  • We are pretty well known here at Lucore Automotive for our enjoyment and appreciation of classic Pontiacs and this beautiful green Pontiac Firebird is one we ALL love! Unfortunately as you'll quickly hear there's a bit of an issue getting this bad bird back up and rumbling, so let's get that fixed before Hot Rod season is fully upon us.
Powered by a Pontiac 428 under the hood, backed up by a Tremec 5 Speed transmission swap this thing has all the makings of an awesome American muscle classic. As you can see from the numerous Hot Rod Power Tour stickers on the windshield, this isn't just a garage queen, it gets some miles put on! Unfortunately we've got some broken parts to content with and a few surprises, but we'll get it handled and back on the road!

That’s a sweet ride.. I’m not a fan of the fan that’s on there. I had one come apart and cut my brake line by the proportioning valve while driving. Lucky no damage as I was able to drive it home and fix it. Nice job as always Rich

Oh man I love that color. Those old firebirds are really slept on. Hot take I like these FAR more than the 78's. Just something about the dual round headlights and the body of the 68 and 69 that I just can't get enough of.

Bought a 68 green BIRD in 1971....400, auto, loaded, gold interior. $2195 minus 1300 trade in on my 68 Torino. I installed the rear spoiler.....got it up to 135 mph....front end was getting light and let off. 160 spedo and my guess it would do it. Great car.

Verdoro Green... 1968 is the "best" of the gen one body styles. The front end truly looks "complete" with the inset turn signal bezels, although those miniature tail lights will get you rear ended at night.... That car in that color is a gem and the modifications are "classy" with a period correct look to them.

Beautiful Firebird, love that green! They didn't produce any factory 428 Firebirds or GTO's, but some dealers did swaps. I doubt this one of those by the stupid and incorrect 428 air cleaner sticker. Still, it's a great condition car and glad to see any Pontiac in your garage. Thanks for sharing!!

Very nice firebird. With todays low quality rebuilt parts, it is possibly he got a couple bad ones.

My mom would love that car! Our family car in 1970 was a DZ Z28 with the no option 4 speed race car setup. I loved that car at 7 years old, felt like everything was going out of the exhaust when mom was driving it! Yes, I am a founding member of the church of bad decisions! Ot's replacement was a big block 72 Torino. Yes it was the family car.

That old Firebird looks good. But, not a quick fix. Thanks for the video!

Man that car was built to beat. 12 bolt, Geis girdle, blowsheild, TKO, and trac-bars. Perfect, just the way I'ld want it. And if it really is a 428, what heads are they? Are they round ports? (Can't tell from the camera angles.) If they're 96s, talk about rare. And as much as I like the RA manifolds, I think I'ld opt for a nice set of hedders. Even still, sweet machine. Good luck with the sale. It's probably already gone. Be cool to have a "ride-a-long" video, with a bit of throttle action.

Sweet! Question? Back in the old days flywheels had pins for the pressure plate but I have noticed on some recent videos, from other youtubers, I don't see them anymore don't they use them anymore?

Very cool car, if only it wasn't green. Not a green guy. The other issues with the flywheel. Poor assembly or something else?
