4645 & 8791. Last passenger train To Blaenau Ffestiniog

A more sequential version of the journey of the last passenger train between Bala Town and Blaenau Ffestiniog by double headed Pannier tanks 4645 & 8791 from available internet sources. There is no sound to this video.

This brought back a lot of childhood memories of happy trips to visit my aunt and uncle in Ffestiniog. It was never the same doing the trip by car.

Excited schoolboys in short trousers and school caps dashing around not wanting to miss anything, men in jackets, ties and raincoats with flat caps or trilby's wedged onto their heads. Ladies in their best Sunday apparel, scarves on their heads, grabbing the arms of the little ones whenever they came close to the platform edge.
To me these scenes are heart-breaking, repeated dozens of times in many locations from one end of the country to the other as the worlds greatest railway network was reduced to a shadow of its former self. If only this route or even part of it were still available I, and many others would ride it simply for the experience and a fine day out.
