- VW key fob remote doesn’t lock or unlock doors?
Save the trip to dealership, if your key fob remote is not locking or unlocking your doors. Re-program it! Especially if you just replaced the key fob battery or had car battery disconnected.

So the unlock button on my key fob is defective (all other buttons work). I can still turn my car on like normally with it. If I were to buy a new key fob, would the technique in the video allow me to use a new key fob if I put the old key inside the new fob?

You have to replace the tumbler if the key doesn't open the doors or try some spray oil in the key slot.
Did work. Battery is new. Any guesses.

@Motorcarnut Didn't work. Was having problems before. It would only lock all doors and unlock the trunk, only. Now, it does nothing. The emergency key will lock and set the alarm but will not disarm the alarm when I turn the key counter clockwise.
If my secondary key doesn't actually unlock the car because its a spare what do i do mext

If I buy a new key shell with the board, and carry over the transponder and blade from old key, will this work to program the new board?
I.e the transponder and blade are original to the car, but new plastic shell and circuit board

@@motorcarnut thanks mate. What I ended up doing instead was fixing my board by soldering the broken lock button back on, and then carrying the board and transponder into a new shell that I got for €10 on Amazon

If a reprogram doesn't work and can be the remote button itself that is worn out.

Probably has a security key issue. Should be codes if you do, if not auto locksmith or dealer

@@motorcarnut how do I get it cut? Or do I need a new lock and blade? I basically can't lock my car or get into it when the remote un-syncs. I can't get the car to remember the fob without a key blade?

My key’s buttons don’t work at all but the little red light comes on when I press the buttons (because of my replaced battery), but my manual key is chipped at the end and won’t allow the key to insert into the door. Any suggestions?? I haven’t been able to lock my car for over a week! 😭🙏🏼
If the programming in the video doesn’t help you need a new remote or locksmith.
