He had to say something in a credible forum, which a Neville interview brings.
The fallout from the claim that all but 3 United players will be available in the summer is very damaging to his team. The interview was done to change the narrative. United have 5 games left this season to qualify for the Europa League and win the Fa Cup.

@@Tdoggg Two years is a lifetime in football. If we're still grappling with a squad filled with remnants from previous regimes, then it's fair to ask-what has been done? We can’t keep blaming past line-ups for current failures; that's not how you run a top-flight club like Manchester United. If after two years, we're still talking about inheriting problems, then the real issue lies in the lack of decisive action. You need to clear out players who don’t fit and bring in those who do, quickly and effectively. @@jgmediting7770 Two very different circumstances. With that logic, every poor manager with bad results should be kept on … because once in football history a manager was able to transform a team and build something great. But this was a totally different time, and different people. Football history have seen a few washed out strikers suddenly regain their form and begin scoring again. This HAS happened. By your logic, do you propose we give Anthony Martial a new contract? Five years? He is hopeless now, but he COULD become a top scorer. Theoretically. Except it won’t and neither will TenHag. After two long years, he has no discernible football philosophy, no style, no functioning offensive or defensive strategy, very poor player passing, no collective performance and a lot of conflicts with various players. We’ve just finished the worst season in PL history. If TenHag had a clear football system the players could understand, new recruits would fit the system and play in the TenHag style, where players could identify and communicate their system to new players, even when we have injuries etc. But we now have very little or nothing of this. A GREAT manager would have indoctrinated his playing style on the team. And certainly been able to adjust according to the opposition. But we never or rarely do this. We play the same ping-pong happy go lucky (or unlucky, in our case) and let Championship teams run over us. Most of the time the players appear confused and uncertain how to deal with the collective performance of other teams. Who is responsible? Who do we pay millions of pounds to inspire and lead our players - our extremely expensive players - to success?
I strongly suspect INEOS are currently negotiating with better managers. I certainly hope so.

ETH has had 9 of his first choice 11 playing. He’s only missing Shaw and Martinez from his ideal eleven. Possibly he’d want Varane over Maguire too but I’m not 100% sure he would. So to claim the team can’t have patterns as they don’t play together, and Casemiro is only isolated and wingers not tracking back/tucking in, due to defender injuries is absolutely nonsense. Our midfield is wide open with his main fwd/mid players in the team.
And if his ‘fight back’ is basically blaming injuries, it’s pathetic.

I hear you, but any team in the PL not able to field a considerably consistent back four will suffer for stability of play sooner or later. Plus Erik doesn't want to admit it but he is not really that great of a defensive manager. He needs his players and its rotational depth to compete. Neville is a business man, he works for three parties, mainly for himself.
Tottenham Hotspur imposed the sanctions against Harry Kane to move to the Premier League clubs, Frankie de Jong publicly addressed he will not coming to Manchester United.
Whenever a manager begins to appear with banal and trite excuses, particularly when certain players are necessity to contribute the functionality of managing football team, the club should never given him a job in the first place, let alone allowing him to sees his contract out.
The Ratcliffe and INEOS are here to eclipsed the Glazers. They are undoubtedly responsible for Manchester United to miss out on the Champions League spot. Because Manchester United have players, capable of securing top four without a manager. The likes of Harry Redknapp would definitely bring the inspiration and motivation for the players as an interim manager and guaranteed the European top flight football had he replaced the Dutchman and will avoid the defeats against the likes of mid table and bottom half teams, would not be finishing in the bottom of the group in Champions League.

Ratcliffe is 71, with a net worth of 11 billion.
Man management, recruitment and decision making are the main reasons for his success.
