I really enjoyed parts of this video-this is exactly what I appreciate about this channel. Showcasing a new release of an affordable Hi-Fi product, covering the basic frequency response specs, along with thoughtful commentary on its design and general sound quality-this is the good stuff! More of this, please, and less of the pointless outboard reclocker talk, especially since a DAC using USB already handles that. The snake oil side of TH-cam Hi-Fi can be frustrating, and I’d love to see this channel stay focused on the practical, accessible content that makes it great.
@jeffreylehman1159 Define "hear"-if you can actually hear it, you can likely confirm it’s real by meassuring it. If not, it might just be imagined. That said, I suspect the issue here is methodological. It sounds like the streamer was connected to the DAC via Toslink instead of USB. This would explain why there was an audible improvement, assuming the streamer was suffering from clocking issues.
Difference’s you can hear cannot always be measured. That is why the best hifi at any price point is designed by people with a real passion for music, not in a laboratory.
@@cunawarit I’m not really up on DAC reclocking, but you can definitely hear differences that may not relate to measurements. Instrument separation, depth of soundstage, true clarity, these don’t necessarily align with specific measurements.
I generally like the 5.25" woofer version of a speaker more than the 6.5" for two reasons- first, the 6.5" woofers tend to be too boomy in my small room, because i have to have the speakers pretty close to the wall behind them. Otherwise, they're in the middle of the room, because that's how small my room is. Second, I find that the 5.25" woofers tend to have richer mids and tend to often blend better with the tweeter than the 6.5" ones do, but you give up a little bass. I'm not a big bass freak, so that's not important to me that much. I place more emphasis on rich lush midrange and clear crisp (but not shrill) highs, with good balance across all frequencies, and punchy dynamics across all frequencies as well. Above all, I like speakers that don't draw attention to themselves and disappear and let the music speak for itself. That goes for amps and source components too. I don't like it when they are screaming at me -"Listen to me, I'm SO Hi-Fi!" I prefer components and speakers that say to me - "I'm not even here, listen to the music".
I’ve enjoyed many of your reviews and analysis. One thing I truly dig is the “real world” points you make- like the dynamics of a song vs just lab tests etc. but as well in many of your videos the comparison and contrast of various hi fi gear under real world use. I appreciate your videos. Keep sharing the knowledge 👍
There are certain pop and jazz recordings I use to audition speakers, but if they can do large, well recorded orchestral works, those are the ones I prefer. I have Elac UB5s and they do everything well.
If you were playing them at the same volume it would make sense that the smaller speaker would sound better. I’ve noticed that my speakers open up, and become more revealing at higher volumes. I often keep raising the volume to hear the different instruments in better clarity. So, I think what you observed makes sense.
Yes they are very nice!!! I know you like doing amp reviews. Here’s one for you, I just got a OSD Nero HTA4200, running it bridged on my front towers (Jamo C109). If I were to use these for home theater mains which would be better? Gut says the big ones but since I have a sub would the little one be better?
Curious how these compare soundwise to the SVS Ultra Evolution bookshelfs (shelves??) you reviewed back in May.
I have Yamaha hs80m calibrated to Harman curve, bought based on Your review fosi audio za3.
Now I don't know what speakers would have the best sound in the price of Under $400 (that's the cost of pair 80's yamahas).
I love both Funny and hi-fi of the audiophile world and resolution and detail of studio world.
Could You recommend me, what speakers would be the best fit for me in this situation?
Can you do a comparison between the original debut B6 and the current version of the same please.
The original is still good as gold in my view. If I had to upgrade, I'm curious to see how these compare.
Thank you for your content, it is extremely enjoyable and knowledgeable.
I need advice. If I get a wiim ultra, smsl po100 or similar, elac speakers, what affordable sub woof would enhance this. I'm kinda lost in how this works when all put together
Looks like decent budget speaker system . Love metal domes i like it I just wish companies would stop making speakers 6ohms
I would imagine these probably dip down into the 4 ohm range. How come you don’t like 6 ohm? Do you prefer 4 or 8?
@ yes I just prefer the traditional 8 ohms even 4ohms used to be car audio type stuff
Tis probably a compromise between bass extension and avoiding a full 4 ohm load that some amps don't deal well with though in this day an age...
A lower impedance leads to higher sensitivity. If you have a “real” amplifier, 6 or 4 ohm nominal should be fine.
@ yea mine can play 4-6-8 doesn’t matter with ease
If I connect WiiM ultra usb to a SMSL DAC, would that do the reclocking also?
Can a set of these be effectively powered by an AVR? I know there’s mention of the current version being more efficient than the prior gen, but I’m wondering if my old Pioneer SC-05 (130wpc @ 8 ohms) can run 4 of these and a center for a 5.1 setup
Which one would you pick for a really large living room/kitchen combo?
Which one of these would be better suited for a home theater setup? Movies, shows
Have you ever heard the ELAC CARINA BS243.4? How are them?
Try playing Yanni Within Attraction Live at the Acropolis and Al Di Meola Cachaca 😎👍🎵
What would be the better option for an all around Home Theatre setup that can be used for music and movies (in that order) in a 2.1 system
If you can get some open box heco 700 towers and an rsl sub, you're good
Thank you @Ty-qj6ws. I meant which of these 2 speakers would be the better option for that use
@@ihshinron oh haha apologies
Hey what ever happened to the Emotiva B1+ ?
How do they compare to Eclipysh 500m
Now that is what I call a wishy washy review. Make up my mind, lol. Get the big brother and enjoy all music
Hey Randy, have you ever had the opportunity perchance to listen to a Dynaudio Emit 20? Im super curious how the Elac Debut 3.0 DB53 stacks up to an entry level audiophile level bookshelf. thanks!
What do you think abaut Elac debut 3.0 6.3 vs Dali oberon 3? Mostly for tv and movies, and I have a Tannoy 2.10 sub😊
Совершенству нет предела
i would like to get a pair someday those ELAC speakers. hey breaking news Bose just bought Mcintosh i wonder what they have in store. sonus faber comes with that purchase.
Sounds like a CAM t-Shirt "And if you would like to know what the measurements are, I have no idea...."
Randy - What's your opinion on how the ORIGINAL Elac Debut B6 truly compares to this new B6 (3.0)? Specifically on soundstage and imaging, is it really "mind-blowing," like the original version you were crazy about for years..? Thanks for your input & reviews👍
Randy, how do the Elacs compare to the Micas?
Wow 86 db would be loud, guess I am just an old guy or a cheap date, I listen to my speakers, peaking at 70 db
Yeah, but I bet you don’t listen at 1 meter.
@@jeffreylehman1159true, 2.1 meters, lol, small room it is only 9 foot x 10 foot
Hey cheap, I have Infinity RS2 speakers, and I'm looking to buy an amp. Can you tell me what is good? I'm on a budget. Can you help? I love your TH-cam channel. Good job ...
These look like good candidates. My present speakers sound good. But, their size over-dominate the room. It seems as though the recording quality itself can make or break a speaker regardless of size or amplification.
You're spot on about recording quality. Some songs always sound a little crappy, no matter the setup.
Sometimes the better the system, the worst some recordings sound.
A lot of popular recordings are mastered to listen to on car audio or blue tooth speakers.
@ No doubt about that.
Have you checked out the new Adam Audio D3V monitors?
Waiting on the floorstanding version review… please?
I feel the same way about the KEF Q150's being better than the Q350's.
In Japan, DB53 is worth about $500...
demoing the best equipment in the world to MTV unplugged alannis morrisette...i'm tripping balls knocking around my ankles rn.
Someone please review the towers?
