Just found this gem you posted. And youre right, the verse follows a 6/8 time signature, while the chorus can be counted in 4/4, to me it has that snappy 2/4 feel. Just makes it more unusual a ballad.
Ive always wondered who actually wrote that song for the episode. Could have been a staff writer, but who knows, could have been someone who was later famous.
Thanks for posting, I intend to learn this one.

I know drumming is a little different but there is an awesome video on TH-cam with the drummer "Levon Helm on singing while drumming" very awesome interesting instructional video with Levon Helm who's awesome one of my heroes but anyway he talks about counting time with one of the symbols and I don't really get what he means by that and then you talk about counting time on here I'm not a musician my father was and I love music but I don't know anything about playing it anyway I don't understand how people have time or the brain to sit and count time while your example singing and drumming or in your work singing while playing the guitar so mean while you guys are counting time seems like a lot to do at once like a lot of multitasking 😅 please let me know if you watch the video and tell me what you think . And I loved your video and thank you for posting @@redchandler
