9:20 This is non-sequitur response. How does Arsenal enjoying much better luck with injuries the past few seasons have to do with the narrative of our team being unable to beat Arsenal's 2nd string? I'm a Liverpool fan and seeing the backline Arsenal ended the match with, even I am of the opinion we didn't do our quality justice not beating that team. The stand-ins they had for Odegaard and Saliba are not at the same level as Kelleher standing in for Alisson. And the likes of Chiesa, Elliot and Bradley, great as they are, were not going to start against Arsenal. They were there for the taking, especially after Gabriel came off, and they still imposed their game on us for most of the match.
I agree with you - I thought Liverpool were quite poor in the first half and that was the difference. If we go into halftime 1-1 I think we would have won that game. We were the better team in the 2nd half.
Gotta respect Dom's role and ability more. 62m hes on, 62:19 takes the ball on the half turn taking out 4 players, 63:19 in the box looking for the header in. The running and positional intelligence the game needed, he occupies multiple players taking up blindside positions, his profile is so unique concerned if hes injured, none of the others possess those same traits. I saw a different defensive press from Liverpool with Darwin, didnt quite work, might do in other matches. Darwin gave immense effort. 7 pts from 9 v Chelsea\Leipzig\Arsenal the first stage of the test has been passed.
For near 65 million I need a little bit more than making clever runs. The guy is renowned for being really intelligent footballer who creates and scores, mainly blinders. He has a good football IQ but massively under delivering right now. Hoping he gets that spark back. I really appreciate your break down
@@Aaron82-p6x Lol, it IS more than clever runs it facilitates the play, there is no play without him as the outlet or occupying several players by his use of space. We'd all like more creatively from him, but his role is a hybrid 10 and Slots already talked about how he shot too much at Leipzig. The goal from Salah for example doesn't happen without Doms run, which draws two arsenal mid, and fixed the arsenal cb to watching him run into the 10 space, rather than drift to cover\double up. He's not getting the glory, but his play is the lynchpin for the whole attack.
Interesting new press too, rather than the 424 press went with a 433, interesting game to try Gravenberch as a lone 6. Think he felt Darwin was so high energy he'd replace Doms effort, and he did , but not in a play sense and Arsenal walked the first half, least he recognised and fixed it second half.
Let me ask you a question. Do you see the amount of slack passes from him that I see. Do you see the poor touches that I see or the pulling out of challenges. I’m not doubting he makes clever runs and works hard you can’t tell me this guy is on form. Every pundit in the game can see Sobo is not playing well and have repeatedly mentioned it. But interesting debate. I want more from him which I know he is capable of and you are happy with him. I’m sure Slopp would like more goal contributions from him. Sobo is a couple of assists and couple of goals away from being in form but he fluffed them by overplaying. Fingers crossed he hits form thanks for your comment
Hey, what did we learn about Arne, the man, the gaffer as well? Well, he doesn't have a problem saying "fuck" in a press conference. I like that about him. I also liked how he balanced the draw against the lead up with too few days between ties and was happy with the point under the circumstances. Slot is in two words... "fucking" boss! So are the lads and Darwin is hitting his stride and with Salah, wow, this could be deadly!
But if you watched closely at Saka's first goal, no one covers White, and he took a long time to prepare the pass. I don't know who's blame is that, midfielder's or Slot
No misjudgment whatsoever I called Sobo out for giving the ball away constantly. If you listen to what I say about Sobo I constantly say the quality is there but he looks lacking of confidence . You are right jones was not good in that role. Out of position and lacking energy both 2 things Sobo is good at. Jones does not give the ball away anywhere near as much as Sobo but I will agree Sobo may have been a better option in this game for his running ability
There was far too many long hopeful balls played by Trent and Virgil that just gave the ball away. 😢 we should have played much more short passes and played through their lines much more.
Bro we were embarrassing. Thanos should figure out why/how everyone is exploiting the midfielders gaps in 4-2-4. Their first goal came from weak pressing on front too, not just Robbo. There are many comprehensive threats on twitter analyzing this very fact.
it's all well and good being a pitbull Aron, but Nunez could hit the back of the net too, exceptional striker. I'd argue he is the best modern striker Liverpool has ever had. I'm choosing my words carefully here because I say striker, Salah isn't a striker so... 🙂 But yeah if Slot can unlock his ability to hit the back of the net too, Nunez will be great. I also wouldn't mind if he was a Firmino type of player, who assists both the wingers to score more goals, but he needs to pick a role, right now he's somewhere in between. I honestly think he's a better false 9, because that way he's not offside that often. You know, now that you bring that up at the end, we need to talk about Virgil Van Dijk jogging back as Robbo takes on Saka. He's jogging back, not sprinting, jogging. If he was there helping his fullback out the way Konate helps Trent on the other side, that might not have been a goal.
Arsenal overloaded Robertson who wasn’t getting protection from Diaz and Havertz pulled MacAllister out of the middle Slot sorted it out eventually but Robertson seems to be the weakest link
Szobo's , Tsimikas , Jones , Gakpo and soon the rest of the squad . Even Endo had a go , maybe they are taking time to get the game and trust of Slot . Don't think anyone is chasing anyone out , the squad is gonna be like a transformer , put body parts where you want and it all works . Up the Reds YNWA
I thought tjat qe had a tough game there especially during the 1st half. Robonwas just done on pace & a great bit of skill for the first goal. Szoboszlai being left on the bench i think kind of proved that his work rate is very much needed in the first team. But wwhat a moment for Nunez to play that pass to Salah for the equaliser 2 - 2. I was going big & predixted 3 - 1 Liverpool win im glas we came away from.tjat game with yhe draw & relatively unscathed unlike Arsenal. 97
Nunez and Salah have often linked together well, it's nothing new. Try putting in 'Darwin Nunez only passes to one player' in the search box. Nunez has also shown good quality in bursts previously, so "is Nunez starting to get it" is all a bit meaningless. The central issue is that he's our number nine and was brought in to score goals, but goes 10-12 games at a time without doing so. Also, the Kelleher long clearance tactic (if it even was one) didn't work at all and almost always lost us possession, so Aaron is talking a lot of shite with that being a "really good tactic".
We won a good few second balls but I agree long ball is not a good tactic but the midfield 3 was not working especially in the first half. Long diagonal ball to Salah worked a number of times and allowed Salah to run at Timber resulting in timber coming off injured so in my eyes it worked. I appreciate the comment tho
Losing the ball and winning second balls 70 yards from goal is a lot better than playing out at the back and losing ball 30/40 yards from goal. Take away it being a really good tactic it was a necessary tactic due to a misfiring midfield 3
@@Aaron82-p6x Id argue your point was a good one tbf. That tactic worked v Chelsea with the 424 press out of possession, think it just asked too much v Arsenal with less players in 433 press.
I think it could also be seen as a tactic to break down their defense physically. Balls in the air take a toll physically and I wouldn't put it past Slot to know that Timber was vulnerable due to recent injuries.
I love Kelleher but Alisson makes the save against Saka.
Ooo not sure about that - Alisson has been missed tho. We can't quite possess out of the back with Kelly
that's what I said too. I didn't think it was good enough from Kelleher

Aron, before the game you badly misjudged Szobo's importance in the Liverpool team. We learnt it in a hard way...
Yup. Szobo just showed that he is the most important midfielder we have right now. I'm waiting for the return of Elliot.

I wish we could move the ball faster when we are on the attack. We should not give the opposition time to set up.

This was a collective issue I agree. It was too easy from Ben white. I would highlight vvd in this too leading Robbo completely exposed.
