This incredible performer is Joe Wesson. He is an Orlando theme park legend. He went on to perform street theater at the Disney/MGM Studios from 1989-2015. His character was Frederick Lewinowski of the Hollywood Public Works. He can be seen each summer at the Sterling Ren Faire in upstate New York. Joe is still living in Orlando and performs regularly in the parks and beyond. This is a real gem! Thank you for posting it.
@@thehapevillechannel I understand, people do that to protect themselves and their privacy and they don't like a lot of publicity. Wherever Joe is right now, I hope he's doing well.
The mimes in San Diego in the '80s and '90s were fantastic. When we had year passes we would go to the Seal and Otter show so often and the mime was the best part. Last couple times that we've gotten a yearly pass we never made it to the show but now I wish we had.
I never knew about any of this until my son showed me some of the videos and have just shared this one to Facebook. Tears were streaming down my face with laughing within seconds. Whoever thought of this as a warm-up introduction to Sea World is a genius.
I've just had a thought after watching this for around the 9th or 10th time, those who arrived later so have seen less of the mime than those who arrived at the beginning or early on have missed so much. My eldest who introduced me to these videos was born late July 1988 .
I got to go to Sea World once as a kid back in 1988. It was great! This makes me remember just how different American society was back then. Between Disney World and any other tourist destination I can remember life seemed much more wholesome and family friendly. I miss it!
Best one i have watched. Beats out the modern ones by a mile and super kudos to whomever was doing an awesome job of handling what was probably a behemoth of a video camera. . Those things were heavy as heck.
Thank you! I recorded that (of many shows) with at that time was considered portable and carried the full size vhs tape recorder on a shoulder bag and the camera was still large but not like the full sized contained ones of the time. I used to ski water ski shows and once you know the flow and what to watch for, panning the camera to follow to action one eye on and one scanning. Glad you enjoyed it! He was one of the best!
I guess I might have seen the very same performer - also in Sea World, back in January 1984! I was 9 and after almost 40 years the memories are still vivid. One of the pranks I recall was when he hindered someone for accessing the bleachers from one side. Right after he indicated that he or she needed to walk around the bleachers in order to access it. The audiance would explode with laughter!! 😁Cheers from Brazil and thank you so much for posting!
He would be in jail for that kiss today when it’s just a prank who cares. They all took that as it was back then, a prank. But today, no way would anyone try that move anymore

Oh I thought this was Lynn when he was younger !!
@@rottab9397 Trust me it was a much better time back in the 80's.
I tried looking him up I can't seem to find him.
@@tamrinto Yes. That makes sense. Joe is a private person. He keeps himself on the down low and works regularly.

You were just a child seeing the world through a child's sheltered eyes. Also, this exact show is still performed to this day.
Only in the days when it was ok to laugh at yourself....

People laughed more back then :)
And they weren't so offended!
There might just be more people back then
This is awesome. A time when people didn’t have cell phones and interrupted the act every 20 seconds for a selfie.

とても、おもしろいです。ありがとう。
I miss these days, when cell phone jokes couldn’t exist.
Most differently a 80's camera :) Notice how thin everyone was? watch Jim the mime today in Orlando damn near everyone is obese!
Obese crippled , disabled
Most of the people in the 80s are in top shape
