Just an FYI, the song is based on the Arrows of the Queen trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. Have a look at the song Battle Dawn, which is a follow-up to this one.
It reminds me of an anime I just finished call Soredemo Sekai wa Utskushii where a princess has to marry the Sun King who has control over most of the world and they learn to fall in love with each other. It's so lovely. I'm sad I finished it.
It harbors the realities of being a leader and the whole song entails that tune. +C Vernon yeah i get that i'm just saying it seems quite sad but happy until about halfway through, then BAM: death. I get what it's about and stuff tho
Pretty much what happens from perspectives like hers. She initially only sees the good but once she gets the crown she realizes the bad as well. I don't know the series it comes from (according to another commenter) but I can imagine it goes something like that.

The stars are very beautiful, above the palace walls They shine with equal splendour; still above far humbler halls I watch them from my window, but their bright entrancing glow Reminds me of the freedom I gave up so long ago
The royal circlet of bright and gold rests lightly on my brow I once thought only of the rights this circlet would endow But once I took the crown to which I had been schooled and bred I found it heavy on the heart, though light upon the head

The dearest are my Heralds, swift to spring to my command Who give me aid and fellowship, who always understand That land and people first have needs that I may not deny So i must send my dearest friends to danger, and to die
A friend, a love, a child, it matters not, I know indeed That i must sacrifice them all if there should be the need They know, and they forgive me doing more than I require With willing minds and loving hearts go straight to grasp the fire

This is what good kings and queens had to go trough daily, they deserve the highest respect as they did what very few can do, give up their own freedom for the people and all the sacrifices that will have to be done. It truly is a blessing and a curse to rule, being chained down to it with golden chains....how sad.
Power is something that have very strong influence. You know how much people fought in the past to become the ruler of everything. But once you have a sense of what a ruler have to go though, you lose interest in it. But then it's too late to turn around, so you must make sacrifices, including sending people whom you love/trusted/are loyal to you to war. You cry when you hear the worst, and you can do almost nothing for them. I wrote this because my grandfather was a leader in war and experienced pretty much what I just said. I wish he lived a happy afterlife in heaven. :.(

Seen the PMV for this song? It's as heartbreaking as _Lullaby for a Princess_. Also, props to Mercedes Lackey for writing the Valdemar books that inspired the song.
My mother's friend Terri sang this for me at a Filk we had one time. I don't think I've ever cried in front of her, but I thought of a story I had written about my friends when she sang this... And then i looked for this and I'm still crying
Isn't English a such beautiful language? For those non-native speakers reading this, how would you have described how English sounds before you learnt to speak it?
for me at liest it kinda sounded like a mix of light french and some sort of wierd spanish accent. to be honest i wasnt that compelled to learn the language but my parents kinda forced me to. so yea...
I can give you a link to a website I use to convert this into a MP3 file that you can download, I normally download to my laptop then upload to my phone (I used to do this with my ipod but it broke, RIP lily she was an amazing ipod).
Hope this helps! It's easier for me then downloading a bunch of music apps hoping to have the ones I like, so this website helps out a lot with that problem!
oh my god you just gave me the key to happiness! so many songs on youtube I've wanted to put on my ipod - I've tried for years to do something like this! Thank you so much :D

theres a small mistake in the 4th verse/paragraph/idontknow(stanza thanks kitt) "For they are all my children, which I swore to defend," should be "For they are all my children, all that I swore to defend,"
I'm creating a story and I'm trying to make the characters more in depth, i was looking for a song to use as inspiration for a specific character, THIS SONG IS PERFECT.

Angela'sSoRandom the song is from a book series by Mercedes Lackey. And honestly it's been a while since I read all the books set in Vladimar so I can't tell you which trilogy set its from. All the books are great though. And the music sets that go with them are all worth the listen as well.
this is really good. i don't usually watch nightcore stuff but i felt the need to check it out and i liked this one. i wish the voice was more melodic and soft but its alright.
Not sure how I found this or why it took so frign long to get here, but damn....what a beautiful song! Now I just need to find a list/station full of this style....
This doesn't remind me of anything other then ruling kingdoms and how the nicest people can be shrouded with selfishness and greed. This was in my recommendations, sound a bit country, but I don't regret it or opt out of it right away.. Nice work!! :D
You are not that far away. The song is based of the Valdemar series of book. In valdemar there's an order of people, the Heralds that serve the kingdom and the Queen, herself an Herald. Heralds act as warriors, spies and even judge, on behalf of the Queen, but they seldom die of old age because of the sacrifices they must do to keep the common people safe. So most times the Queen must send her heralds to dangerous mission for the good of the kingdom. The herald group is a tightly knot bunch, they are more like a family. So for the Queen it's like sending brothers, sisters, sons and daughter to die.
“Heavy on the heart, though light on the head”
I felt that... and it was deep
*"Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown"*
- Hamlet
I thought it was Helmet
I clicked because the picture looked so beautiful and so is the song.
My sister sees you EVERYWHERE ...
OMG UR ON MYSTIC MESSENGER..AND EVEN HERE WHAT THE HELLLLLLLLLL???? DUDE UR A GIRL RIGHT
Morgan Lemons Hi again!
Morgan Lemons hello again

"They know and they forgive me, doing more than I require" that was deep and it kinda hurt knowing someone will die just for you to live.
Just an FYI, the song is based on the Arrows of the Queen trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. Have a look at the song Battle Dawn, which is a follow-up to this one.
well, not necessarily for you but for the people. The queen serves the people, and by serving her they serve the people too
Literally crying right now. This is the first time I've heard this song and I can only think this must be how kings and queens of old felt.
Or at least the good ones.
Die Rolle des Kaisers ist undankbar
James Samson the good ones at least
James Samson
The ones with morally good motives inside them
I actually googled exactly that and I found nothing wrote If you can find a book or something id be more than happy
I feel like this song would fit well with a picture of a hand holding a crown that has dried blood on it.
Dim lighting, too, possibly with fire in a blurred background.
art of all of that in one picture needs to be done.
CONSIDER IT DONE
and with chain
God im need it
It is easy to say that becoming a ruler is both a blessing and a curse. Especially to those born into it.
True, sadly.
yes it is
It reminds me of an anime I just finished call Soredemo Sekai wa Utskushii where a princess has to marry the Sun King who has control over most of the world and they learn to fall in love with each other. It's so lovely. I'm sad I finished it.
If their not the corrupted kind in which it's only a blessing cus they don't care about their people
Kit Kat Zhang thx, I'll take a look at that anime ^_^
is it just me or did this take a dark ass turn like halfway through
Yes, yes it did.
It harbors the realities of being a leader and the whole song entails that tune. A king, queen, bishop, priest, whomever - any of the truly honest and good - all suffer from the pains of those they serve. Furthermore, they are required to make sacrifices that may come at great personal cost.
Mind you, its not all bad but the nature of the song focuses on the melancholy of a ruler.
I don't know the series it comes from (according to another commenter) but I can imagine it goes something like that.
its like stars and pretty crap and then BAM! death. death everywhere.
'And if you have compassion, let me send no more to die'
I'm just crying right now. This song is beautiful yet so emotional ;-;

Joey Fredrickson your last sentence is really poetic
That hit me deep bro.

I feel sorry for her... Somehow I feel like I want to help... (though it's not really real)
Thats deep

thanks!
This is an amazing song, so beautiful and shows that being royalty isn't as glamorous as it seems
The slave and Queen, though of different states, each walk a similar path.
The slave works in physical labors, walking in chains of brass
The Queen works in labors of the mind, her chains of glimmering gold
Their paths, different as they seem, are more alike than one would think
They work to please, neither truly happy with what they do, but bound to never go
They walk down different paths, though both are bound in chains
While hers of gold and his are brass, they’re chains all the same
Edit: No I’m not actually supporting monarchs and dictators and comparing them to slaves, this poem (like the song) is meant to be referenced to an ideal leader, one who actually cares about the people they lead and sacrifice for them.
beautiful poetry
Except that the people made the ruling class's lives exceptionally comfortable in exchange for their protection. Slaves? Not as much

Also, props to Mercedes Lackey for writing the Valdemar books that inspired the song.
I think Lullaby for a Princess was more heartbreaking. But the PMV was really good too.
what about lullaby for a princess luna's reply?
If world leaders cared this much about their people, the world would be a much better place.

... Losing so many friends and to never see them again...

The stars are very beautiful, above the castle walls,
They shine with equal splendor, still above for humbler halls.
I watch them from my window, but their bright and entrancing glow,
Reminds me of the freedom I gave up so long ago.
The royal circlet of bright gold rests lightly on my brow,
I once thought only of the rights this circlet would endow.
But once I took the crown, to which I had been schooled and bred,
I found it heavy on the heart, though light upon the head.
Although I am the head of state, the truth is I am least,
The true queen knows her people fed, before she sits to feast.
The good queen knows her people safe, before she takes her rest,
Thinks twice and thrice and yet again, before she makes request.
For they are all my children, which I swore to defend,
It is my duty to become both queen and trusted friend.
And love my children high and low, from beggar and above,
The dearest are my Heralds, who return my care with love.
The dearest are my Heralds, swift to spring to my command,
Who give me aid and fellowship, who always understand.
That land and people first have needs that I may not deny,
So I must send my dearest friends, to danger and to die.
A friend, A love, A child, it matters not, I know indeed,
That I must sacrifice them all if there should be a need.
They know and they forgive me, doing more than I require,
With willing minds and loving hearts, they go to grasp the fire.
These tears that burn my eyes are all the tears the queen can’t shed,
The tears I weep in silence, as I mourn my Heralds dead.
Oh gods that dwell beyond the stars, if you can hear my cry,
And if you have compassion, let me send no more to die.
Loren Gray thank you!!!
theres a small mistake in the 4th verse/paragraph/idontknow(stanza thanks kitt) "For they are all my children, which I swore to defend," should be "For they are all my children, all that I swore to defend,"
and a couple other words but im just gonna leave them ;)
a BIG thanks for this

It's not cheap Nightcore, it's lovely. Both the picture and song! ^ ^
Really?? As a newbie months back, I kinda made this too quickly and didn't really took time like other ones. But thanks!
Soo beautiful
Thanks ^^ As a Nightcore, this could've been improved though.
The stars are very beautiful above the palace walls
They shine with equal splendor still above far humbler halls
I watch them from my window, but their bright, entrancing glow
Reminds me of the freedom I gave up so long ago
The royal circlet of bright gold rests lightly on my brow
I once thought only of the rights this circlet would endow
But once I took the crown to which I had been schooled and bred
I found it heavy on the heart, though light upon the head
Although I am the head of state, in truth I am the least
The true Queen knows her people fed, before she sits to feast
The good Queen knows her people safe, before she takes her rest
Thinks twice and thrice and yet again, before she makes request
For they are all my children, all that I swore to defend
It is my duty to become both Queen and trusted friend-
And of my children high and low, from beggar to above
The dearest are my Heralds, who return my care with love
The dearest are my Heralds, swift to spring to my command
Who give me aid and fellowship, who always understand
That land and people first have needs that I may not deny-
So I must send my dearest friends to danger-and to die
A friend, a love, a child-it matters not. I know indeed
That I must sacrifice them all if there should be the need
They know, and they forgive me-doing more than I require
With willing minds and loving hearts go straight to grasp the fire
These tears that burn my eyes are all the tears the Queen can't shed
The tears I weep in silence as I mourn my Heralds dead
O Gods that dwell beyond the stars, if you can hear my cry-
And if you have compassion-let me send no more to die!
Your welcome 😄

Ah the Heralds! I love the book series the song is from. Wonderfully nightcored.
I honestly think I could've improved this Nightcore, but thanks :)
Heather Stevens whats the series it's from??
Angela'sSoRandom the song is from a book series by Mercedes Lackey. And honestly it's been a while since I read all the books set in Vladimar so I can't tell you which trilogy set its from. All the books are great though. And the music sets that go with them are all worth the listen as well.
Heather Stevens ok. ill have to look it up then. thank you
Angela'sSoRandom no problem☺️ I always love spreading the word about good reading material
this is really good. i don't usually watch nightcore stuff but i felt the need to check it out and i liked this one.
i wish the voice was more melodic and soft but its alright.

This doesn't remind me of anything other then ruling kingdoms and how the nicest people can be shrouded with selfishness and greed.
This was in my recommendations, sound a bit country, but I don't regret it or opt out of it right away..

Over a year has passed and yet this Nightcore is still of my favorites. Also congrats on 2 million views
Whoo that hits ya right here💘 also looking for songs like this that tell storys such as the willows maid
I feel like you could make this about a queen justifying that she sent her son out into the war, probably as a general and not a soldier but still
You are not that far away.
I love your picture choice for this song
Just Commenting To Make The Comments 666. But,It IS A Amazing Job. Good Job.
ive never heard this before, but i love it already.
Why does this remind me so much of Irene? She was a Lord of a village and the Lord of the Phoenix Alliance and had so much pressure on her.
