I opened the video just for the helmet on the wall. There's a scene at the end of halo ce where john takes off his helmet as the camera pans away. If you get control of the camera so you see the animation, he takes his helmet off to reveal another helmet underneath. That was my takeaway from the helmet. He's at home relaxing, so he took it off. That's his face. Another helmet.
I love how The Chief has a letter with a Super Smash Bros seal on it. Quite a few people (myself included) think Chief should have been added to the smash roster. In my mind, the smash roster is supposed to be comprised of the most legendary characters in gaming. Who else better fits that description than the Chief himself?! That letter though creates the narrative that the Chief was invited and rather than accept the invitation, he decided to simply display it as a trophy of sorts. Basically communicating that being on the smash roster is beneath him.
We agree that he should be in Smash so much that we made a video explaining why he was going to be. The letter is also a kind of nod to our video, on top of the narrative that he was actually invited. Thanks for the love!

I remember comming home after a hard day of 1st grade, turning on my Xbox 360, looking at this title, "Halo Reach". What was this game? I pressed the "A" button. It was amazing, the loading screen, I saw what looked like.. robots? No. They were people, enhanced humans in a suit of armor fighting for humanity. I was still a kid and all I did before this was mess around in minecraft creative. This was new to me. I remember I kept dying until I eventually passed the first level, but I kept playing that first level: "Winter Contigency" until I learned that... oh, there's more? I'd come home everyday from school and play it, learning the characters names, being sad over every Spartans death. "It's just a stupid game." No mom, it is not just a stupid game. It's a game that holds memories, that taught me, "We all fail. We all make mistakes. It's what makes us human." It taught me that no matter how far the finish line is to keep pushing. Because what matters is we get it done, no matter what we're facing. Just like 117.
I've always felt Halo had so much depth to be appreciated. Reach left me with the understanding of the importance of fighting until bitter end, even if your efforts will only truly be appreciated once you're gone. Put more simply, the nobility of thankless sacrifice

The amount of detail in the video and music is insane. There are so many awesome references and interesting details in the video from the different games. Especially love the Alien reference as Halo took much inspiration from the designs in the Alien franchise and I also love it because it's one of the best movies ever made. Craig and the remade Halo picture to the right corner are great too. There is something from each game all the way from the Master Cheif helmet from CE hanging in the background in the right (with even the flashlights being turned on as it was a unique mechanic back then) to the Halo Infinite grapple to the left.
If you like Alien, check out our video on the scene similarities between it and Halo. It makes me happy to see someone appreciate so many of the details that I very intentionally included. That being said, there are a lot of one time details that are easy to miss. Thanks for watching!
