    I work for Flemings. Actually I started the whole video thing here. Tony is super busy as the owner
    and only does videos once a week. When I see a Great car come in, I shoot it usually first, for my customers around the world.
    Thanks, Jeff

    Back in the late 70s I own a 1971 Ford Torino with 351 C and C 6 automatic trans The bumper needs chrome and I had the hood scope which match the color of the car, and Stock deep dish rims with white walls tires and the stripes on the side and color blue and it turned heads and the car was level.

    Is that a 351 cleveland? It's been a while and I can't tell looking at the valve covers...I had a '70 mustand mach I with the cleveland 4V....the 4V had bigger valves among other things when compared to the 2V...

    I had a 70 built in 69 in calypso coral... I had the vented hood but wasn't aware the shaker was available till the 71. I'm stills big fan but maybe not so much in white. Still I'd love to have it. Under $10k?

  •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I want one. Seems to be hard to find. Even watching all the new car shows, or Barrett Jackson, you never see a 70-71 Torino.

  • @1400IntruderVS

    The front grill needs to be lifted closer to the hood and the rear lower valance is mounted a little sloppy. Valance should be tighter to bumper other wise a beautiful car. 351C are easily under estimated and a good fit for these cars. With little work they will run just as fast as the 429CJ option.

      never2late454 there used to be a company called Phoenix Auto Decals or something very close to that, but definitely Phoenix, that made restoration decals. I almost ordered the wood grain decals for my 1968 Country Squire . But they seemed to be the go to at the time. If they’re still in biz I’m sure they’ll have the Lazer Stripe

    @Peter Pietraszewski a 351? Stomping on 440s? interesting

    • @andrewhigdon8346
      @andrewhigdon8346 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matthew Phipps I don’t know man. Leaving all else aside, the weight savings with a 351C versus a 440 was substantial. And the ACTUAL horsepower and torque numbers may not have been as far apart as you’d think. Gotta remember they underrated certain drivetrains’ numbers for insurance savings. The 4V Cleveland had heads specific to the 4V option. A 2V Cleveland head has much smaller ports. And if you look at the front top corner of the head you’ll see either 2V or 4V. The ports on the 4V were so big it was a bit of a dog at low RPMs. Most people agree that Ford wanted the Cleveland to become THE performance engine. Why do you think the Boss 302 used Cleveland heads, not to mention the HP and torque numbers were laughably underrated on the Boss 302. Plus Ford has to meet emission standards from the factory. They all knew that a radical cam, an 850cfm Holley, headers, and a good tune would awaken the monster. The Cleveland 4V heads were also known as the “semi-Hemi “ for the canted valve arrangement. A built 351C 4V could smoke a factory or even mildly modified big block, especially the heavy Chrysler RB. So the claim isn’t really a stretch. But the guy still doesn’t know wtf he’s talking about.

    Beautiful car, but I can’t stand the painted bumper & the Ford logo on the grill. If it was my car, those would be the first things I’d change, everything else I’d leave the way it is here.

  • @danielstrom3426
    @danielstrom3426 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fleming is trying to pull a fast one here. This is a '71 Torino GT with the hideaway headlight option. It's also been wrecked in the front and poorley repaired. The grill should be flush,not drooping down as it appears here. The "shaker" hood feature was only available in '71. This is a leper of the first order and should be avoided at all costs. If you have ever heard the term "white elephant"...this is it. This car is sloppy. A true Torino GT is tight looking. This looks cobbled together.

    • @jadeezra
      @jadeezra 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct on all that, but the shaker was available on the 70 gt m code gt also. Obviously the J code 429 also

  • @Thirdgen83

    That car is screwed up. The bumpers should be CHROME. The hood should be black. The Wheels SUCK (put some damn MAGNUMS on there). The steering wheel is too small, and that HIDEOUS "FORD" oval on the grill is NOT supposed to be there. It's supposed to be a round "GT" medallion. Used car salesmen irritate me with their smooth-talking BULLSHIT...

    The signature on the deck lid is of the late Bill Shenk...original designer of the 1970 Torino. NOT the owner who restored the car. Do more homework and educate yourself before flipping cars you know nothing about.

    • @sharid76
      @sharid76 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank You! I was going to mention that myself, but am glad I didn't have to. Bill Shenk must have been turning over in his grave at that one! "What a maroon! What a nin-cow-poop!" (Kudos to Bugs Bunny for that one!)
      There are other issues with this car that have also been addressed - like the hide-away headlights, and that drooping grille, among others. Something about it just looks "wrong" in the way of body lines. It's not lean and tight like I would expect a Torino of that vintage to be. It just looks loose and sloppy.
      I owned a 1971 GT SportsRoof with the 351C-4V, C6 Console shift, hi-back buckets, burgundy paint, clean straight chrome and all black interior. No A/C, laser stripe, or louvers on the back window. It was bought in 1978 for my 21st birthday from my husband. I owned it until 1995. I did scads of research on the production stats, got photostatic copies from the DMV of all the prior owners (3 I think), worked on it with my mechanic husband, and had to do some emergency repairs on her when I found myself stranded in the middle of winter in Northwestern Indiana in a small farm town with one gas station, and a busted hose.
      The attendant/"mechanic" wanted more money than I could spend to replace it for me, so I bought a piece of hose from him for 50¢ and did it myself. With my own tools. He purposely cut off a piece of the wrong size, much too long, and I made him switch it for the right one. I wasn't going to be so easily foiled!
      It doesn't sound like much work for you guys who do this sort of stuff in your sleep, but it was a very short piece of hose in a hard to reach place, and although I don't care at all about getting my hands dirty, it was extremely cold in February in Indiana and I couldn't do it with my gloves on. I had also just come from my doctor, who had diagnosed me with my first case of Indiana bronchitis. (Coming from Southeastern Virginia, where it's warm almost all the time, Indiana winters were hard on me. They still are!)
      However, I managed to get it changed out, with the hose clamps with the screw adjusters, a pocket knife, a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. I used the water hose at the gas station to fill the radiator back up, and waved to a scowling station attendant as he watched me drive away, off to the pharmacy where I needed to pick up prescriptions for my bronchitis! THAT is what I needed my money for, and had little enough to spare after paying the doctor and the rent at the first of the month!
      Ahh - enough reminiscing - thanks for letting me ramble on about the first car I fell in love with, and my very first car that was all my own!
