Has anyone with Martin Logan bookshelf’s compared their speakers to the Emotivas? They have the AMT tweeters in common. Very curious to how they compare.
Been on a waiting list for these because every time I checked on the XB2's they were out of stock. I got an email notification yesterday that they were now available, and I immediately place my order. Surprise! They are on sale for $399! Can't wait for them. In the Emotiva order survey I gave this channel credit for turning me on to these speakers. Thanks Randy. I'll be running these through a Yamaha CR 800 receiver that I bought new 50 years ago in 1974. I'll let you know how they sound.
I really wished they would have kept the angles of the B2+'s front cabinet that helps with how the tweeter images out and around the speakers into the room.
Hard no to the angles from me. The prior speakers looked like they belonged in a teenagers gaming room. Zero wife acceptance factor. The angles are the reason I have yet to own an Emotiva speaker to date. That’s about to change!
@@JonMoralesLA I agree! I did not care for the appearance of the older models and it’s pretty much what kept me from purchasing them. They looked like a speaker Darth Vader would own not something that would belong in a modern home.
The irony of audiophiles complaining about looks but I have to agree. I'm looking at them right now and they look like they belong in my 90's middle school bedroom lol. Only reason I bought them was because they were a sale price I couldn't pass up. Emotiva had to change the design, it cost them a lot in sales.
An acoustic advantage (lower diffraction) can be had with the angled baffle, but only within a very narrow frequency span (near the xover where the wavelengths are larger and the dispersion is wider from the tweeter). At typical xover frequencies, that influential baffle edge will be the first edge only, as the radiation at such frequencies are line-of-sight only. That's because the wavelengths of sound are shorter than the baffle size. Variable distance of the first edge from the tweeter certainly helps to reduce the diffraction effect near the xover point. Only at bass frequencies does the sound radiation "bend" around the entire enclosure and become omni as the wavelengths of sound are greater than the dimensional sizes of the enclosure.
I doubt a bookshelf speaker would do that, but I did see a video of a guy that had two (yes two) 33" subwoofers on his HOME system (Yes, ludicrous, I know). He was playing Jurassic Park through it and with every bass note, the video camera was shaking! If something is going to evoke "the brown note" and lead to crapping one self, it would be that. Personally, I think the guy is insane for putting a system that you would put in a theater in his home, but perhaps he wants to make his ear doctor rich. Not that there is much a doctor could do for permanent hearing damage. But, each to his own. It still never ceases to amaze me at how much people with money tend to waste it.
The first thing I noticed with my XT2s is how silky the tweeter sounds without losing detail. I've had them now for a little while and I am satisfied. I will soon decide what to do with my B2+s. I still use them, but not as much as I used to.
It’s hilarious that you said almost pooping my pants is the best compliment for a speaker. I can’t argue with that. I love Emotiva stuff but never bought the speakers because of looks. These xb2s look normal and with great sound! I’m in.
Nothing better then loving your job and even thinking bout your job when your not at your job. Reviewing speakers and audio would be awesome. Congrats Randy at working hard doing your thing. I watch you and Andrew Robinson and that's it. 😊 Nice emotivas btw. 😊 Keep it coming 😊
hey randy awesome video. im considering this speaker thanks for helping inform my decision. I think your videos are a little quiet though. I usually listen to stuff at around 50% volume but with your videos i need to turn it up to 80.
Thanks for the low down on this new redesign speaker and I'm glad nothing ran down your leg in the making of this video! Better clarity and better midrange is a plus for us old timers whose internal loudness button is now inop. A little less in the bass end is no big loss, since subs can do the low diving as needed. Kinda glad to see the Tesla pickup truck front baffle design go away (before the actual truck eventually does). I've never had a ribbon tweeter speaker. This seems like it may be worth a go to try out.
I just saw one yesterday, I know they’re technically awesome but I can’t believe it looks like that on purpose, I’d still drive one just to be different tho.
I bought my emotiva p2 because of your reviews, then bought the gashelli labs 4499 dac also due to your reviews. So i have to thank you for what you do. I actually have a pair of xb2's out for delivery today, i can't wait.
Thanks, Randy for your content on the Emotiva Airmotiv XB2 Speaker you make them sound Awesome! They're out of Stock. Also on SVS SB-1000 Subwoofer. It was real Basey at low volume, plus as I was turning it up. It fell off about 50db with my set up. So I returned it for the RSL Speedwoofer 10S MKII, just in my opinion I was just a lot happier with the RSL's.
It was your review and introduction to the Emotiva B1+ and TA1 amp that restarted my latest 'audiiphile' journey, opened my ears, and filled my soul with musical happiness again. You also graciously befriended me through your wonderful community of incredible people and for the first time I experienced some of what others have spoken about, but I thought were just unicorn farts in pompous snobbery. But once again, I digress, and just want to thank you for this review and your time taken to share this with us all. Have a wonderful weekend, Sir, and all the best.
About the dog? Or being a TH-camr? I'm going to assume both. A big Alsatian / German Shepherd? - so cool to see beyond your cave. Props for your daughter's cameo too. On repeat. Keep up the good work!
Randy - I love Emotiva speakers as well. I’m sure you’ve heard them but, if you love that sound, you should spin out a review of Martin Logan XT B-100 s. I own a pair of 60 XTI s and I love them. They sound like an Emotiva’s big brother. The AMTs on the Martins have a very similar signature to the ribbons in the Emotivas. Love your channel.
Great review. Tasty speakers. Price is out there. Xb2 is $866 on emotiva site and some wacker has them for over 3k on Aussie eBay site. Puts them on the wish rather than impulse list! The emotiva price may be due to geolocation that converts to A$ though Rob
That's the best way to try out speakers...by comparing them with others. I even do this with movies, change the speaker one or two times during and you'll learn a lot
Very nice video on these speakers. I have to listen to them. I think the reason everyone is pooping is all the coffee we are grabbing before we watch the video's.
Randy, Thanks so much for what you do. You are my first go to for audio research. I’m at the beginning of my journey. That Advance Paris A10 ..(BRRRRRRTTTT….because Warthog) looks like it may become my first component, with likely the KLH 5’s, but I may go with your 250 buck alternative for now and get the speakers first. Great content. So, a question from an old crayon eatin Marine, is that a Chief’s cover up on the shelf behind you or an Officer’s cover?
Love your content and bought an entire 7.1.4 emotiva rsl sub system based off of the educational videos you make and love it! Now im thinking of a pc setup!! Rsl speakers paired with that loxjie, havent decided on a sub yet but maybe a svs is in my future.
How do these compare to Klipsch 600mii? I have the 600s and feel like there is too much bass for the room. Was thinking about going with the 500m but now thinking about these emotiva’s.
Its a matter of taste. The XB2 are flat response and just missing something compared to the DBR62. I eventually landed at the DFR52, but I've owned the DBR62's twice. I miss them and I still think that I might go back to DBR62 over the towers. I suspect I might build a CSS kit over the winter and see how that goes first.
hi cheapaud i been watchin for like ever imma a fan. you gotta get w/ mary spender she did a vid dedicated to "fast car" as perfect tune. you know sound shes a darn good musician you two would surely click find a mutual project something like that. you both should listen to "mountains of things". ty audioman you have really helped me clarify stuff over the yrs:)
Ive been waiting for Kanto to make TUK passives but Ill go for these when they come out instead sometime this month (July 2024). Biggest selling point for me is the rotatable ribbon tweeter.
Randy, thanks much for the nice review of the new bookshelf's. I agree with other's as I liked the old shape, been boxes for too long. Will keep an eye out with the hope that you'll review one of their new tower speaker's. Take Care Now
Can you please review Paradigm's Premier 200B &100B. Thanks for all the great reviews I'm super happy with my MR1 I got after watching your review on it.
Just bought the q acoustics 3020i’s and am still within the return policy. Wondering if I should swap them. Thoughts on how these compare to the 3020i’s?
Some things, as they age, such as a woofer...loosens up. At some point, it becomes difficult to hold back distortion. It comes through and muddies things up.
Ha! Nice review, and the old clips are always great to see. Those emotiva people and their products are definitely worth every penny, after axpona last year we got my son the t-zeros and they gave us a similar pant related experience. I just wish they were as pretty as Q acoustics or offered them in other colors, dark green, with matching grills, cmon!!!
AXA35 - i have one. I A/B'd to death that receiver and a 1976 Rotel RX102 Mkii - and honestly - could not tell a difference thru Jamo 807s, Jamo C93s using a Fluance RT82 and Arcam Alpha 9 cd. so ... i guess both receivers are just brilliant ??? i initially thought, wait, my cheap 80 dollar rotel sounds the same as my 350 dollar cambridge ? is that good or bad ? i guess they sound good, i was really expecting the AXA35 to blow the rotel away, but didnt. i do however get more umph to drive Hales Transcendence one bookshelfs and have more inputs without needing a switch box. Randy, if i wanted to upgrade the AXA35 to an equally warm but more refined detailed amp and stay under 500 due to the fact i need to still buy groceries, whats a good choice. i may forgo eating to get those emotivas.
hey Randy, do you think this would work as a desktop speaker? or just stick with B1+ in this case? Also, how is the low volume performance? When, you know, listening at wee hours.

I've had the XB2's on my desk for 6 days now. They sound so damn good to me. Best $519 I've spent on audio equipment so far.
Great to hear.
Hopefully they don't raise the price after being Temporarily Available
Holy crap, Batman, Randy has stepped up his production game big-time. Educational and entertaining.
the other guy didn't like it. but I have a lot of fun making them
No way it’s been 3.5 years already !! Started watching the channel when Ron recommended it! Glad I have for sure!
Has anyone with Martin Logan bookshelf’s compared their speakers to the Emotivas? They have the AMT tweeters in common. Very curious to how they compare.
Randy- keep bringing the cheap content. Many of us can’t afford the expensive stuff and it just makes us feel like poop. 😊
Been on a waiting list for these because every time I checked on the XB2's they were out of stock. The angles on the older model are very important in controlling diffraction. The new model has changed, but physics hasn’t.

Still loving your videos man! So glad you are keeping up and the content is great as always.
This is me hoping that Emotiva releases a limited “The Brown Pants” edition
The Burr-Brown Note Edition
😂
I doubt a bookshelf speaker would do that, but I did see a video of a guy that had two (yes two) 33" subwoofers on his HOME system (Yes, ludicrous, I know). Just bought a pair. AMAZING !
So did I . My 2nd day listening and they are keepers.
Thanks!
wow! thank you so much for supporting the channel!

I think your videos are a little quiet though. I usually listen to stuff at around 50% volume but with your videos i need to turn it up to 80.
I don’t watch your reviews for the HiFi info….it’s the interior design and home decorating tips that make these videos special.
Thanks for the low down on this new redesign speaker and I'm glad nothing ran down your leg in the making of this video! I want a cyber truck so badly...
I just saw one yesterday, I know they’re technically awesome but I can’t believe it looks like that on purpose, I’d still drive one just to be different tho.
Cambridge Delorean edition amp? Neat!!! I've been drooling over the pics
I bought my emotiva p2 because of your reviews, then bought the gashelli labs 4499 dac also due to your reviews. So i have to thank you for what you do. I actually have a pair of xb2's out for delivery today, i can't wait.
Nice!!!
b2s are my current speakers and i love them. these look cool but i actually liked the sharp edges look of the old one.
Almost kinda teasing a Saturday Speaker Shootout. Love the B1+ review callback.
so much fun to go back and see those again
Emotiva fan for life here…love their stuff
Thanks, Randy for your content on the Emotiva Airmotiv XB2 Speaker you make them sound Awesome! They're out of Stock.

thanks, brother!
Love your dog One key to being a TH-camr that everyone comes back to is a great personality and you have it.
thanks! my wife would probably disagree with you though
About the dog? Or being a TH-camr? I'm going to assume both. A big Alsatian / German Shepherd? - so cool to see beyond your cave. Props for your daughter's cameo too. On repeat. Keep up the good work!
How do these compare to the Polk R200?
That’s a good question…..
Probably comes down to the tweeters if all else is close to equal.
Now my system is 2/3 Emotiva, B1 speakers and A100 as an amp with my vintage Marantz as the pre-amp and the sound has improved a lot.

Love the entrepreneurialism in this story!
Yep, I love AMT thin film tweeters.... GoldenEar BRX (40hz -35 Khz, 90db sensitivity)
Apple Music
That's the best way to try out speakers...by comparing them with others. I even do this with movies, change the speaker one or two times during and you'll learn a lot
Love that backstory!
This looked like a fun one to make!
really appreciate the restraint on the meme impositions in this one!
Liking the current video format. Enjoyable to witness you channel grow.
thanks! I've been having a ton of fun
So what you're saying is it's a good time to look for some used B2+'s?
Very nice video on these speakers. I have to listen to them. I think the reason everyone is pooping is all the coffee we are grabbing before we watch the video's.
Time to get Audiophile HiRes Diapers.😂😂
These Emotivas are a dead ringer of the active Adam A7Vs near field monitors. You should audition these if you ever get the chance.
Forget about speakers, let's get this man some _Depends_ shipped out! And no Cheap Audio Man listening parties... : )
Just went to their site and these aren't available 😢. I was about to nab a pair and send back my klipsch
Randy, too much coffee will make you poop your pants.
It's the daily grind ... lovin' it!! 😂
LMFAO!
You say that like it’s a bad thing. 😅
Yes, he should review coffeemakers and Starbucks!!!
Love the content. These are definitely top pic for my next speakers. Thanks
Looks like a good stand mount loudspeaker. Enjoyed your review. Well done.
Emotiva pumping out that brown note.
How are these around a foot from the front wall ? Thanks
Love your content and bought an entire 7.1.4 emotiva rsl sub system based off of the educational videos you make and love it! Now im thinking of a pc setup!! Rsl speakers paired with that loxjie, havent decided on a sub yet but maybe a svs is in my future.
So these need a pre amp to play along with av receiver, i have denon avr 2400x
Bought my b1+ from your review years ago now.👍
These look like a great little speaker for the $$$. Nice reveiw Randy.
Which speakers sound the best playing the "justice for all" album from metallica. Looking for some super guitar chug crunchyness
How do these compare to Klipsch 600mii? I have the 600s and feel like there is too much bass for the room. Was thinking about going with the 500m but now thinking about these emotiva’s.
Good to hear there are still good people out there
You've been a big backer of ELAC over the years. How do these sound in comparison to the Debut Reference for instance?
Its a matter of taste. The XB2 are flat response and just missing something compared to the DBR62. I eventually landed at the DFR52, but I've owned the DBR62's twice. I miss them and I still think that I might go back to DBR62 over the towers. I suspect I might build a CSS kit over the winter and see how that goes first.
Great vid. Background music just a tiny bit loud. Just a smidge. You’ve come along way from the early days, smooth like buttah now
New to the channel, thank you. To you and others, would these be a huge upgrade to my Pioneer SP-BS22-LRs?
Better than klipsch rp600m II ? I have a denon pma-600ne amp, suppose that amp would drive these well?
hi cheapaud i been watchin for like ever imma a fan. you gotta get w/ mary spender she did a vid dedicated to "fast car" as perfect tune. you know sound shes a darn good musician you two would surely click find a mutual project something like that. you both should listen to "mountains of things". ty audioman you have really helped me clarify stuff over the yrs:)
Love your reviews - tell it like it is without the geek stats. Well played.
How would you compare this to the Elac Carinas?? Seem very similar on paper
Ive been waiting for Kanto to make TUK passives but Ill go for these when they come out instead sometime this month (July 2024). Biggest selling point for me is the rotatable ribbon tweeter.
How does this compare to the RSL CG3M you reviewed before. All I care about is dialogue clarity for a 3.1 system
Randy, thanks much for the nice review of the new bookshelf's. I agree with other's as I liked the old shape, been boxes for too long. Will keep an eye out with the hope that you'll review one of their new tower speaker's. Take Care Now
It should be soon as he received the XT1's and another speaker at the same time as the XB2's....the UPS or FedEX guy left them near his garage :)
Can you please review Paradigm's Premier 200B &100B. Thanks for all the great reviews I'm super happy with my MR1 I got after watching your review on it.
I like the looks of the old ones... Look like they were inspired by the stealth fighter.
I have a wall of emotiva speakers and love them.
Combination oc C2 T2 and B2 for 9.4.3
Can we have sound demos please? It would be great to hear the sound!!!!
Just bought the q acoustics 3020i’s and am still within the return policy. Wondering if I should swap them. Thoughts on how these compare to the 3020i’s?
Love your dog!
I bought my Emotiva Pre and power amps because of you. My son bought the speakers. It paid off
so awesome to hear. thanks so much for watching
Im on the fence between this speaker and the kef 350s while on sale for 100% movie usage.
They both do midrange really well. Personally I’d go with this one but the 350 is super solid too
My B1+ don't grab me in the desktop near field like my ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52, but I may have to do some more experimentation.
Some things, as they age, such as a woofer...loosens up. At some point, it becomes difficult to hold back distortion.
It comes through and muddies things up.
Nice speaker😊👍
Ha! Nice review, and the old clips are always great to see. Those emotiva people and their products are definitely worth every penny, after axpona last year we got my son the t-zeros and they gave us a similar pant related experience. Kudos to Nick.
Squishmellows sound treatments , love it 😂
very good absorption
hey Randy, do you think this would work as a desktop speaker? or just stick with B1+ in this case? Also, how is the low volume performance? When, you know, listening at wee hours.
Sith audio adult diapers. When audio is so good you Schiit your pants...😂
Exactly
You're giving me gear acquisition syndrome. Ready for a complete re-vamp of my system
When are we getting the review on the mystery amp @ 4:45?
Ya got a direct link to Nick's channel? Thanks
I wonder, what if these were paired with Wiim Pro streamer, Gshelli Labs DAC+sparkOS opamps, and Topping LA90d amp?
Hey, Randy. Yes, I can confirm that excessive coffee drinking ( as well as too much chocolate) will cause the "pooping of the pants". Ask me how I know this...😊
BTW, Randy...from this day hence, anytime you refer to " cabinet resonance(?)" , you MUST do the little hand n sound jig! 😅😊❤
deal
I’d buy them but impossible from the UK, the one UK distributor only does Emotiva amps.
Randy, did you happen to hook up the XB2s to the PT1/A2 combo?
What about them would make people prefer these to others costing 3 times more besides price?
Very nice review 👍 I hope they send you more speakers to review.
They already did. They sent him a pair of XT1 towers and I think another pair of speakers or maybe it was one of their CC's.
Ya really pumped for these speakers👍 - 👍
Whole new meaning to brown noise 😂
Currently using t0+ for music and HT. Would this be a step up or a lateral move?
"the highest compliment a speaker can get" pants
86db sensitivity with 4ohms is 83db per watt and 50w maximum. NHT SuperOne is unbeatable.
Hi! thanks dor doing your videos. I was wondering what your favorite outdoor and most affordable speaker is?
I wish you could review some tonwinner amps. Seems like they make emotiva stuff.
How do they compare to Goldenear’s Aon series?
Great video! One of your best.
Wow, thanks!
