I can tell her mom was her friend instead of her mom. Sometimes parents are afraid to put their foot down especially when the child is the bread winner. I'm sure it's hard.

I know right hell I've been through alchohol abuse and it took my parents a few sessions of AL NON meetings (they are to help love ones of addicts hea and understand the cycle of addiction) but took them awhile to realize it wasnt lack of morals it was something else and I think alot parents are in denial to think no my child isnt doing that but that one lady I wanted to slap her how dare you what if that was your kid you wouldn't being saying the bull you be saying...😡
If anything I think she's just refusing to make excuses for the mother.

I’ve personal experience and I feel it’s more her mother doing her best, yes she tried to possibly cover it up, but if you were a parent would you want EVERYONE to know your child is addict to something? It makes you feel as a failure of a parent, doing everything you can, but knowing only your child can make the change.

Dianna was struggling herself and couldn’t even identify her own problems ..how do you expect her to try and understand her own problems and take note of everyone else’s problems as well. demi was a teen and like many teens they experiment with alcohol and drugs im sure she knew she was drinking and probably smoking weed but in all honesty who just comes to the conclusion that their kid is doing cocaine? and it’s not so wild for a young girl or boy to be wanting to go party with friends

I haven’t been to rehab in 2 1/2 years. I never had a drug problem, but I was very rebellious and I had suicidal ideation’s. It started when I was 13 and didn’t stop until two years ago. I was in and out of rehab for about six years. The first time I went to rehab I was 18. I finally said enough is enough and I felt something had to change. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom in order to realize that the problem is worse than you think.
Can you imagine how many young celebrities are passing trough situations like this right now and no one is helping them and how theyre gonna tell us this kind if historys in future interviews? I mean is like a fucking spiral bc long time ago the same happen to marilyn monroe but she couldnt survive, to judy and many more and at this point it seems like something that is no gonna change or stop.

Demi's mom reminds me of my mom, selfish with her own fears of what others may think if one actually acknowledges the truth and shares their testimony. Demi reminds me of me.. brave and ready to share our testimony with the world because God said that this is what we should do.
Ria Cardona Demi’s mom (Diana) is very brave. This claim of Diana being selfish with her fears is ignorant. This interview was from over 4 years ago and a lot has changed since then. Diana has actually been very brave, open, and honest admitting to all of her past struggles in her memoir. She released it this year, it’s called Falling With Wings. I’d recommend reading it before judging Diana. Demi has said countless times that her mother has gone through hell and back and that’s evident in Diana’s memoir. She’s not coward or a bad mother by any means.

@@abbymariano4275 I'm a very judgy person sometimes 🤷 maybe bcuz I grew up being judged by my mom and aunt everyday. I'm not perfect either. To be clear, I guess I felt like Demi's mother reminded me of my own mother specifically in this interview because of how she hesitated when answering the “did you know that Demi was using drugs?” question. Denying the truth is something my mom does out of embarrassment. My mom refuses to acknowledge the fact that I was raped two years ago because it embarrasses her. My own mother and aunt said things similar to “I told you so” after I found the courage to tell them what happened to me. My aunt and mom never specifically told me that my ex and his family are total psychopaths though and that my ex & his friend are rapists/pedophiles heh well no one saw that one coming but my aunt & mom were suspicious but instead of talking to me like an adult they would always judge my boys' father (one of the rapists) so of course I defended him like a fool unknowingly sticking by a rapists' side. In this interview specifically, Demi’s mom seemed to be very cautious about how she answered that question and in that moment her mother reminded me of my mom strangely even though I don't know Demi's mother.

When a person admits to alcohol abuse......it's really heavy drugs, and she's hiding it.
People say it's better to share/be open but the judgement and people's treatment after your honesty/share makes it not worth it almost makes you not want to share any information.

Well, Demi lives on her own now. Technically, her mom could put her foot down NOW. I don't think it would do any good at this point, though, unless she cut off contact altogether.
I can only hope the OD gave her the motivation she needs to crawl back out of the desperate, horrible place we all end up in when addictions of any kind overtake us, whether it be alcohol, drugs, eating disorders, self harm, etc. It's never fun and it's never helpful, and there can be many bottoms. Sometimes it's hard to even define one "true" rock bottom. On the other hand, there can be definite moments of rising up, and I remember my rises more than I remember most of my falls, which is probably because I fell so many times.

Initially taking the drug is a choice but the user isn’t choosing to be addicted.
