It would kind of make sense for Grove zero to be one of Vegapunks labs, Grove 0 is directly bordering the Marine Base (which means its right next to the marine hq) with the lawless zones, and directly next to the auction house in grove 1, and humans for human experiments need to come from SOMEWHERE.

I would say that he burst the man's bubble and as for what came next, they did rather well considering. I can't really criticize them for having difficulty given the nature of their opponents and the situation that they were in. Besides, ultimately from that defeat came the opportunity to grow stronger which I suppose was worth them being separated.
