    Been meaning to learn how to do this. Mostly work with Ethernet cables, but you never know when you’re gonna need a new (or old) skill. Thanks, folks!
    Would’ve been more helpful if you also showed stripping the cable, but I guess it’s not too complicated. The result that you showed gives some clues.

      Hey Willie. You are welcome. We have made the old...new...again! Here is a video on how to use our Cable Cutting and Stripping tool: th-cam.com/video/54xRyQFGeU8/w-d-xo.html. Please let us know if you still have questions!

    Is there anything wrong with brushing the braid back with a small stainless steel brush? Velcro doesn't last very long.

      Hello Mark. No, not wrong per se. That said, be careful that the metal brush does not snap off and remove the braid shielding in the brush-back process. The braid shield is simply thin aluminum, so proceed with care.

      @trueCABLE Thanks.
      I prepped an RG6 quad cable in the normal way. The brush I use is like a toothbrush only with stainless steel bristles. I held the cable over a new all white paper plate and brushed the braid many more times than would be done to prep a terminal for installation. Zero damaged braid wires showed up on the plate. Braid was perfectly straight, and one could almost say soft. I carry two such brushes in my tool bag. One is labeled, Braid only. The other is for surface cleaning. Velcro was only good for about 70 terminal prep jobs.

    I tried installing an Ideal Universal RG-6 compression connector (part #92-651 onto Tappan RG-6Q using the techniques from several videos and I could not get the results you got. Cutting back to expose 1/4 inch of the dielectric isn't enough. I couldn't get the connector onto regular RG-6 either no matter how much force I use - this is prior to compression. These compression connectors are expensive and I end up wasting them.

      Hello! We know the feeling. The reason has to do with fitment of the connector onto the cable, plus the traditional sleeve style compression connectors require a great deal of force and flaring of the cable, which does not always work out. This shows up most often on quad shield coaxial. Basically, we recommend you pick up some of our F connectors at trueCABLE (www.truecable.com/products/rg6-compression-f-connectors) because they care much less about fitment and don't require you to flare the coaxial cable jacket. What I demonstrated in the video was the trueCABLE brand, which are specifically designed to be super easy to work with on quad shield coaxial. You can use them with any standard compression tool. Give them a try!

    Five minutes of ads to get to the actual process of installing! Zero discussion on preparing the cable. What a waste of time.

      Hello Gerry! We are sorry you did not find the content helpful. We did get a bit excited about our F connector, so we had a long lead-in before the actual process of putting the F Connector on. Right at 5:22 in the video there is a pop-up that indicates to "See Below" in the video description for the link to a written blog with detailed cable preparation instructions. I agree that the video should include cable preparation as well. We will add this to our list to reshoot in the future. Thank you for your feedback!
