Benz speakers if you here that than you know the loop is correct. if you dont then there is a break in the loop somewhere.
@@Haydenschreiermk2 I still need to know why my aftermarket unit never powered up as I cant return it. I just bought the car and the previous owner bought the aftermarket unit :(. I wonder if a stereo shop can trouble shoot why the head unit wont come on....Quick question. My D2b fiber optic unit came with a very long fiber optic wires. If I was to plug this wire directly from the stereo to the amp will that make the audio work or does it still have to go through the loop of the cd changer and tele system?
@@omarboswell6296 If you can run the fiber loop directly from the head unit to the amp, you should be good. I've also heard that the amps can fail, but I don't know an easy way to test that.
@@jasonmaxwell2883 I got it working. I had to bypass the voice module, phone, and cd changer to get it working again...these fiber optic systems are very sensitive.
Great video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
You have the personality to produce excellent content, I enjoyed your car rebuild series but you need to buy another project car and I think you will continue to grow your channel vs very specific video’s on a older
Model Mercedes . Surely 23rd garage can hook you up with something
I won’t lie to you, I had a blast building the VW. But financially speaking it’s not feasible to do something like that consistently or I’ll end up homeless. Realistically I may need to start with clean title project cars before spending that much on project cars
guys the quality of the sound did it changed from 2000 sound to the hd 😮
it sounds great
Going to order this and try it next weekend. Thanks!
let me know how it goes!
How did it go
Great tutorial. I may try it.
You should!
I bypassed addded after market amp but this video is excellent
yes the other method is to upgrade the amp itself. more money that way!
@HaydenSchreier I changed speakers and all. Def more 💰
what a great effort 😮
Thank you so much 😀
are you in Cali? and how much for you to help me out, respond or like the comment and we can exchange info. thank you this video helped a lot still not sure i could do it tho
im in florida, although i do plan on going to cali soon as im working on some other peoples cars! send me an email haydenschreier98@gmail.com
Great video
thank you!
@@Haydenschreiermk2 Hi again, I'm wondering if you can help me a little more. My can bus did not come with the plug for the two wires that you plugged into the plug that you made. I just have a couple of wires with nothing on the end. I expect those two wires go into pins 8 & 9 on the plug coming out of the car with the D2B wake up in pin 10 of the same plug. Would you know which wire position out of the can bus goes to pin 8 and which one goes to pin 9? In my can bus, the two wires are next to the yellow battery wire and the other is next to the black ground. If you could just say the one next to the yellow goes into pin 9 in the corner or vice versa, it would be a huge help. Otherwise, I will jut try it one way and hope I don''t blow a fuse. Thanks.
@@jasonmaxwell2883 its hard to follow over writing. you can email me some photos
Thank you, I now know not to buy😮 a seicane product. Never buy from a company that does not support its customers
They barely speak of word of English. So throw that into the mix. I’m sure they like to help but because of the sound barrier it’s bad.
Don't you maybe want to sell the factory radio?
you want it?
@@Haydenschreiermk2 mine is japanese and has some issues with working with cd changer. Actually you can only play cd from head unit and nothing else. Can I hit you up on IG or smthn?
Nice car
Thank you!
Great video. But, I highly encourage anybody considering this product NOT to buy it. I purchased one, installed it, I get sound but I also get a "popping" sound when the unit heats up. It "pops" all sound cuts out for a few seconds and then it comes back on. The popping even happens with the unit off. Customer service was worse than horrible and they continued to discourage a return claiming it may takes months, get confiscated by customs, etc. DO NOT BUY.
Did you connect the fan?
you talk tooooo muuuucccchhhh!
So mute the video!!!!!!!!!
Great Job
thank you
Why don’t they make one for 2005 and up
im sure they do! even better is i think those models 2005 and up dont use fiber optic lines anymore which is way better
@HaydenSchreier I've heard the 2005 and up have worse sound quality. Side question: how is the microphone sound quality for people you are talking to?
@@jasondejoy4994 no problems here with microphone you can either use the seicane unit microphone or add the aftermarket microphone that it comes with and mount it somewhere
@HaydenSchreier is there an option to use the factory microphone?
@@jasondejoy4994 im not sure where the factory microphone is. if its in the orginal radio than that comes out with the radio lol
