I like to imagine a fair prince writing back and forth to a fair lady who sends a white rose in every letter. They fall in love with one another and she tells him that she will go to his palace so that they can properly meet. However the day she goes to see the prince the palace is attacked and she dies before they meet face to face. She dies and in a pool of her blood beside her dead body is a single white rose that is now stained with the fair lady's blood and the last letter she wrote to him, a poem titled "A Ghost of A Rose." Sad story I know, but I think it fits well with the song.
I love how creative this is and it certainly fits! The story I like to think of is that of a stable boy and the spirit of a fairy. She appears in a valley everyday to greet the stable boy who takes the horses to the pasture. One day she admits that she is slowly disappearing from the world and thus leaves the boy remembering her by the roses she guarded. It's a bit cheesy, but like you I find that if fits to the song.

The posted lyrics are appreciated. Out of ignorance, I ask - doesn't this sound like a blend of Renaissance and Baroque ? One problem, I am listening to the u-tube mix, and the pitch sounds a wee bit fast. I am even using a premium trial. I am switching to another mix. But wait song #3 is Child in Time sounds like normal speed. (My God, Deep Purple was prophetic on this one. Ok here is my story that inspired by the song and the comments: Once Upon a time there are two kingdoms that were enemies for a very long time. Castles were too close so both of them could see each other to prepared for any kind of attack. By the way, there was a long and big walls covered with white roses that seperate this two kingdom but this walls weren't big enough to stop the birds. So, one day the prince of the kingdom secretly sends a letter with a white rose to the princess of the other kingdom. Finally, the princess and the prince started writing each other a letter with a white rose for the symbol of their love every night so no one could see the birds and without seeing each other. One day, two enemy kingdom started attack to each other; the big wall started breaking, falling apart and the roses starts burning. During the war the prince and the princess started runing to find each other and than finally he saw her, their eyes met and my their souls for the first time. She is holding a white rose; maybe the only rose that has not burned yet. But, she was killed by some random soldier on the behind. The blood started spliding on her heart and than she dropped the rose on her hands, she fell down. He wanted to catch her, save her but he couldn't. She is lying on the ground that covered with her blood. He started runing, he reached her dead body with a single white rose that is turning red with her blood. He wanted to kiss her, he wanted to take her to get her away from all this mess but the only thing that he could do was hugging her and say goodbye. When he is giving her last goodbye he found that she is carrying one last letter and in the letter she had wrirtten this song to him... ( If u want me to continue this story just say to me, it was a big pleasure to write it. Okay, so this may not make sense to some people but I just found a cool connection this song would be able to relate to: During World War II there was a group of young adults who lived in Germany that tried to peacefully protest the ideas of the Nazi party by writing a number of leaflets about how things should change. The group called themselves The White Rose (hence the song). Among them were Sophie Scoll, Hans Scholl (her brother), Christoph Probst, and many more. They distributed leaflets around the towns surrounding where they lived in secret. One day they decided they wanted to distribute the leaflets around their university. They were successful at first until Sophie Scoll threw a bunch of leaflets off of the balcony while the students got out of class and she was spotted by a teacher that ran to go snitch on them. Eventually after being arrested and a short and unfair trial, the three were sentenced to death. Even in the last moments of their lives they fully believed their actions would be remembered by Germany so they could help the people that lived there into realizing the change that was needed. This song reminds me of how their efforts are remembered as brave and courageous plus how they will always be known as The White Rose. Sorry about all this text. I just wanted to share what this song sort of reminds me of :)

There's a movie called " Sophie Scholl, the Final Days" it guides you though the days of interrogation following their execution, through the eyes of Sophie Scholl. Before her execution she writes a farewell letter to her lover, though it does not show what she wrote, the lyrics "promise me, when you see, a white rose you'll think of me. I will be your ghost of a rose.." I feel like her letter consisted of a farewell such as this. While there leaflets are the scattered remains/pettles of their resistance. This song makes me think of her final moments and the courage in their hearts to do what their conscious required of them.. It's a really inspiring movie I recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind reading subtitles..

I imagine that my oc white flower was found taking care of animals and she has snakes as hair also she is very fierce and this is going to be her secret past. Once their was white flower she was looking after some animals when a snake bit her it was a white snake that made her have snakes as hair white snakes the doctors tried to help her but there was no cure to it then she was feared and never was trusted to take care of animals. But she took care of the forest animals and cleared their water so they can live in peace also the girl blocked anyone from coming in because she made a force field to save the animals from humans. Maybe she really is a rose ghost. Maybe she was standing alone in valley one time and he watered her before she could wither. She can't love him and keeps rejecting him because she only wants to watch over him and protect him like he saved her life.

Hmm... for stories, I think of a lady in love with an angel. They met when the lady was injured by the stream and the angel healed her wounds. Their confession was marked with a white rose. Years passed and autumns came and went, and he loved watching her dance through the leaves near the stream they met. They had a daughter, and she shared the white hair of her father, and the green eyes of her mother. They lived as commoners in a village, apart of a large kingdom. The kingdom had fallen into dire straits as war broke out, and the village was the first to be brought down. The angel told his love to run and take their daughter, he would be right behind them. I kind of think of one of the stories told by the Grim Brothers of the people who tur into animals and such. So here is the story I see...
A girl was turned into an animal of some sort which I want to say is a fawn or deer. (The valley green was so serene In the middle ran a stream so blue a maiden fair in despair.) One day she got caught in a hunters trap. A young man with a kind heart freed her and they would talk as she would tell him about her curse and they'd meet everyday slowly falling in love. one day on there walk they stumbled upon a white rose and before he could pick it for her she stopped him and would say those lines of "Promise me, when you see A white rose you'll think of me I love you so never let go I will be your ghost of a rose" After awhile though she would become trapped by the person who cursed her and she was killed. When the man was looking for her in the field she appeared to him in her original form but as a ghost as she then would walk to the sun leaving a trail of white roses behind her. In this case her lover would try to follow her but as he could not he would come back to the spot everyday and wait for her return.
I feel like there's more that is missing from the story. What the heck does "when all was done" supposed to mean? Did she die? Did he betray her? Why was she dancing?
Ironic that in Greek mythology, the red rose was created when a Goddess's love (forget which goddess but probs Aphrodite) fell in battle. He died, supposedly, surrounded by white roses. Aphrodite saw the stained roses and created the red rose as a symbol of eternal love and passion for her fallen lover.
Your comment made my day, whether you meant it as a joke or not I could not stop laughing (no offence meant, it simply was amusing for this question to pop up after listening to such a serious song). The way I interpret the song is that she did in fact die, but I am not sure if this "ghost of a rose" is a girl or not, it may be a metaphor for a dream of the lyrical identity, but that's just me thinking out loud.
This makes me think of the secret garden because of the roses and the moor and how her ghost kinda led him back across the moor to find his son and niece in her garden

She is lying on the ground that covered with her blood. He started runing, he reached her dead body with a single white rose that is turning red with her blood. He wanted to kiss her, he wanted to take her to get her away from all this mess but the only thing that he could do was hugging her and say goodbye. When he is giving her last goodbye he found that she is carrying one last letter and in the letter she had wrirtten this song to him... ( If u want me to continue this story just say to me, it was a big pleasure to write it. Also, Eng is not my first language so I have probably made too many mistakes but if u tell me about my mistakes I can fix them. Thank u for your interest and have a nice day.)

Okay, so this may not make sense to some people but I just found a cool connection this song would be able to relate to:
During World War II there was a group of young adults who lived in Germany that tried to peacefully protest the ideas of the Nazi party by writing a number of leaflets about how things should change. The group called themselves The White Rose (hence the song). Among them were Sophie Scoll, Hans Scholl (her brother), Christoph Probst, and many more. They distributed leaflets around the towns surrounding where they lived in secret. One day they decided they wanted to distribute the leaflets around their university. They were successful at first until Sophie Scoll threw a bunch of leaflets off of the balcony while the students got out of class and she was spotted by a teacher that ran to go snitch on them. Eventually after being arrested and a short and unfair trial, the three were sentenced to death. Even in the last moments of their lives they fully believed their actions would be remembered by Germany so they could help the people that lived there into realizing the change that was needed. This song reminds me of how their efforts are remembered as brave and courageous plus how they will always be known as The White Rose.

There's a movie called " Sophie Scholl, the Final Days" it guides you though the days of interrogation following their execution, through the eyes of Sophie Scholl. Before her execution she writes a farewell letter to her lover, though it does not show what she wrote, the lyrics "promise me, when you see, a white rose you'll think of me. I will be your ghost of a rose.." I feel like her letter consisted of a farewell such as this. While there leaflets are the scattered remains/pettles of their resistance. This song makes me think of her final moments and the courage in their hearts to do what their conscious required of them..
It's a really inspiring movie I recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind reading subtitles..

I imagine that my oc white flower was found taking care of animals and she has snakes as hair also she is very fierce and this is going to be her secret past.
Once their was white flower she was looking after some animals when a snake bit her it was a white snake that made her have snakes as hair white snakes the doctors tried to help her but there was no cure to it then she was feared and never was trusted to take care of animals.
But she took care of the forest animals and cleared their water so they can live in peace also the girl blocked anyone from coming in because she made a force field to save the animals from humans.
She found an nice girl and they stay together but when I say together the girl know as white flower was hid in her heart and body and she is protected by the girl her name is bloom she can still come out and control blooms bays also she can have her own body she was happy to have a good friend like bloom.
White flower was glad when she sang this song and bloom knew how she felt.

They make the most of the time they have together and she reminds the man to remember her even when she's gone whenever he sees a white rose. She is killed among the amber leaves she loves to play in, and her pursuers pluck her magical rose self to grant their wish. She becomes nothing but a ghost of a rose, and he remembers her forever through the white roses he plants throughout the forest valley where they met and she took her last breath. The tragic lovers are remembered through the valley, which is kept as a memorial called Ghost Rose Valley.

I imagined of a girl who loved roses. She owned the whole garden of roses to herself. And one day, a heir of the crown of the mightiest kingdom was looking for a bride to devote as his queen.
On the way to the jungle on a hunt, the prince saw a girl as beautiful as rose, dancing and singing lost in the world she's stepping on. The prince fell in love with her. Hence, the prince hurt himself on the hand on purpose and went to the girl. With a painful voice he asked,
*"Beautiful maiden, can you lend me a hand? I hurt myself while hunting."*
The girl, feeling pitiful of the prince, let him stay at her place with a condition. He must never step into the forbidden garden.
Just like that the prince agreed. For three days and three nights, the prince stole the little heart of the rose like girl. And they fell deeply in love with each other. The girl brought the prince to her garden and to the prince's surprise, the garden was full of red roses making a magnificient sight.

The colour of red bloods and roses are magnificiently lying on the ground along with his most beloved. He went to the girl and placed her safely in his arm. Her last words were
*"Promise me, when you see white rose, you'll remember me. I love you, so never let go. I'll be your Ghost of Rose..."*
And last drop of her blood fell to petal of the red rose. And magically, the whole place became a garden of White Rose.
A love that was not meant to be,
but a love that set her free.

Maybe she really is a rose ghost. Maybe she was standing alone in valley one time and he watered her before she could wither. He watered her everyday and loved taking care of her, until she died and took the form of a ghost. He came back the next day to water her but instead only found the girl and fell for her. She can't love him and keeps rejecting him because she only wants to watch over him and protect him like he saved her life.

Hmm... for stories, I think of a lady in love with an angel.
They met when the lady was injured by the stream and the angel healed her wounds.
Their confession was marked with a white rose.
Years passed and autumns came and went, and he loved watching her dance through the leaves near the stream they met.
They had a daughter, and she shared the white hair of her father, and the green eyes of her mother.
They lived as commoners in a village, apart of a large kingdom. The kingdom had fallen into dire straits as war broke out, and the village was the first to be brought down.
The angel told his love to run and take their daughter, he would be right behind them.
But when he passed through that stream, her body lay in the blood-stained grass, cradling their crying child.
It was too late to save her.
"I will be... your ghost of a rose."
He couldn't understand those final words.
Years pass and the lady was put to rest near that very stream. Their daughter grew strong and kind, sharing the same beautiful aura as her mother.
When watching his daughter dance on a sun-dyed hill, he swore he had seen his love once more. Ah, it came to him.
She was the white rose.
And her mother watched over her from the afterlife, ensuring her safety as _the ghost of a rose._

I kind of think of one of the stories told by the Grim Brothers of the people who tur into animals and such. So here is the story I see...
A girl was turned into an animal of some sort which I want to say is a fawn or deer. (The valley green was so serene

In this case her lover would try to follow her but as he could not he would come back to the spot everyday and wait for her return.
I feel like there's more that is missing from the story. What the heck does "when all was done" supposed to mean? Did she die? Did he betray her? Why was she dancing?
I think that the point of the song to keep you guessing and to draw your own conclusions, but that is just my opinion.

Ironic that in Greek mythology, the red rose was created when a Goddess's love (forget which goddess but probs Aphrodite) fell in battle. He died, supposedly, surrounded by white roses. Aphrodite saw the stained roses and created the red rose as a symbol of eternal love and passion for her fallen lover.

The way I interpret the song is that she did in fact die, but I am not sure if this "ghost of a rose" is a girl or not, it may be a metaphor for a dream of the lyrical identity, but that's just me thinking out loud.
