- Dave (Junior) Ellefson sits down with Robb for a deep dive into his early days in Minnesota starting bands, his family history on the Ellefson farm, his great new cover of Post Malone’s “Over Now”, his serendipitous meeting of Dave Mustaine 5 days after landing in Los Angeles, Mustaine’s reaction the first time he listened to Metallica’s “Kill ‘Em All”, and working on the very first Megadeth songs before the band even had a name.
Great shit!!

David seems like the most wholesome dude in all of metal.
this aged badly
@@poisonwasthecur3 uh ohh, what happened?
@@poisonwasthecur3 well the accusations were proven false by both Ellefson and the girl. A noninvolved 3rd party was the one trying to “expose” him
@@mattf5855 oh he was exposed.. lol. He sent nasty videos to a 18 year old.. it’s gross
@@grahfkarate1799 Well...that's not exactly how that went, but the facts aren't nearly as cool so...
Hey Robb, awesome channel man. I’m a 16 year old drummer and do covers on TH-cam. To celebrate Rust In Peace’s 30th anniversary I was part of a full album cover. Megadeth will be part of metal history for centuries. 🤘🤘
Here’s the link if you wanna check it out: th-cam.com/video/YmrFlM3j85Q/w-d-xo.html
@@karenvance666 Thanks so much for checking
It out John! Really appreciate it🤘🤘
I watch you on you on the instagram! You're pretty good .. Cover After World Obliteration by Terrorizer
Loved hearing about the parental struggles with your 16 year old. My 16 year old is pretty much identical to yours...gaming, swearing, isn’t interested in driving, quick meals with the family....he does play drums and is pretty good for a relative beginner with no lessons..picked up double bass like a champ...loves metal...I’m very proud. Much love from down the road in Santa Clara! 🤘🏻
FANTASTIC INTERVIEW!!!! Pure class!
Thank you so much for the great content on your channel, Rob!!!
Ellefson's always been cool, hes like the "super positive metal head"
Great interview
He feels like such a mature Guy he could Come and go a long with anybody, Even Dave Mustaine
David was a guy i would choose for an Older Brother! Would be a dream what classic ROCK/METAL bands he could presents me!!!
Robb, wife was teaching my daughter to drive her hemi challenger, she went to park in the garage and ran into my workbench! Uggg!
Megadeth is my favorite band.
I think what I like most about these is Robb just lets his guests talk. He listens and deosnt interupt so we great stories etc especially from some one like Ellefson who has lots to tell!
Rob you made me smile talking about your boys. Nice to know we’re not the only family having the same experiences 🤣.
Just ordered me some David Ellefson signature Bass strings!

I'd love to see a Megadeth and Machine Head tour down the road.
My first show was machine head megadeth and black sabbath. It was badass man.

Happy new year 🥳
Robb, get Nightwish singer Floor Jansen on this podcast!! She said in a recent interview that Machine Head was one of the first metal bands she listened to!
A metalhead originating from an island called Hellso is very metal
Hey why don’t you do an interview with Phil Anselmo? In person
@Johnny West You just answered your own question.
His bass performances on Peace Sells is one of the greatest in all of metal.
That line in Bad Omen....What??
Dawn Patrol..or,look up Dave's bass solo from 1995..fuckin kills
Hey im from uk they still have different age laws in different States now then ?!

Oh Dave's got some F'n regrets .
I like Grayleys ... that's killer
you should get HERMAN LEE he would do the show for sure
Very cool interview
Great stuff! Some of the stories I knew, but not at that extent. Looking forward to part 2. Happy holidays! 🤘🏼
Killer. I’m gonna watch this for sure. Robb - your excellent show continues. David Ellefson is such an awesome dude and a brilliant musician to boot. Only guy whose stuck with Mustaine for so many years.
"Y'know it's funny..."
Great chat
Robbio, cracking me up hearing you talk about your son's. Why are today's youth such slackers?!? I would've gone nuts to go drive a bad ass car when I was a teenager in the mid 80's. I always wanted to be out of the house doing cool shit.
Great interview! I really like Dave's storytelling. I don't blame Kirk for the solo's, i mean what was he supposed to do in fuckin one week writte em all? It was even hard to learn all the songs and then to rewritte all the solos, come on. He did a great job, it's even better that there are "Dave's" solos still there.
Yea jam it out!
It's alright Dad that's what it's all about got a 14 and 17 boys not much different
Lmao your kids hahaha 🤣
i love how growing pains (For parents!) is so universal~!
So no Dave ellefson?

Yes yes yesss finally 😊😊😊😊
Dude watch Jack Black’s podcast or TH-cam call Jablonski. hilarious
@Ball Point love me some burnt dinner.
I had a friend who was heavy into tape trading back in the 80's. He had the demo then a copy of "Killing" before it was released...we were amazed when we heard "Mechanix" and were like what the??? They do a Metallica song??? Haha! You never forget your FIRST, and "Killing" will always be my favorite.
Can’t wait for part 2 , Love Dave and megadeth
That was an awesome chat with David. Thank you for asking about Mustaine’s reaction to Kill’em All. I’ve never heard it talked about in depth like that, not even in either of the two Dave’s books. Can’t wait for part 2. Cheers🍻
sofa king cool!!!!
Happy Holidays Rob. Love ya work 🤘
Carjacker!!! Name it carjacker.thats all you homie.
Why does it take you foreverrrrrr to get to the guest?

LOL. Let your kids swear. The apple falls not far from the tree :-)
Right on Rob!!!
Volume is low
Can we get a Corey Taylor episode soon. Not to be the Corey Taylor guy but I wanna see that convo so bad
@Ball Point just cause he’s a good frontman and a funny guy lol
@Ball Point I mean yeah no ones saying no to that lol I was just saying I would like Corey Taylor lmao
I realized what a rock star Ellefson was when I saw Megadeth without him.
Very few bass players go 'full out' with a pick but he does and he has done it to perfection. If you want to check out another metal band that is on point with the bassist check DRIs 'definition'. Bass guitar is crucial to music yet too many bands never achieve that magic mix where all the band members are BOSS MODE. Usually bands rely on vocals, guitars or drums which is entirely cool but as I said when ALL instruments are 'present' that's when things can get 'next level'.
My opinion, The production on Killing is .... was lacking compared to Metallica’s debuts. I think they would’ve exploded bigger.
Everything was lacking, Peace Sells was a major improvement on all areas.
@@murk4552 after reading Dave’s book sounds like they spent their advance on other things than the studio.
Meh, I don't think it was that bad. The songwriting wasn't great. Their are some really good ones though:Rattle head, Looking down the cross, Love you to death, and the title track
@@allsystemsgo8678 I remember thinking it didn’t sound as good as Ride The Lightning, which isn’t fair. Dave’s vocals caught me off guard also. I knew it was good, just always thought it should of been on par to what Peace Sells was .
@@TrevyTrev-andTheFunkyPets I think it's on par with Kill em all.
You gotta get Kirk Hammett or Kerry King.
Lol funny guitarists
Sweet that’s this evening sorted. Fuck but I love Fridays simply cus of this podcast!
