  • There's a new Powerwax that's slightly different from the previous Powerwax and I was curious how different it was. That's what led to making collage papers with stencils and Powerwax. Mixing Powerwax with paint allowed me to do things that I couldn't do with just paint. acolorfuljourn...

    Thank you so much for sharing your "play" with the newly formulated Powerwax. We are excited to see all the cool and interesting techniques you used in this video (as well as the previous one) and we can't wait to see what you do next. PS. We are swooning over the technique using the stencil UNDER your tissue paper with the Powerwax.

    Great update, thanks. Love your work and the way you teach. I still have some of the old version because it dries with a satin sheen. I’ll definitely be ordering this new version because of the matte finish. I hope powertex offers both sheens. Showing the use on tissue paper is genius !

    I had never heard of this medium before and it looks like an amazing medium!! Thanks so much for demonstrating this😊

      I'm smitten with the ability to carve/scratch into it. Especially since you can come back and do that anytime as opposed to only paint where you have to do it while it's wet.

    Carolyn, I've been waiting for this very video! I ordered the original version from your first play, and wanted to ask, can you premix colors and/or store the excess, if you mix too much? Can't wait to finally start to play with this product, and with the inspiration from today's play!

    I love this! Great tips too! I'm curious about how it feels when it's dry; does it feel oily at all? Thanks! ~Velvet

      It feels like actual wax when it is completely dry. Reminds me a lot of what encaustic art feels like.

    What’s the main advantage of wax vs acrylic medium, for instance?

    Have you used this product with deli paper? If so, do you get the same effects in terms of transparency, look, and feel? Or have you found that it doesn't work well with deli paper?

    • @CarolynDube
      @CarolynDube  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I haven't used it with deli paper but I would think it would work just fine. How transparent it would be will depend on the brand or thickness of the deli paper- some are very translucent and others not so much.

    • @MicheleEngel
      @MicheleEngel 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@CarolynDube That was my thought, too, about the variance in translucence. I have tried several brands to find the "right" stuff. I'll try using that as well as the tissue paper. Thank you for the great demo!

    How does the power wax affect drying time of the paint?

    • @CarolynDube
      @CarolynDube  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It takes longer to dry than paint alone. Exactly how long? Depends on a lot of factors like how much you use and how humid or arid your climate is.
