i love how the old school legendary players shows a lot of respect to each other, it's admirable because back in the day they were big rivals and in several occasions they were the protagonist of big clashes. putting the rivality aside, fabregas its a fantastic player!

@@marleyans6454 Cesc was earmarked as Xavi's replacement. However he didnt suit the Barcelona style as he'd become too dynamic and vertical ala Gerrard instead of a controller like Xaviesta. Those were sentiments Xavi shared.
I love the guy and was really sad he didnt come to United but that's the truth of it. In the same way xavi + iniesta would jot have dominated the way they did playing fir another team thet didnt share Pep's philosophy

Thiago from Bayern was still at Barca as well, and Mascherano also played in midfield sometimes. It was an insane midfield but I feel because of that the attack and defense suffered.

Only thing that makes Silva look great is cuz he joined a stacked City team while Cesc played for Arsenal on like 2 good years before the best players/core got sold off and he had a bunch of average players left.

We could see now the reason for Mourinho's struggling while Pep succeeds almost everywhere he goes. Mourinho's main strength isn't found everywhere (motivation and mental games), which requires specific players with specific characteristics (like Ramos or Diego Costa), while Pep's tactical meticulousness CAN be found easily as long as there's money to bring in smart players.

I'm glad I came back and watched this one. I watch Rios's podcasts every week with Joel and Steve. EVERYTIME I watch an episode I always find out something so important in how a footballer plays/thinks about in a game that I wish I knew when I played(not that it would've have made much difference haha). Today the part about how a creative centre mid thinks before, during and after they receive the ball on the half turn. All your podcasts Rio are definitely helping young kids get better if they are willing to listen. If/when I have a son I will make sure he knows all this if he loves football like me! Thank you!
