      Thanks for the comment :). You are absolutely right. And I just talked with him yesterday, he started to fly warbirds in dcs but is having a hard time to get into it. DCS is missing the instant gratification like other games but I think it’s exactly why I love it since DCS world can become a lot more strategic. I kind of have given up on him. 😅

    Holy shit, dude! That was some epic opening! I was hooked immediately. The music, the gentle slow movement, the radio traffic. Like a movie teaser. And yes, your friend is right. DCS sometimes LOOK boring because of the realism. But that's the whole point. Just buyed my first couple of modules, still barely can land my aircraft, but at the end of the steep learning curve... it is so rewarding! Keep up the good content! You have a new sub! 👏

    Learning to master the aircraft to the point where you can use all systems and engage in combat while keeping track of everything going on on the coms is like learning to play an instrument. It takes a long time to master but every bit of progress is rewarding. Delayed gratification at its best.

    I think a common situation in games are - they (gamers) don't care if they die, they simply respawn and continue. In DCS, you may not have that opportunity, not to mention the time you have spent in mission prep goes out the window and if you are limited by real life (work, family, and time), then you really don't want to die, ruining your enjoyment. I prefer to call DCS a "Sim" because it is a simulation of a real aircraft and the "game" is simply working with others, to accomplish a task.

    • @helldivermando
      @helldivermando  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very well said. Cheers! You are right right when saying “it’s a sim”. There is even more then simulating the aircraft but what you have mentioned as well imo. I mean all the prep and planning. It’s hard for other people to understand this when they are new. Thanks and have a safe flight!

    I do my fair share of space simming(been at that for a long time) as well as playing DCS, though I have only been in DCS for about two years at this point.
    DCS is anything but boring, sure there might be lulls in the whiz bang action, but that actually lends itself very well to the simulation of being in warfare. I can't tell you how many times in actual combat environments we were out on a nice quiet patrol when all hell breaks loose for a time, and in a lot of instances that chaos was followed by more quiet. DCS captures this very well. I hope your friend takes a step out of his norm and picks up something like FC3 and jumps onto a multiplayer server, he'll get hooked.
    Also, damn I really need to learn to fly the KA-50.

    • @helldivermando
      @helldivermando  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very good points you bring up. Something that really makes DCS intense for me is the moment when you move to contact, where everything looks calm, but then all hell breaks loose. Exactly like you have written. :) Ive tried to get him into FC3 but it needs more time... He started to read about aircraft now. That might be a good sign.

    People which do not fly in DCS cant judge about it. I am a heli pilot in DCS (Hind, Ka50-III, Huey) and its just cool. To work with others and try to decimise the enemies is sometimes not easy but nothing is better than that. To search the enemy units is often hard but its satisfying. I fly only in VR and the immersion is great. Fighting, formation flight, Csar, cargo transport and other tasks are just cool. All that with proper hardware (high end pc, high end hots and VR) is a blast. Cool video mate! Nice missle hit....Gazelle would be great cannon victim :)

    I lost my love of multiplayer gaming because there is so little time to plan and coordinate on a mission. It's just nonstop death in most big multiplayer games. THIS is exciting to me and my brain. The dopamine hits I get from learning the planes, systems, weapons, and myriad other facets of DCS to learn and become proficient in. I still love some twitchy fast-paced team based fps like Battlebit or deathmath like Quake, Unreal, or Split Gate, but the most other AAA titles are so full of bloat and the gameplay is overshadowed by loot and waiting to respawn. I can understand DCS may be boring to some other simmers but it's also relaxing and intense at the same time, and that's hard to come by.

    Everybody is so hyped about the new helldivers, but THIS is the Hell Divers i actually enjoy...🙌
    Now for your friend i have few pieces to say...
    First of all, every man has to find his own calling, if the final frontier beacons, then that is the place for the man to be at, i am pretty certain regardless of the original lethality of any environment, adding the human factor will increase its challenging properties ten folds...
    For the Slow part... well... Master Bruce Lee says... If you cannot do it slow, you will not do it fast...
    And for the boring part... beware my friend, for whatever you do to satisfy your sense of adventure, what seems and feels enticing and challenging at first, will eventually grow dull and boring to you, and then you will seek more into it, challenging yourself yet further in the field, and so there lies the many pitfalls and temptations of prince of excess, she who thirsts, the dark god Slaanesh... 😉

Though Heatblur claims, if you can operate their Sim at 100% realism, you can fly the real thing, the only thing missing is the feel of it all, including the G's of course.
      The big turn off for many though, will be the very steep learning curve and to operate as optimal as possible you will need a 2nd crew member. Though Jester 2.0 is adequate, it is just not optimal they say.

    99% of tense routine stuff and the 1% of absolute mayhem breaking out. I can understand why non-DCS players find it "boring". But these days, I tend to enjoy less games with high-speed action going on (e.g. COD Battlefield etc) and enjoy slower, more realistic pace games (DCS, Ready or Not, etc). Especially in a high-level multiplayer teamwork setup with highly skilled team-mates. There's a feeling of not wanting to let them down. Heck most people probably don't even know the nerve required for flying in a tight formation. If fast-paced gameplay is what they're looking, its perfectly fine though.
    There is also the stakes, going into a match where you spawn in and do 30 seconds of pew pew and die and respawn again in less than 5 seconds is different from having to start a plane meticulously for 15 minutes, fly 30 minutes to the target area for a few minutes of action tops (and sometimes not at all). Its the immersion we enjoy, and its not easy to explain it.

  • @auqanova

    Thinking about it, its kind of the same issue as battle royales.
    In a battle royale large parts of the game are just surviving while moving around, and the occasional high stakes fight that is often an ambush. Most of the game is mental, and as such doesnt look entertaining, and if you dont have the knowledge to partake in the mental portion, is boring.
    Similarly, both games are a lot more fun when you have the foundational skill to actually win encounters. For less experienced players both games are about running in circles for half an hour just to get one shot by something you never saw.
    I still pick dcs over any battle royale, but they are quite similar through that lens.

    I'm waiting for a mod with the Mad Max end of the world spirit. imagine that there are only a few old jets or helicopters available and we would have to find weapons and fight to land and recover weapons and kerosene. protect civilians who would be targets of bandits. Fly in a co-op mission on a gigantic map completely destroyed by radiation. electromagnetic storms. zeplins.. a dimension where we would have to manage stress, fatigue, the mentality of the pilots / also female skins because my wife loves piloting the A4 Skyhawk but it would be so cool to have a sort of ELDENRING but in the air. and DCS has so much potential, especially the rendering of speed and the feeling in flight is just great. we would have to move away from the purely military simulation scheme to make it more FANTASY. but keep the realism and the learning curve. in the same way that we learn a level up or xp on world of warcraft I am convinced that many people would like DCS but the aspect that is still too rigid and too restricted in war means that it remains too NICHED ( sorry for my english > French is my Motherlang

    I think DCS can get very boring. After sinking tons of hours and money into the game. I’ve come to realize to really get the most out of DCS you really do need a friend group to fly with. The campaign missions can be fun but you’ll burn yourself out. I love DCS and really enjoyed flying I just have no desire to fire it up anymore. There are tons of groups but a lot require mandatory trainings and such. I semi agree with your friend. You can only play baseball by yourself for so long before it’s just not fun anymore and boring.

      Hey welcome to the channel. Wow that is a very interesting take on campaigns I never heard. 👍. As for the teamplay aspect I completely agree. At some point e point one hits a barrier that you can overcome when starting to fly with a team. It’s very hard in the beginning and most of the people who are interested to do that probably end up not flying in a team environment regularly. There is some frustration involved with flying in a team and PvP. We recently had a flight where six of us got smacked by a hornet. Needless to say it was frustrating but for the reason that people were lacking proficiency and procedures. That’s the hard part and also exciting part about it. From my point of view this is a barrier that everyone has to break through at some point or things remain one dimensional. So i absolutely agree.
      What games are you playing if not DCS then?

    • @ziamlarry
      @ziamlarry 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@helldivermando I haven’t been playing much of anything actually. I think the friends group whether you are good or not makes the difference. You are talking to an actual person rather than sitting in silence and can communicate issues. You are right it is a wall that everyone hits. It’s the process of trying to find friends/ groups that aren’t extremely serious about it. I like the simulation aspect, comms, procedures, and so on. But making a mistake and being able to laugh it off makes the difference.

    To be honest, while I think I know for what purpose you added the constant tension climax battlefield music, in my opinion this overdramatization achieves the exact opposite.
    There's nothing wrong with DCS being boring at times or at least not providing constant action. It's not really different in space games.
    What we see here is regular DCS gameplay, it's not required to push it even further with music. Its actually distracting from the fact that DCS doesn't have music and also that any serious DCS pilot also very likely wouldn't want any while focusing on a mission.

      great comment thank you. It's nice to also read the other side. From my personal perspective: I have never been a aviation guy but through DCS and flying for the last 12 month became one. DCS in itself is boring. The sniper AI and empty maps that require super scripted missions that take a while to build, kind of kill the fun. Or the broken S/P campaigns.
    It's what you've done in M/P that makes it shine. Working as a team toward an objective. It's what keep me in it.

  • @ivaniuk123
    @ivaniuk123 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Yes DCS is very boring if you factor in the fact that it takes a boat load of time to learn the specifics of your airframe, how to take off and land, how to use your weapons, the 30 minutes spent flying to the objective to get taken out by an IGLA that you missed (especially rotor wing), to then start all over again.
    DCS is boring because it's as close to real as most of us will ever get which is why the boring becomes fun since you're going to need real skill and strategy to stay alive since you can't just spawn unlimited ammo in your airframe.

    I find space sims to be extremely boring. There just isn't a good one. Star Citizen is far from being worth while and has a ton of tedious features and Elite Dangerous is just a space grind. There's no good space sim that even comes close to capturing the feeling I get from grouping up and working together in DCS to capture an airfield or that feeling when you out-fly an enemy and get the kill.

    i've noticed when you are very good at DCS, and you show the footage to outsiders, they will say it looks boring. This is all because a successful mission is an uneventful mission, if you prepare carefully you can achieve much without ever being shot at.
    By comparison, skipping BVR and ending up in a 1v3 merge may LOOK real exciting, but its an utter failure tactically speaking.

    well, he is not that wrong... 4 against a lone heli and a lone f14... what if there where some F14 wings and same amound of helis out there as you fly? Yeah, dcs is one of the best simulators but its looking extremly old and empty. And you need some friends to fly missions. Alone, its boring as shit. But who cares if you have fun in it. Main purpose of a game: Having fun. Thats it.

    • @helldivermando
      @helldivermando  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fair point. I dont agree fully. Like i mentioned in the video a lot of the enjoyment comes from achieving a mission. Most of the time we fly against the odds. Usually when there is no CAP. Still we try to survive and push the mission. But flying solo can be frustrating as well thats true.
